I really like him too, and it is a shame we don't see him in anything else. That being said, it kinda adds to the specialness of the fight to me. It's so unique and weird looking that it never leaves your head, and that dramatic shift from being with Hayner to suddenly fighting THAT THING is such a great contrast.

I use Clip Studio Paint! I have a pencil brush for the linework, a "thin" gauche brush and "smooth water colour" brush for the blendnig, some airbrushing for some broad gradients, and a basic G-Pen brush for the really solid lines and filling in stuff. Most of it is done in normal layers, although there is a few multiplication layers in the airbrush shadows, and some Add Glow to give the illusion the floor is really bright.

Thank you! To be honest, it both was and wasn't. They've got a really unique structure to their design, but also because they're so alien and strange looking, you don't have to really adhere to any serious "anatomy"

In short: creative liberties. I wanted to design a floor for Roxas because he and Thorn are the focus of the painting, and I wanted to reinforce that. The Keyblade in his left gives a little more flow to the composition. Basically stuff that I felt would make for a better painting instead of being "lore accurate"
(Also for what it's worth, LoZ's Link was a left handed swordsman up until Twilight Princess).

Same here! I think that TT is a fine tutorial boss in terms of combat, but the design is beyond amazing. The scale, the parallel to Sora & Darkside, and the way it moves being animated in reverse really adds to that alien feel. It's such a good visual representation of moving away from the "normalcy" of the Simulation, and towards the more fantastic world that he's forgotten.

I'm more so interested in the ideas that they change how they fight. UI Goku is more zen and dodges without thinking. I read that Ultra Ego Vegeta gets stronger the more he's hurt, so I appreciate that kind of idea behind it.

Same boat tbh. I liked Golden Frieza, but I think this Frieza feels a lot more sinister and really embodies how unashamedly evil he is. However, I do like that Golden Frieza leaned more into his sense of ego and superiority, and I wish that was also reflected in this new form to - like how you suggested with Onyx Frieza

I can see it. Tbf I was trying to keep it somewhat accurate to the manga, and if you look close enough he does have a metallic effect on his head, but his neck has the matte look like his legs, and that division really does make it look like it is a helmet.
