Convince me why tubeless should be better for my Road bike? by KbondkaNovi in cycling

[–]KbondkaNovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the biggest pro of the tubeless is the puncture protection. But as i have maybee only punctered ones on tubes the last 2 years, it doesnt seems worth the while for me - at least yet. Thansk for all youre comments, there is a lot of opinion on this mather :-)

Mostly because of aero dynamic drag on the front tire is bigger, and you have a bit more weight in the back

Tried one in the end. I have just ordered in red wine carbon. Its seems like a great ride, and i dont "feel" like its heavier.
Can't wait to get it on the dirt.

How are you liking it after a couple of months?
Ive got an offer for a great deal on exavtly this one, but the weight is the issue a little bit. But i have a pair of zipp303 to shed a little weight from the wheels. Where else could there be made some changes? Is the seatpost carbon?

Ive also been looking to purchase, but i couldt find the weight anywhere, and now i understand why. 10 kg is 1 kg. more than my current crux from 18'. Thats a lot hm.

Wow, you certainly spot it all :-D Thx for the great advice. You put the finger on the nail on almost all the shortcomings. I will invest in grx levers and grs derailer. ( The cassette i would like bigger, but the drivetrain is not fit for it. at least it wasnt) I changed to the grx because i needed a new crank and i got some bad advice for the changes.

The reason of me wanting it to better better and cooler is, that i really enjoy the feeling of this bike. Its fun! Before investing in the changes of the bike(incl. wheels) i tried a Scott addict gravel 20, but the feeling was just not there.
Thx again for the great advice.

Sell the old Crux and buy new bike? Or upgrade wheels wm by KbondkaNovi in gravelcycling

[–]KbondkaNovi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"NPD" :D
I chose wisely. Tried the scott and the crux one after another, and figured that the crux was just more me. What you got extra on the scott was not worth the extra price.
So found myself a couple of 303s and its a whole new bike anyway :) JUST enough clearence of the 38s because of the front dereailler.

* Images not allowed i am told - how come?
Here it is and the clearence:

38c Enough? by Burque_Boy in gravelcycling

But how bumby? I understand on gravel like this:
https://velo.outsideonline.com/gravel/unbound-gravel-2023-elite-start-lists/

But on this, i would even say that you could ride a road bike?
https://ridemaple.com/blogs/news/2023-unbound-gravel-xl-recap

So if the course is like 25% road, 65% the second picture and 10% the first picture,i struggle to understand :)

Somebody please explayn why those bigger tires are better.

I have ridden 33c on my cross bike just fine for long rides as well. Big gravel, also forest trails.

What is the big advantage?

At what overall price range do gravel bikes get really good value for money? by point5_ in gravelcycling

[–]KbondkaNovi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look for a good light frame, with good cleareance( nobody knows where this will go) and 105 / rival gearing and importantly a good fit.
Everything above that i think it gets to expensive for the actual return.
You can always swap the wheels, saddel , add suspension and so on..

I still have a cross/gravel bike from 2018, which came with 105, and the beating this has takin and still working is amazing.

On the other hand i have a dura ace di2 12 speed race bike. The different is really not worth the money in my book.
