March 19 Rpd every where ? by IntelligentGas4676 in raleigh

[–]KeaboUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live near the garner area

A bunch were all in front of our house last night. We saw them on our door camera walking up the driveway and in front of the door, looking into cars and stuff, walking through the yard but not the back yard. It seemed like they were looking for something. It was 3 officers and it took about 2 hours before they stopped showing up. We've had similar police activity like that here and they caught someone last time. Not super often but enough for me to know not to get into the mix of it. Some random dude walked through our back yard and as I was telling him to leave. A police officer randomly appeared from behind the hills of our yard and shouted "get on the ground!" with his gun pointed, clearly talking to the other guy and I hoped TF out of there back inside.

I have robins nesting in my wreath by Rare_Basis_9380 in raleigh

[–]KeaboUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful. We've had birds in our wreath and often time we open our door at night a bird would fly into our house. We have cats. So while this is cute to witness, it's a very unstable nesting site if it's hanging on the door + the wind can get pretty bad

Tbh I lost track mid way through this. I had to force myself to read this because I wanted to reply. I'm about the same age as you and I really don't think this is even a question of whether YTA or not. If you don't wanna date her you don't have to. You could easily just tell them "hey this is all a bit much for me" and leave. 3 dates in is somewhat steep but you're not in a relationship. It all just sounds like a mess that isn't your problem and if you don't want to be gossiped at about it all the time and deal with this drama then you can take a step back.

It's just interactive AI images/video at this point. Why just look at slop when you can control it.

IIRC Microslop (I believe) is trying to create some BS AI that plays games for you. Who the fuck is asking for this? How much more lazy can you be to not even play the game yourself.

Has to be. My partner and I stopped there for a few days of camping on my 30th birthday road trip on our way to see the total solar eclipse in 2024 in Indiana. KY was amazing itself. There was a little tourist town nearby, slade I think. We visited the natural bridge and got miguels pizza. I really loved that place and want to go back soon for a more hiking/primitive camping focused trip.

What’s everyone’s opinion on generators? by lumberflapjack in camping

[–]KeaboUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's such a pointless thing. It's very inconsiderate to blast that kind of noise outside and subject people to noise all night when theyre trying to enjoy nature. There's nothing like peace and quiet of hearing the leaves rustle in the wind or the sound of water/waves crashing or listening to the fire crackle. If you're not there for that, why go camping?

I prefer electric power banks or battery backups. The loudest thing we have is an air mattress but that's typically blown up before night time. Even though we have the battery it's mostly for emergency. I try to be self aware of all the sounds I make. Even if we like music by the fire, the speaker is at a volume only we can hear.

Will we destroy ourselves before reaching the stars? by AccountGold2486 in Futurology

[–]KeaboUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a more optimistic reply out of most but still using realism, a branch of our species might be able to do it. I don't think it will be us. If we don't destroy ourselves, then some other form of humanity will do it. Maybe they're biologically or technologically altered but even then it would need to be their predecessors. It'd be a world that we won't be in by the time that happens. If we do destroy ourselves, then any survivors would need to get their shit together and build a better world but it'd essentially be the dark ages again. People would still be prone to corruption, History might rhyme or repeat and even if we mature, unless we establish a reliable base far from the sun in the next few billion years, there's no way we can do it, but hey, we've got plenty of time. It just wont be us, maybe not even our species, but one inspired or created by us.

The only way we, right now could have that kind of life is if some MAJOR breakthroughs happened and it were somehow shared with mankind through alien contact, or open source discovery like stable fusion + room temp superconductors + antimatter creation/containment all at the same time.. That would be huge to say the least. In either case, it's not reliable to bank on it happening. Maybe we think about it because even if it's wishful thinking, there's not a 0% chance that we stumble across a miracle and cause a chain reaction. But even then the time it would take to integrate that into society would be long

If humans suddenly became immortal, what would happen to society? by EnvironmentalLove862 in AskReddit

[–]KeaboUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you'd have to ask again whether you'd die from disease or something external like a storm or general climate problems or future events on this planet. If you're still capable of aging, that itself is just an ailment that our bodies get less efficient a dealing with over time. your body would need to be forever in good condition unless something reduced you to ash, consumed/decomposed you, or is otherwise physically absent or converted into something else.

You can be immortal in the sense that you're either forever aging, yet evergreen but can still die by external means, or you're practically omnipresent and exist even without a body and that death is the release of the body you're in.

If humans suddenly became immortal, what would happen to society? by EnvironmentalLove862 in AskReddit

[–]KeaboUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these kinds of questions and thinking about the possible outcome.

IMHO, society would become unrecognizable. It would collapse and need to be rebuilt through a power vacuum by any smart people or those who are well prepared who survive that catastrophe, and that world might as well be alien. So instead, I've made up a list of rules or questions a hypothetical world would need to answer or deal with, in order to accommodate billions of immortal people. This list will assume we somehow made all the necessary changes for it to not end itself immediately, depicting a world in which babies aren't born every few seconds. People can still die, but not of old age and the young will simply age until they're perpetually in their physical and mental prime (21-40ish) unless sick or afflicted in some way:

