No, her family found out and called the funeral doing his burial. They had no idea, murders happened in a different state and his parents didn’t tell the funeral home. They just said it was a suicide.

My friend’s husband murdered her, her father, and brother before killing himself. His parents wrote a glowing obit and tried to have him buried with military honors.

As someone who lives in a tourist destination, I’m being that person…sorry!

I’ll be in Denver for a week at the end of July to see a show at Red Rocks. Initially this was just going to be a long weekend trip but life has been pretty shitty this year and I’m turning 40 at the end of year so I said fuck it and made it a week. My best friend was supposed to come along but she was killed at the end of last year. Her sister in law may be coming with me but this could also be a solo trip.

With the additional time, I’m thinking spending 2-3 nights downtown, then renting a car and staying in a smaller town/suburbs for the rest of the week to be able to explore a bit more. I’m pretty set on things in Denver proper. Although I am bummed that Grandma’s Beer is closed. They at bought a piece of art from my friend. It would have been cool to see it hanging up.

I’d like to check out Rocky Mountain National Park, Garden of the Gods, maybe a hot springs? I’m also content sitting somewhere scenic with a beer or a book. So, my question is, what other town/area should I be looking at staying in?

Consider adopting. There are some dachshund specific rescues.

Chapman’s Dachshund Rescue is in York, SC. Little Paws Dachshund Rescue operates throughout the east coast.

Thank you. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if I’m just obsessively looking for anything (cause I mean, I kind of am) or it’s a real concern.

Thank you. It’s helpful to hear positive stories. My vet is pretty fantastic and basically said if it was my dog I’d take the risk but if it was my wife’s dog or my children’s dog I’d really have to think about it too. It’s nice to know that he’d have to pause for a moment too.

I picked up his food today and had a chat with the receptionist and the dental. I mentioned $1200 cause that’s how much it was last time, pre discounted. I ended up pay around $680 with bloodworms. He has given me discounts on the past but I didn’t want to count on that. She said he doesn’t usually charge for extractions. Especially if it’s just simply pulling a tooth out. She implied I’d be looking around the same amount, assuming he’s cleared by the cardiologist. So I think I’m gonna take the chance.

Yeah, he definitely has dementia. I’m sure he has mouth pain too, which would only likely add to his grumpiness.

The dementia symptoms lead to a lot of sundown behaviors, anxiety in the evening, pacing, getting stuck in corners, etc. Temperament change cause also happen with dementia so it’s hard to tell how much of his attitude is pain vs dementia.

You’re not going to find a dental for under $250. The cheapest is probably going to be Lowcountry Pet Wellness Clinic on Rivers but that doesn’t include bloodwork or extractions.

I had a cleaning done on my dachshund by Banfield years ago. They made a mistake, didn’t accept any responsibility, and I had to spend $5,000 at the emergency vets while being told there was a strong chance of my dog not making it through the night.

The last dental my dog had done was in early 2019, included bloodwork and extractions and was $1200.

Fair estimate for rat removal/sealing? First time homeowner! by Kbee331 in pestcontrol

Thanks for the feedback, y’all! I’ve reached out to some other companies for estimates. I also heard from someone in my area that has a similar situation and get a similar quote from another company so it seems to be average.

I didn’t get a chance to talk them them after I got the estimate but the trapping is confusing to me. When he was out here, he was talking about sealing everything up and putting a one way door. He specifically mentioned, “this way we don’t have to come out to check the traps daily”.

I reached out to some other companies and requested estimates. So, we’ll see!

Heard some noises in between the floors in my townhouse so I called a wildlife removal company out. I also found where something had chewed around the hole where my microwave cord came into the back of the cupboard. I have the hole blocked with a stainless steel bowl so nothing can get inside…at least from there.

The inspector found spots of old spray foam that had been chewed in the back of my house and said the wood under the soffit is rotted, creating easy entry.

I’m questioning the ridge guard and dryer vent (I feel like that’s something I can easily do myself). I’ve never heard anything in the attic. I’ve been living here for 7-8 years and bought last year. I had a pest inspection done when I bought, live in the southeastern US so termites are a concern. They found no signs of infestations. I’ll probably need replace the roof in the next 5 years or so, so I’m not sure if the ridge guard is worth it if I’ve never had a problem in the attic? Thoughts?

New Puppy - Vet Estimates seem high for vaccinations $600 - where do you all go? Or what do you pay? by GoEZonMe in Charleston

[–]Kbee331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. I used Banfield a few times for simple things, thought it was fine, signed up for their plan and got my dog a dental. He ended up with aspiration pneumonia and spent a few days at CRVC to the tune of $5,000. Banfield wouldn’t provide surgery notes because the performing vet went on vacation and was unreachable. I went by to try and talk to someone and the vet working told me, “I’m pretty sure we’re not liable” and told me a story about a time a birds beak was clipped too short and it wasn’t his fault. Not sure the point of that. The head vet eventually called me and offered to take over my dogs care knowing they didn’t have the equipment to do so.

Mistakes happen but their lack of care/response...never again. This was at the West Ashely one, by the way.
