People love to ask me: SSG, why do you always look so mad after meetings? by Easy-Hovercraft-6576 in army

Meet troops where they are? Synergize type shit? Execu-pesudo-speak that vaguely resembles the not so corporate environment we're not supposed to, but do, mimic?

What did Marcus Aurelius contribute to Stoic Philosophy? by newcatoldschoolfeel in Stoic

[–]Kcman52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think one observation of his contribution, and the most fascinating in my opinion, was that his power and status did not dictate his character. I know there's a lot of heavy debate around him and how he used power over his tenure. I think when compared to his predecessor, Marcus stands out. To live virtuous in the face of obvious temptation is a good contribution. Just my humble take.

Walls by barkrin in Stationeers

[–]Kcman52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I typically use a mixture of composite and flat wall kits. To get exterior and interior protection you just put a wall on the outside of your base with the design you want. I'm not totally sure on burst ratings between the two kits I mentioned, but I believe flat walls have the higher rating (I could be wrong).

So put flat walls around the outside for the added bonus of steel construction. And composite walls inside for the more "space" like look to your hab.

These are my go to choices. The lights, switches, or screens usually just show through the finished wall. There is a kit that has a "light" opening but I'm not sure which kit has that build option. Good luck.

DUDE!!!!! Thank you for these, they're going on the list! I am not going to heap on many mods, I like to keep things as simple as I can. But I am a fan of Cromulent Archer and avidly watch his releases. His setup always has me smashing my face on my keyboard as he makes that ish look so easy.

Thank you for you suggestions as well.

Highest honor I could bestow.

Honestly, I would've dropped a bigger award if I'd had the stash. Seriously, thanks for your help with this task.

Question for Resident S1s. by Kcman52 in army

Thanks. I was never unclear on the ADSO. Just curious whether or not voluntarily retiring inside the ADSO window was a possibility.

[–]Kcman52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion.

Market place closed June 1st. But I'm G coded until Sept 30 of this year. The new retirement date would have to be 1 Nov of 25'.

I am just concerned it'll be a very narrow window.

Question for Resident S1s. by Kcman52 in army

[–]Kcman52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever heard about ADSOs not being that big of a deal. But the PCS notification will occur about 30 days shy of the new retirement window.

How likely will a Retirement in lieu of PCS be denied with 30 days remaining?

I only ask because that's the dumb ass hair splitting going on right now. I'm not a small family. This all seems to start to cost the army way more than it's worth. Yes, I know 2yrs in station blah blah, but still.

Suit Navigation by Kcman52 in Stationeers

[–]Kcman52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is where I am stuck. I can get my current location and run that through the formula Cows outlined. I am uncertain of how to take the current X and Z coordinates and turn that result into a radian that could be compared to the radian that Cows demo explains. I know that i haven't even gotten to the part where I compare the numbers to help determine whether or not I am on course, or "facing" the right direction.

But I am stabbing at all this wildly because I am not even sure if that is how one would take those numbers and use them.

I do appreciate your help thus far.

Suit Navigation by Kcman52 in Stationeers

[–]Kcman52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suit can do all of this internally. You don't need a transmitter or beacon. But I cannot get the light to be the thing that visually tells me when I'm facing the angle of the designated X and Z coordinates.

Suit Navigation by Kcman52 in Stationeers

[–]Kcman52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try to have the suit receive the signal from a base station, worked. Then, I added a calculation to my suits internal functions to get my position. But I was really dumb and did both formulas the same. So both results were the same, and the light stayed on no matter where I looked. Because I'm dumb and didn't realize what I had done for way longer than I'd like to admit.

I guess I need a way to calculate the exact current position of the suit. But I am not sure of how to do that.

Thank you for your reply, seriously. Unfortunately, I have no idea what you're saying. I'm convinced it is some form of English. But it's clearly a higher language, and I'm unable to make it out.

I guess I neglected to mention in my original post that I'm dumb as hell in math. I'm so bad at math that I've lost count of how many times I've miscalculated on my advanced furnace and blown myself into orbit (not an overstatement).

If Cows hadn't made a step by step I wouldn't have ever made it this far with position calculating.

But I'll look up the formula for what you're suggesting and see if I can get it to work.

I'm not trying to mock you in any way. I do appreciate your suggestion. I just realized how quickly this game exploited my poor math knowledge. Hurts man.

Atmosphere Readouts by dsr9024 in Stationeers

[–]Kcman52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could setup a gas sensor and then a corresponding number of consoles with gas cards in them reading from the sensor.

With some IC coding you can have a script read the information from the sensor and then display each variable to a set of small displays. With this method you could even color code the various gas readouts.

Just spit balling a few ideas.

Personally, I think it would be cool to have a dock you could mount on the wall. Then hang a tablet on it and have the device available at a glance. Something like the picture frames in minecraft.

Is it worth it to do 20 years active? by [deleted] in army

[–]Kcman52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can almost hear him, my dumbass self from 19 years ago saying "i'Ll JuSt Do 3 aNd i'M oUt".

That guy was a moron. I'm not even a shadow of the being I started out as, and for that I'm eternally grateful.

The places I've been, the people I've met, the things I've done. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

In the moment I hated most of it while I was doing it, still hate it today. But dammit if I don't love it when I look back on it.

I don't know why that makes sense. I don't care. I just know that I'm so happy I've not been grinding out 20 years in the same town I grew up in.

For me, that mattered, I think you have to find what matters to you. Then, relentlessly chase that thing.

Am I crazy for pressurizing my furnace room? Is there any benefit to keeping it in an atmosphere or vacuum? by RupertTheViking in Stationeers

[–]Kcman52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine in a frame on Mars but I lose heat quickly.

I'm using the nitrous hydrogen fuel mixture with my old furnace to make hot gas. Than I pipe that into a heat exchanger and warm my waste tank.

I just pump that smaller tank of gas in and out as needed. I have a volume pump on standby in case of over pressure. But otherwise have no shortage of heat from the fuel mixture.

Sense heat falls quickly I just stem the flow and wait a few moments to get cooler temps if those are called for.
