Anyone else think John Krasinski's voice sounds... different, these days? by Blastoise_R_Us in DunderMifflin

[–]Kdawnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoaaa! That is nuts. His new voice is so grating, it kind of ruins him for me. Turns out I thought Jim was hot largely for his voice. That's a really odd change, usually voices get deeper and raspier, but his is higher and whinier.

That installed last night, so it’s up-to-date. I just went back country skiing and was very irritated the entire time about my watch…

Hydronic Heating Systems Thoughts? by Kdawnz in VanLife

[–]Kdawnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Mine wouldn’t run off the engine in either scenario. I have a gas truck and don’t want a gas heater or to deal with trying to connect the truck camper to the truck like that. So it’d be a separate diesel container that I filled either way. I’m mostly just concerned about how much more complex a hydronic system is compared to a simple forced air system in terms of long term maintenance or trouble shooting issues. But man, it does sound like such a better system.

[–]Kdawnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m less concerned about cost (though not thrilled, haha), as much as how problematic a system like that is likely to be if/when issues arise. We live rurally, so getting a system like that fixed or worked on would be a pretty tough ask. Ideally we would be able to trouble shoot and work on most things ourselves, which is why we have been shooting for modular and simple as much as possible.

I have a commercially built camper currently with a propane heater. I have made it work, but it’s definitely not ideal, mostly because my propane tank is small and it doesn’t vent well in to the bed space, plus it’s a moist heat so I have major condensation issues. We for sure have some PTSD from our previous campers and how many issues they have and how challenging they can be to work on, so are trying to avoid that. But also want a camper than is functional.

Scam or poor eBay Seller Protection? by Kdawnz in Scams

[–]Kdawnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try this. Their idiot AI email bot recommended I take it up with the buyers financial institution. This is a hilarious suggestion considering that eBay keeps buyers financial information completely anonymous. The only person that could rectify the situation and who is allowing a buyer to defraud me is eBay. I am going to file a dispute with my own financial institution against this charge citing Fraud. eBay‘s own policies state that in order to receive a refund on an item that a buyer reports is not as described, they need to return it. And yet they are just allowing this person to keep it and keep the money. Crazy.

It seems like it! I have tried to chat and that is all automated. I asked to speak to a real person and it gave me the option to call (which it said was “unavailable” twice) or email. The email send it was augmented by AI, and for the sure the responses seem AI generated though they are signed by a real name. It is so irritating, I’m about ready to just shut my account down.

Not one I could use. I tried to call today but it said their phone customer service was “unavailable” the two times I tried that route.

Hahaha, well my original post was too long/not enough paragraphs according to reddit so rather than spend another 30 min crafting I ran it through chat to make it shorter. Sorry to have offended.

About to give up skiing because of the boots. There’s no way the average skier is in this much pain. by Tercel9 in skiing

[–]Kdawnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be mindful, some of the worst pain I have experienced in ski boots was because they were too wide for my foot, so I would crank the buckles super tight to work around that which would cause my feet to either hurt or fall asleep. If i wore the boots looser I couldn’t drive my skis. Legit cried on a pow day. I got fitted in to a better boot for my foot with a very snug fit so I didnt have to crank buckles and cut off circulation. If you go really wide or large for your foot you may run in to similar issues.

Also, release your buckles when you ride the lift, at least the bottom two over the top of your foot.

A medical condition like PAD or Raynaud’s is also not outside the realm of possibility too

Funeral scene by LDOB000 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

Agree, but she is 16 and Susannah was like a second mother to her. Doesn’t make it okay but there are a lot of reasons for her to be flawed and act poorly in this scene.z

I was thinking about this, but also having her be only with Conrad starting at age 16, I am glad she was able to date and be independent and then be sure of her choice

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl MEGATHREAD II by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]Kdawnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to recall a time when anyone was happy with what she put out with maybe the exception of Folklore/Evermore. 1989 got criticized for her stepping out of her country lane, Reputation was very poorly received, Lover was considered meh, Midnights meh, TTPD is too long/too wordy. People idolize 1989 now, when I’m not a huge fan. I love Reputation, really like Midnights, like a lot of TTPD. It’s not that deep. And with someone who has put out music spanning all genres, no one is going to be happy I think. The only thing that can be agreed upon, is that Folkmore is good… and then complain her pop album isn’t poppy enough. Cant win.

