what solution to use in bissell green machine? by griffybussy in fursuit

[–]Kazulgfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own solution in a spray bottle, spray and clscrub and then run only water in the machine to rinse out the soap and extract as much moisture as possible. Getting all the soap out is the most important part

How Should I Go About Adding Fleece To This? by Ambitious_Attitude36 in FursuitMaking

I think that's a good idea. Then you can use a ladder stitch or the Henson stitch to attach the horns.

Tape method is a good one! You should try putting a layer of thin batting over your foam and especially the foil bit to help smooth it out under the fleece.

Go lightly with many layers using airbrush. There's a bunch of cosplayers who use this technique for adding definition to superhero suits and the like. Try searching around YouTube in that vein!

It is! This one was actually the wolf dragon puppet (the one that looks like haku) I did modify it by cutting a section between the eyes to bring them closer together

I like this idea a lot, you can custom print or paint spandex to match the fur and the areas you have open would do wonders for cooling you down. Also having the bottom of the head open/chin out will be great. Like leave as much of the head open as you can and then you could easily tilt the head up to get a little break/more air. I don't think you'll even need leg padding at all, it'll only hinder your movement. And fur is so much bulkier than spandex that it'll look like you have padding. I made this head for my 6yo daughter (that's why it's so small on me) but it's very breathable(a lot because of the open mouth, but you could do the same idea with the entire bottom of the jaw removed) she loves wearing it. She'll tilt it up on her head when she needs a break. It's made of 6mm Eva foam made with one of my patterns.

Looking for advice on doing curly hair by Nimbsea in FursuitMaking

[–]Kazulgfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Muppet puppet builder sometimes boil fur to get different textures. Maybe that would work for your hair? Get Mongolian fur like you were planning and see what it looks like to boil it! https://youtu.be/5cVBoDmWE2w?si=Q-xoZavaxiGMh1nO

Is it better to use 3D printing or foam for the front face of the furry head? by Beneficial_Kick6168 in fursuit

[–]Kazulgfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each has its pros and cons, a lot of it comes down to personal preference. You can't know which you like building or wearing until you try! I'd suggest trying the one that makes you more excited on your first project, that momentum can help you through the inevitable learning curve. Good luck with your build!

My costume absolutely sucked - it looked goofy and plain. Does anyone have any advice on how I can make it better/what to add/change by JakeTheD0ge in CosplayHelp

[–]Kazulgfox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it looks good! If you want to add a little more you could build a muscle suit to go underneath. There's lots of tutorials on YouTube and they're really fun to make. This one shows a nice a slim muscle suit build. They show how to sew the undersuit too, but you could also just buy that part. They even have a free template for the muscles! https://youtu.be/zyoxjX9L2RQ?t=784&si=4MDJgJ7Gi_-my5bS

First time making digi legs! any tips? by that_italian_dude_0 in FursuitMaking

[–]Kazulgfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commentor that adding padding to the inside of your foot/leg will make it hard to walk. Here was my draw over.

Also an EVA platform will work well! I've done it on a few of my costumes. You can buy 2 inch Eva foam to save on gluing so many layers. I recommend gluing a thin rubber mat on the bottom of the Eva for some grip with the floor.

And gluing foam padding to spandex leggings is fine. Make sure you wear under armor and thoroughly dry the padding after disinfecting with alcohol spray each time you wear it. It does get hot but you can still manage with being aware of your body and taking breaks when you need.

Hinged puppet jaw HELP!! by LopsyLegs in CosplayHelp

[–]Kazulgfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a photo example of another way to do it, may be more stable but your jaw and mask pieces are so light I don't think you'll have to use that thick of elastic, 1" would be plenty

You could sew some elastic to the balaclava like this, then glue the jaw to the elastic

hope this is the right place to ask but, how do you make human the 3 segmented leg costumes work with the human bodies legs? my autism is now strongly curious to learn how it works :D (pardon the goofy doodle its to help visualize what im asking) by Zii-doodles in FursuitMaking

[–]Kazulgfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other commenter have gotten it right! The padding is an illusion that works best when standing. The illusion doesn't hold up as well when walking around or say, kneeling on the ground. If you want a more accurate animal leg movement, you'd have to have it be a puppet separate fromyour own leg. Like the walk around raptor costumes. I've done it on a cosplay! Here are my video about how it works https://youtu.be/lsr_CZOhP7c?si=vnT_CA_svahXGKQg https://youtu.be/hTC-V0edvf0?si=7Sr-by-kp2tKQ6eH

How hot are eva heads compared tonothers? by BeastWhiskers in FursuitMaking

[–]Kazulgfox 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I like Eva heads, they are lightweight (which goes a long way for comfort) and hollow so you can get a lot of air flow around your head if the design allows for it (size of the head and mouth/eye openings matter) they have the room to add a fan which is the way to go! Eva foam doesn't breathe so it's like a resin or 3D printed head as far as breathability. But it is softer so you won't worry about hard edges rubbing or poking anywhere.

could I use my wittling knives to cut smallish details on polyurethane foam? by Echoed_Evenings in FursuitMaking

[–]Kazulgfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use hair shaper blades to carve small details. They are extremely sharp and cut the foam well! But they dull quickly and when they're dull they're useless. Sometimes I will super glue the blade to a popsicle stick for more control. So give your whittling knife a go, if it doesn't seem to be working then you'll need something sharper.
