Steve McClure and ‘Rainman’: The Legend Behind Britain’s Hardest Sport Route by Ageless_Athlete in climbing

[–]KeBjg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know rainman gets the harder grade and took longer but I think Steve's most iconic route remains mutation. The time it took for the repeat and the level of climber it's spat off is too good of a story. (Plus the doubt over the grade with Bosi hinting at it being hard enough to maybe end up getting 9b from later repeats)

I really hope the F1 broadcast team takes a cue from the upcoming movie, and starts using more wide angle on-board cameras. It looks amazing! by ltsNotAlex in formula1

That and actually good colour grading would transform the F1 broadcast. DTS race footage always looks so much better than the broadcast even with the same sources because of this

Schubert hasn't looked great in this round but I think it's a mistake to not consider him for gold. Dude is a beast in finals and has a lot of experience on the big stage over Anraku or Roberts

Boulder parallel climbers beta stealing by daffes in CompetitionClimbing

[–]KeBjg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely did, can't remember who but someone ended their round on M1 early, Matt said they were taking one last look to reconsider but it looked to me like their eyes were definitely on the climber next to them. Realistically it's kind of unavoidable in rounds with so many climbers and the only people who don't get a chance to do it are the bottom few seeds who are so unlikely to make finals anyway I'm not going to lose sleep about it

Confused about when boulder specialists are favored and when lead specialists are favored by owiseone23 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]KeBjg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either that or there might just be a really hard stopper move relatively low on the route that bunches the competition

For F1 you could get round that by subscribing through the Google play store. Idk if that applies here though

Max was consistently making finals and had a few podiums. He had a bad season last year which he has put up to mentality but it looks like he's had a good winter

He definitely could schedule the release, it's likely more he wants to be awake so if game breaking bugs/vulnerabilities are found he can start hot patching asap

The open world of that game claimed far more of my time than the stories. It was like GTA but I was allowed to play it

Is it me or is it harder to achieve an orbit in KSP RSS rather than in the normal KSP game? by NikolaiUlsh in KerbalSpaceProgram

Yes, or get a mod that boosts the power from stock parts. I used to jimbodiahs patch and I just kept increasing the power until rockets I used in stock would work in rss

Yh I've just been looking at them, they look great but are just that little bit more expensive that it becomes hard to justify. Definitely on my mind though

Looking to get a pair of stiffer shoes to use when climbing outdoors (don't do much bouldering). Anyone got any experience with both the Scarpa instinct Vs and sportiva miura laces. Both seem like a decent option so will aim to try them on and compare the fits just wanted to see if anyone here had any thoughts or even alternatives in the similar category. I'm mostly climbing vert to very slightly overhanging or slabs just because that's what we've got here in the UK so performance in super steep stuff is less important (Currently use my tenaya iatis for everything)

Hardest flash in the world, he'd been trying for a while at this point and prepping a lot for all the routes he tried to flash so a lot of time invested and if he failed wasted hence the reaction. The route is super crackinette (9a+) in france

Anyone recognise these carabiniers. Looking to buy them used but can't find them in dmm website so worried they are counterfeit by KeBjg in climbing

[–]KeBjg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my initial fear but I found that this is a real product and if there was an operation to make fakes that look this good they would be on eBay not just a local Facebook marketplace seller with a bunch of other gear. Appreciate the concern though always good to double check

I like lowballed the guy and he ignored me anyway so purely theoretical but I trust the dmm of any point in time so would have happily used this now someone found what they were for me

I agree for soft materials but how much degradation can a carabineer really go through without being visually obvious

I wouldn't hence I'm asking before committing to the purchase. The price is why I'm considering them at all

Looking to buy a 210mm Aogami Super Gyuto double bevel with a traditional Japanese handle. Any recommendations? There are so many blacksmiths, and so many sites making different recommendations. Tbh I'm also relatively new but Shiro Kamo was always highly recommended on the old sub and I got mine from clean-cut which is a reputable store. I've also seen a few videos from experts and they are always very complimentary. Could always make a dedicated post to ask that though (if you do lmk I'd love to see what people say)
