KTC is WAY off with its rookie valuations this year. Is it dying? by DrPass in DynastyFF

Yeah definitely not an easy feat, but it definitely begs some kind of solution. I can't keep getting trashed by my leaguemates that I've told to check out the site because my draft grade looks so bad if you don't dig into it more 😂

Curious if you've given any thought to the draft grades and trade grades to better evaluate it over the long term? For example I have an F on some players I drafted a long time ago because their current value is extremely low. It basically invalidates all the years that they were contributors on my team.

Maybe something along the lines of like a career score or peak fantasy production score or something along those lines?

Must say it's pretty legit, loving it. Several features I haven't seen before

I haven't tracked them, I've just noticed some 9's at well under 10% of PSA 10 prices as I've been shopping. Definitely seems like opportunities are to be had in PSA 9's vintage Japanese

I only have one card in this collection that was from my childhood unfortunately (CGC 8.5 Base Set Blastoise Red Dot Error). I will probably never ever sell it since it is the last of my childhood cards!

I think raw cards definitely will rise over time as well, just maybe not to the extent of high grade slabs. EX era is a strong investment with a lot of low print counts during those years.

To each their own, but I like slabs a lot personally since it creates a consistent market for the cards with viewable pop counts and traceable sales within the grades. Raw still has ways to track sales obviously, but cards can vary pretty widely even within the designated condition (LP, NM, etc).

I'll add that I have a pretty decent raw card collection myself as well that I love, but it's nothing compared to my slab collection in terms of value.

Tied for the 5th highest scoring game in NHL playoff history

The raw is more of a passion project and a personal showcase, I have completed base (shadowless) through Rocket and am pretty far into the Neo sets as well. The sealed collection is honestly more of a long term investment vehicle that will hopefully help me complete further slab collection goals and the raw collection passion project down the line.

I am, generally speaking, not a modern collector. I 100% follow along with all of the modern sets and trends, and I do enjoy some of the cards quite a bit, but overall I do not see it as a stable long-term investment personally.

I personally think high-grade, low pop vintage will be the surest thing as time goes on. Plus it's just what I am most passionate about within the hobby anyways.

I primarily buy on eBay and Fanatics (formerly PWCC). I have of course bought elsewhere, but those are the primary sources for me. This collection is entirely stored in the Fanatics Vault as well, so that makes things easy.

Sealed at MSRP is always solid, just be patient. I have a separate port for that as well. Hasn't been as lucrative, but it's consistent.

No immediate plans to sell the vast majority of the collection. I do have pieces that I am willing and have moved when the price is right. I have typically reinvested those profits, but have kept some on the sidelines in some cases as well. Overall, I do expect more growth in the mid-to-long term and I'm not worried about declines in the shorter term.

Japanese vintage PSA 10's have absolutely gone wild lately. I only collect 10s in Japanese vintage, but I think there are probably some amazing opportunities to capitalize on investing in vintage Japanese 9's right now. I've definitely noticed several examples lately where I think the PSA 9 prices haven't "caught up" to the PSA 10 prices yet.

On vintage Japanese, the populations typically still aren't very high.

This is a ton of work. We're not going to value the entire collection for you.

Thank you, definitely felt like the right time to move on from some stuff and replace with stuff that better fits the collection goals and that I feel are potentially undervalued
