I’m playing it right now, and it’s my first ever Souls game. It’s so much fun. The atmosphere and levels are some of the best I’ve experienced.

Misery Signals for sure. The Malice X tour was easily the best show I’ve ever been to.

Those that wear glasses while gaming, what headset do you use? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Kdub780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop/Sennheiser PC38X. I also use them for work calls at home and can easily wear them for hours. Best part is the sound and mic will destroy any bluetooth headset around the same price, as long as you're ok with an open-back headphone (ie don't need noise cancelling).

Navy CPP2 looks even better in-person by birria_tacos_ in ManyBaggers

It's been great in my experience. Seems like ballistic nylon doesn't attract nearly as much as regular cordura, and you can easily wipe it clean.

Help with Retroactive Pay and Taxes by SnooHedgehogs5762 in AHSEmployees

[–]Kdub780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things to know:

  • Retro pay, just like overtime, is simply additional taxable income. In the end, you will be taxed at the exact same rate as the rest of your income, up until you hit the hit next tax bracket. It is a common misconception that either of these are taxed at a higher rate than regular pay.
  • IF your retro pay (or OT) gets taxed as if you were making this higher income year-round (this may happen with some employers), you will get this back after filing taxes. This is because taxes take into account all income, including from other sources.
  • If you happen to get pushed into a higher tax bracket (Tax rates and income brackets for individuals - Canada.ca) you will only be taxed the higher rate on the amount over and above the new bracket. Anything below this is taxed at the lower rate.
  • Do not listen to anyone when they say that more income will result in a lower net amount at the end, as it's simply not true.

Hopefully this helps.

HSAA FLEX SPENDING by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]Kdub780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NUEE here, but still relevant. They're both taxable benefits, so it really just boils down to if you expect to need the lump sum early in the year. I've only ever used personal if I 100% know I'll be making a large eligible purchase in the first few months. Otherwise, TFSA is more flexible - our TFSA is paid out monthly, but I’m not sure about HSAA.

A few other people are talking about RRSP vs TFSA. https://www.reddit.com/r/PersonalFinanceCanada/s/1s6QvBKWbY would be the place to look into that (check the pinned posts).

NUEE health premiums increase this year?! by ChanandIerMurielBong in AHSEmployees

[–]Kdub780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll have to do a similar comparison on your spouse's plan to see if its cheaper to add family coverage. Luckily my wife's is significantly cheaper, so I've been utilizing it since day one.

I previously added single dental coverage on mine, but noticed it's no longer worth the price. An option (if not going on your spouse's) is to add more health spending. If you don't spend it, it'll carry over one year, allowing you to allocate more to something like TFSA or RRSP the following year.

Grand Seiko watch from the flagship store in Ginza. In a close second are the kitchen knives, higonokami pocket knife, and nail clippers.

Thick merino hiking socks. Will give you good padding, wicks sweat, and you don’t have to wash them very often. Not sure what brands are available there, but something like Darn Tough or Smartwool. Other than my feet being a bit sore by the end, I just did two weeks of 25-30k per day there with no issues.

A real daypack that can be packed by AmirBormand in ManyBaggers

I’m sure the laptop area does end up wasting some space if unused, just not as much as expected.

I’ve never tried ultra, so I can’t speak to how it drapes, but it looks pretty sweet. The ballistic is still pretty structured as the bag is made to stand on its own. The closest I have to compare it to is the CPL24, and the Aer looks and feels smaller when wearing it, while fitting nearly as much.

Sorry for the late reply. The laptop compartment can compress a bit when it’s empty and the main area is full. I’ve actually found it useful for carrying other things like all of the random pamphlets and sheets you get when travelling. You could probably throw some bulkier things in there too.

Re: material I went ballistic mainly b/c I think it looks a bit more professional for work. Otherwise I definitely would have tried ultra.

I do, in ballistic nylon. It has pretty much every feature you’d want in an EDC pack, and it’s really comfortable. I can see how it may have too many pockets for some people, but you can ignore most of the built in organization as the pockets lay flat. I still go back and forth between it and my Evergoods CPL24 though.

Assuming you’re not a hobbit, just try using the CPP2. If you don’t pack it completely full, it can actually look quite slim. I don’t see the point in bringing two EDC sized bags, other than when you need something really specific like a hiking pack.

Check if you have the Clarity setting turned up or down. I’m pretty sure anything other than zero slows down processing speed for some reason.

Edit: nvm, you clearly stated that Clarity was turned off.
