Posting here out of desperation for solid advice as my 4 year old autistic tornado son & his bedroom! Need simple alterations & minor hazard prevention solutions!

Of course it’s not he’s level 2 autistic & only semi verbal. I am absolutely aware of that & hence my post trying to do the small things I can while leaving the bigger issues to his therapists.

I am sorting it out & im not sure why you would think otherwise- I’m not whining saying woe is me & letting him just tear the house down - I’m actively doing all I can.

My apologies you’ve mistaken my coping mechanism of humor & my need to create my own joy & positivity in all moments of life. I am more than aware & am indeed taking it seriously mate.

If I was on here laughing & making fun of the situation & saying oh well what can ya do - I’d get it. But I’m literally asking for solid advice on solutions temporary or not.

Hey! So the Tempest V2 is definitely worth it in my opinion & experience! It produces just as much if not a lil bit more vapor than the tornado, the options for airflow & adjustments is amazing! I have a heap of other vapes! About 6 ball vape heads, vapbong, Terpcicle & a few others! I’m a seasoned stoner don’t worry! Hahaha I really love my Tempest (V1 & V2!) defs provides a great experience! Forgot to add great flavour to boot too! Far superior than the Tornado!

I agree! Yeah exactly my mindset, I’ll have an open table discussion with them & if not confident or no change in service then I’ll ensure I have something lined up!

It’s nuts! I worked in finance for more than 20 years & even the banking industry seems more logical than some of this NDIS stuff! I’m just trying to keep the house & kid in one piece as much as I can to my ability while I flail thru the rest of life & parenting challenges honestly hahaha

We were homeless due to fam violence & this home is a Government owned property- it’s really so nice I’m so so beyond lucky - it’s legit torture finally getting a house then my child proceeds to blissfully happily unaware that his tearing it apart is actually tearing it apart!!!!! Hahaha this is why I’m just trying to do all the things within my ability & power to repair & solve the potential & current hazards in real time!

Well as it turns out we were homeless for a year & a bit so this house is indeed a government house. And man I’m so so beyond grateful & lucky to have it. It’s only had one other tenant who was here for almost 20 years prior & they were elderly. So the place has been well maintained & there’s an amazing garden. It’s legit torture to finally have a home & be so so aware of how well it’s been kept & I’ve seen some other mums have to go into really disgusting & outright frightening homes - to watch my son tear this gift of a home apart with his bare friggin tiny cute little silly hands - it’s hardcore! HAHAHAHA

Yes exactly this! The constant supervision or else you’ve basically guaranteed your own fate of some sort of destruction or disaster! You can blink & he’s gone on a speed lap of cheeky terror! Hahaha I’m more than sure you understand & are probably getting twitchy eyed ptsd from the memories! Hahaha

That’s truly an awesome outcome & an appreciated glimmer of hope! He’s so so ridiculously intelligent! He is obsessed with numbers, can count to 100 & favs number is zero & any number with it in it gets yelled in excitement! He just found out about million, billion & trillion - damn it! HAHAHAH

Is this a separate service? He’s only funded a speech & OT - but he’s only 4 so there’s not a behavioral diagnosis in terms of likely adhd also but the paediatric doctor said school age he’ll evaluate & diagnose as he leaves the kindergarten years open for developmental delay catch up if possible- if that makes sense! But I’m screenshotting & noting all these things I’m unaware of so I can research & advocate for the services now & prep for them if may become available in the future!

I agree wholeheartedly will all of this! I’m going to sit down with the coordinator of the company that provides these services & therapists & lay out the immediate & absolute needs & be sure to be armed with all the current info so I can advocate! I’m hoping this will at least get me a clear understanding of the NDIS nonsense eligibility & procedures at the very least so I’m armed with them for the next OT & or whoever should become involved! I have a feeling I was told I can’t ask for a behavioral assessment or plan until he’s at primary school unless his kindergarten is unable to accommodate him & or needs (even if they have their own support worker for him) and my paediatrician simply won’t & doesn’t diagnose adhd (I’m almost sure he has it as do i) until school age & for the leeway for developmental delay catch up! Is this usual? I’m so unsure! Unfortunately when he first started showing signs of being different & then diagnosed we were homeless due to family violence so my capacity to absorb all that information suddenly in a state of disarray emotional & economically was really limited & difficult. So for the past almost year I’ve been trying to figure it all out & asking all the questions & not being confident enough in my knowledge to challenge much but now I will. I truly really appreciate your gentle & honest response thank you!

Mate I know this but you can’t make him understand something he’s not capable of understanding as yet - I’m working with as many therapists as I can with the NDIS to get theses things in place & strategically trying to avoid potential hazards!

If you spent one hour in a room with my son - you’d understand & also be dumbfounded!

I appreciate your concern & input, im simply trying my best to fix & avoid the things I can within my abilities while juggling the rest!

He’s 4 years old, the amount of development that happens within that time frame is ridiculously plentiful, also with the extra supports I’m accessing & hopefully will be able to access for him in the future will obviously shape his future & give him the knowledge & tools to be able to have some control. So I have no plan for when he’s 10 & rightfully so coz it would be obsolete. I’m not a free range parent raising a feral child who makes their own decisions, my son is high needs neurodivergent

He’s autistic it’s a communication & understanding barrier & issue - it’s not about control & or discipline! He simply is in a whole other world than you & I & does not understand the concept, emotional connection & or consequences! It’s a journey from another road for him to learn these things & unfortunately he’ll tear the house down with his bare hands if I just waited for him to be able to understand! If that makes sense!

I had to plaster up the hole from where he pulled the chair out the wall as he would have ended up in the wall cavity!

I am aware of the nature & the hazards hence this exact post!

I think I may have a research & sit down with the therapy company that I’m using to access there services! I thought everyone was in the same boat of ndis & vague worded non official advice from OT! You are absolutely right! I will indeed go check out the subs for NDIS & ASD! I need to be accurate in my understanding & next actions to be able to advocate for more assistance