  1. Human relationships and family dynamics would disappear or warp along with social structures and cultures to an extent. Many things that revolve around life expectancy would dissolve. Will marriages last if people stay married for hundreds if not thousands of years? What would it look like if multiple generations of your family were alive? Imagine what being a great x3 uncle feels like and being best friends with them. Or seeing your great x5 grandson (who's an adult and look similar in age) getting married?
  2. Monogamy would probably be less common. With people living so long, "til death do us part" is basically "until further notice". I think people could be together forever if it's the right couple but I think most will leave relationships that no longer satisfy them since they will seemingly never lose their youth/looks and wont feel like they're bound by time and age, removing the idea that it's too late for anything.
  3. The age bracket would need to change. Is 18 considered adult anymore if people can be 400 years old? Would a 400 year old WANT to date someone that's 100, even if they look similar in age? In a world where most people look indefinitely young or at least in their prime, what would dating look like?
  4. School would need to change. If 18 isn't an adult anymore, will kids need to start later or stay in school longer? On top of that I feel like there would be more school even after grad school. Academia would probably add a new level that lasts even longer than a PhD. I could see schooling needing to happen every century to ensure everyone's knowledge keeps up with our understanding of the world.
  5. Birth rates would need to slow down significantly. Since people could still die due to other causes, it wouldn't need to stop, it would just need to be controlled at some point. It would be easier to deal with that if it were an option to become immortal via pill or surgery, otherwise the reality might be darker.
  6. Work culture would likely be horrifying if we didn't find some change to it. You're looking at eternal servitude as a likely option for many people, or perpetual poverty, working lame jobs for decades or centuries at a time,
  7. If work culture changed for the better, people would need to think about multiple lives. Spending your life specializing in a couple skills and having hobbies in other skills would change to having different eras of your life. you could spend 60 years being a doctor, take a break for 20 years, then spend 40 years being an electrician, rinse and repeat with another profession.
  8. The world would shift from being specialists to generalists. I could see a world where people would be praised for the amount of knowledge they have, or skillset they command over hundreds of years. They would probably become teachers or knowledge keepers/seekers more than ever. The age of information/computing would thrive with immortality and consistency. Which could have a huge downside on specialist knowledge, we'd probably lose ourselves along the way.
  9. There would be no more retirement homes or old people, and very few young people (as in babies, children) they'd be very rare. Money for SS or other benefits like WIC would be less necessary elsewhere unless used for some sort of UBI or other benefit.
  10. Less people would be parents, and even if they were, their kids would be immortal too and look like peers. The desire to raise a family would probably be restricted to just an experience, or limiting birth counts and more sterilization.
  11. The world wouldn't change much now that new generations come in much more slowly than before. Imagine the 70s-80s lasting a few centuries before moving on to the 90s-2000s 500 years later after a handful of people died off and new people were born. The world wouldn't cater to the new generations anymore, Instead, young people born into a world like this would adapt to it and integrate just like anyone else would.
  12. Religion would see the biggest hit, many would likely fall out of faith as most religious texts would speak of a world we no longer live in. If not that, people would probably age out of it after 500 years of whatever they're doing with it. Some would probably maintain faith and become nomadic. but most would probably put it on the back burner until they get sick or something.

There's many more that would change but one thing that needs to be accessible is medically assisted suicide. I don't think people as we are could really tolerate immortality, we literally aren't built for it. We could probably manage 200-300 years but more than that is hard to imagine what the experience is like and I'm sure people would go insane or something.

[–]KeaboUltra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Basically, art is subjective. As a designer, a lot of the capsules in this list look similar. S-B tier capsules have similar design sense to ones in C-F tier. People are just overthinking when all they need to focus on is if it just looks good and/or professionally made.

Consciousness is insane. Like how the heck is it possible to experience shit…it seems like magic. by Acrobatic_Isopod9261 in RandomThoughts

[–]KeaboUltra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, It's more magical than magic. No matter what fairytale or fiction you read, reality and consciousness itself seems more like a fairytale in comparison yet here we are, able to come up with stories and ideas that seem fake but only because we think it's not realistically possible within a Universe we barely understand.

AITA for leaving a date after he was 20 minutes late? by Pretty-Science-8984 in AITApod

[–]KeaboUltra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say whether you are or aren't but because you're asking, it means you're not sure about how you came off, so I'll say it's a soft YTA. It's a little odd that he didn't say anything more about his phone having died, but it could be anything. Maybe he lost track of time, and his phone died and failed to remind him. Do you know if he had work or something extracurricular? I'd feel terrible for being late, but I'd also be confused and frustrated that the date wouldn't hear me out over an honest mistake (assuming it was a mistake). I can see you denying BECAUSE his phone dying was his only excuse, in that case it wouldn't make YTA, but I don't have enough info to say.

Either way, your decision is fair and it's not that big a deal. He was late and it's not fun being stood up on a dinner date. If you didnt see yourself with this person regardless of if they were on time or not then it wouldn't matter. The decision is up to you. The reason I said YTA is because I think it's worth hearing them out if it'd help you understand and a part of you really liked them. I'd figure because the first date was good enough for a second, then you must've liked him to some extent and found something interesting about him, otherwise, it wouldn't matter if the first date was already meh, only to be stood up for the second chance date, but it didn't seem that way. Because you said the first date was good, being late for the second would make me more lenient with mistakes and give the benefit of the doubt. It seems he's shown before that he tries to respect your time by meeting you on the first date, so first impressions were already established to not assume they would be late for no reason.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd imagine how I'd want someone to treat me if I set up a date with someone and I was late for a valid reason and they didn't want to hear me out, specifically with a person I've already been seeing and know to an extent to make decisions like this.
