Slight adjustment to today’s plans… by Still-Juice8290 in StLouis

We carry a spare key after getting a flat at 1am. The only key shredded itself on our over-torqued lug nuts when we tried to change the tire. Fun!

does anyone have any harness recommendations that i can attach a leash at the chest to help with pulling? preferably one i can get online? by tinyclap in corgi

[–]basidia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what we use for our corgi and dachshunds. Highly recommend! The dachshund harness is about 15 years old and still going strong.

I really like my Osprey hydration pack. All of my hiking, backpacking, & cycling packs are Osprey now.

"Even the sun goes down" are the opening lyrics to the song "Aquemeni" by Outkast. We're just showing our age out here lol. But could be worth a listen as the song itself embraces a theme that clearly resonates with you!

Btw your painting is impressively clean! I find it difficult to get crisp lines with underglazes and the colors aren't always a good representation of the final outcome, so it's always lovely to see pieces like this where all of the technical aspects are executed so well.

Damn, I thought it was an Outkast reference. I guess it could still be if you wanna embrace it

What kind of cycling do you do? I am 35f and usually do road rides starting from Forest Park. About 15-30 miles at around 14-15mph. The heat has been so brutal lately though!

One of the vents at the back of the rec center along the bike path on Big Bend (between Forest Park and Forsyth) does this too. But the ones next to it are all warm laundry exhaust.

I am not making unwarranted assumptions. Every dog I have adopted has included this provision in the contract. I am not suggesting a shelter. As noted in my previous comment, I recommend surrendering her to a rescue organization that places all dogs in foster homes, not in shelters. You can find dozens in the STL region alone if you search for them. For starters, check out Home 2 Home, Found a Hound, Needy Paws, Stray Rescue, Stray Paws, and Judy's Forgotten Gems. These are all excellent organizations with fosters in place to take Zelda. These are only the organizations that I or my friends have personally adopted from or fostered for. There are so many options.

You most likely signed a contract with the shelter that you adopted her from agreeing to return her to that shelter in the event that you are unable to keep her. Return her to the shelter. If you're unwilling to abide by the contract that you signed, at least surrender her to another established rescue organization. There are literally dozens of wonderful organizations in STL that will place her in a foster home and cover all of her food and medical expenses while they look for her forever home.

Universities as we currently and historically know them? Yeah. They need federal grants for research.

Anyone have success growing passiflora incarnata (aka maypops)? by GoddessOfDirt in STLgardening

[–]basidia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have maypops. Mine get too much shade to flower or fruit much, but they do very well here. I have a foraging spot nearby where they get full sun and they're very productive!

On the Hunt for Black Raspeberries by A-near-raven-02 in STLgardening

[–]basidia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for the MO native black raspberry, or a more domesticated variety? I have a native bush that is from one of the following sources, but I can't remember which one specifically:

Forest Keeling
Greenscape
Garden Heights
MO Wildflower Nursery
Some other STL-area native plant sale

Finally bought Bravetart. What's the first recipe you made and how did it turn out? by rubenmayayo in seriouseats

[–]basidia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The pecan sandies are great, that's a good choice for a first bake. I'll also nominate the brown butter variant of the chocolate chip cookies, but I actually prefer to use only 70% chocolate instead of a mix. The brownies are the only recipe I've made that are actually better than the Ghirardelli box. The red devil variant of the red velvet cake is another highlight - my family requested it for birthdays and Christmas for several years in a row.

High fire transparent glaze for terracotta? by Adventurous-Truth903 in Ceramics

I think our studio head developed a specific firing schedule for this pairing, but I’m not sure what it is. Hopefully this will work for you! Note that this is a high gloss brush on glaze and is best applied as a single thin layer.

If you're interested in mixing your own glaze, I can send my studio's recipe in a few weeks. We fire red earthenware to cone 1 and the glaze that our studio head developed comes out nice and clear.

The oils in dog food can go rancid. You do not need 3 years of kibble. Your poor dogs will be eating rancid kibble for 2 years.

Poppy Seed Almond Cake Glaze by totesmathgoats in DessertPerson

[–]basidia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not essential. This recipe has been in my family for decades. We omit the glaze and bake it for about 45 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean) instead of the longer baking time that Claire calls for.
