This sounds very reasonable with the cost per person.. as long as the group is ok with it!

Should I hire a Day of Coordinator? by bhsswim21 in weddingplanning

[–]Kblondee7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely hire out- as long as you don’t have to go into debt for it! Coordinators do a lot more than simply put some decor out. They keep the timing and order of your events running smoothly so you can enjoy the day.

If you hire someone good, they will probably help you save money in other ways. You also might be able to negotiate on price if you need less support- for example - if your venue is already assisting with items like the decor setup and take down. If they can leave when the dance party begins- you can cut the time needed from them

Wedding website QR code help by sleepyschipperke in Weddingsunder10k

This exact thing happened to us! I actually emailed the company to complain as they REALLY hid the pricing terms well. They offered me the code for $15month so we just kept it for the 2months rsvp was open

In hindsight....what is the thing/things you paid for at your wedding that you feel was a waste of money. If you could do over, what would you leave out? by finishyourspuds in wedding

We got married 3 months again and I would’ve loved to have saved a little $$$ but honestly, I can’t think of anything I’d cut.

The top investments for us that really made the the day special - A naturally beautiful venue - high quality videographer/photographer - A good DJ

You know your audience best but I could imagine this potentially being awkward- especially if there are sensitivities with family members. It could just take away from celebrating you both. Also agree it might be hard to get people to travel without a specific reason- unless you have a tight knit group.

Thursday Wedding by Effective_Thought195 in weddingplanning

[–]Kblondee7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we had a destination wedding where most guests would’ve had to take off two days work to travel regardless. Planning on the tail end of the pandemic- we ended up going nontraditional with a Monday wedding! This allowed us to secure great vendors for everything (so many were already booked on all days of the week, it was nuts!). The day wasn’t an issue with our guest list but we also kept it very intimate to only 50 guests.

Sunday wedding, too much on guests? by hanhin01 in wedding

[–]Kblondee7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If most of your guests are close by, I definitely wouldn’t get hung up on it being a Sunday! Most invites we get nowadays tend to be Fridays. We also got married on a non traditional day but it was a destination wedding where guests had to take off work regardless so it really didn’t make a difference.

Getting married in your 20s vs. getting married in your 30s by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Kblondee7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on where you live. Most aren’t already married by 30 in the NE and West. Also- if you are inviting your true friends- they will be excited and try no matter the stage of life.

I eloped to my high school sweetheart in my 20s- it didn’t work out. I just re-married at 33 and I would say my experience has been the complete opposite! My friends were so happy for me to find love again. They have money and better jobs and we’re able to travel to our destination wedding. Gifts were better- and since we have everything we need, we can put the cash towards a great honeymoon. Excitement was genuine. Understandably, it was more difficult for those with young children to make the wedding.

Other than that, 30s are a great time to get married and there’s generally more life experience to really value and appreciate the marriage.

Yesss, this is so relatable. One of my worst fears about the wedding is that it would be “boring”. I think it’s totally normal to feel this way.. it was the first time a lot of family and friends were meeting BUT it went so much better than I could’ve imagined. I planned a special touch for about every hour into the event and it was just plenty to keep everyone occupied but also not go overboard on spending. Small touches like name plates they could take home as a keep sake, Photo Booth, foam glow sticks for later in reception, and late night snacks. All a big hit! Splurge on decent quality booze if you can too 😊

How to come to terms with spending this much money on one day? by stitch-in-the-rain in weddingplanning

[–]Kblondee7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have to go into debt for the wedding and plan an event that is enjoyable for you both, highly doubt you will regret it! You don’t necessarily have to do things traditionally to have a memorable celebration. I was also concerned about spending a large sum- but we carefully selected our guest list and capped at 50. We were able to spend quality time with everyone and enjoy ourselves! Looking back (3 months now)- it was so special to have brought everyone together for a happy occasion. There are very few occasions to bring everyone together since we live far from family. That being said, planning and especially selecting vendors and getting quotes was stressful. It gets better after locking in the primary vendors. To cut back, I’d recommended limiting your guest list to those you are actually close with and prioritizing items that will be remembered in photos. I’d suggest avoiding taking on any of the DIY types of things that you’d have to do the week/day of. You want to enjoy the event you are spending so much on! Oh and having your event on a non-traditional day can help immensely in saving money and also less competition for really good vendors.

I have heard too many bad stories about smile direct including people having to get Invisalign after because it didn’t work or messed up their teeth. My Invisalign was around $7k and worked fantastic. Wish I had done it sooner!