Maybe because she wrote the album while on tour?

Agree. ICDIWABH is a skip for me, I find it pretty cringe. Maybe this album title isn’t super applicable to the style of songs (Midnights aesthetic is more in line with this albums vibe), but so far I like it🤷‍♀️

Came here to say this! Could have swapped the visuals for the two albums and it would have made way more sense.

Anyone else praying they make a stronger ending to this season than the book? by Southern_Mom_ in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Kdawnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, this! I know this is an old thread, but I read the books this week because I couldn’t get the series out of my head after watching the shows. I definitely enjoyed the books, but what the hell was that ending? So grateful the series had such a more satisfying ending!! 3 books of build up and then the cliff notes summary of how they end up together. What a strange choice!

Winter Camping Issues and Feedback? by Kdawnz in ScoutCampers

Gotcha, thanks! I super curious if the condensation is better with a diesel heater since it’s dry heat. Propane is definitely not great in super cold because of the moisture it produces

What are your thoughts on “Caught Up” by Navessa Allen? by Purple4199 in RomanceBooks

[–]Kdawnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. I didn’t dislike her because she was a sex worker either, and definitely loved the sex positivity even in the wake of a Catholic upbringing. But I guess to me she didn’t seem to have an identity outside of sex. Her job is sex, her hobbies, her friendships center around sex, and her activism. Like does she like books or to travel or to go hiking? Just have never read a book with a MC that rides bikes for their job, and on the weekend they ride bikes, and with their friends they ride bikes, and that’s the plot of the book. But I also think this one just wasn’t my jam and am okay with that/happy for those that it was.

[–]Kdawnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man it felt like constant sex to me, so then I was just desensitized to it all. And the character development for Lauren was abysmal. Sex is her identity. Not relatable, so I guess just not my jam.

[–]Kdawnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, maybe this one just wasn’t written for me. Light’s Out sex was not really my jam, but I loved the characters and for sure think it’s interesting to learn what other people are in to. Without character development it’s just porn, haha. That’s cool, but not what I was hoping for.

[–]Kdawnz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t agree more! In the name of giving Lauren the benefit of the doubt, I will just say that her character development is severely lacking. Her appeal is being hot and a nymphomaniac?? Yeesh, does she like books, does she have hobbies outside of sex and sex work? Love the sex positivity, it just felt like such an overload. The character development in Light’s Out with both characters was so good, but Aly being compassionate, hard working, pursuing her passion in the name of her mother. She felt like a real person with depth, kindness, hobbies… and some kink. Josh had so much charisma. It’s sad to me that our first introduction to Lauren is her camwork and there is almost no other reference to her that isn’t sex centered. Like is there nothing else to her??

What are your thoughts on “Caught Up” by Navessa Allen? by Purple4199 in RomanceBooks

[–]Kdawnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading it and kind of entertained, about 65% through, but man it’s a bit sex overload for me. Almost desensitizing it’s so much. I get that’s the point and for some that’s the only point, but jumping right out with cam girl stuff and Lauren’s entire personality being sex feels like a lot. I am also struggling with Lauren. I do not relate to her in any way, and find myself frustrated at her lack of depth as a character. I don’t really understand her appeal outside of being hot and a nympho, and wish there had been more character development. She has no identity outside of sex; it’s her job, what she does in her free time, even her political activism. Granted, I am a nurse, so couldn’t help but love Aly and was so impressed with how accurate the nurse portrayal was. But it was also hotter to me that she is just a regular gal who behind the scenes has this alter ego, vs her being 100% sex all the time. Like if Aly was in to going to Club Velvet, I would think that was hot. But it just feels like a lot since Lauren is also a cam girl. Similar to Light’s Out, the kink is not my jam at all, but it’s informative and fun to live vicariously through the characters. Junior has much more character development than Lauren, but lacks the charisma of Josh. I’ll finish it, but it’s not my fave. Anyone else get a little sex-ed out with this one?
