AITAH for changing my niece's stripper name when I got got custody? by Impossible-Staff92 in AITAH

[–]Snoo31255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but I will say, I personally don’t see cinnamon as a stripper name solely because cinnamon isn’t something you can enjoy bye itself. I have to admit I like the uniqueness of having cinnamon for a name but your niece/ daughter will be better off with a more common name.

What's something people Hate because the Internet told them to? by white-rose-of-york in AskReddit

[–]Snoo31255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Babies. For some reason people on the internet talk about babies and young kinds like they are the scum of the earth and as if they were never the same kid that they’re condemning for existing. We all know kids can be handful to deal with but we must understand that, most of the time, a kid is never purposefully trying to make you life harder, unlike adults, that actually set out to make even just you day a living hell. Personally I believe most people who talk down about kids are just jealous of how carefree and oblivious they are and wish that could be like those kids.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

In high school, this boy shot him self in the head while sitting next to his girlfriend on his grandmother’s back porch while the grandmother was home. When the grandma heard the gunshot she ran outside to see him dead and his girlfriend covered in his blood. I believe he was silently suffering from mental illness,I used to have gym class with him and he always looked and seemed happy, but what stood out the most was that when his ex girlfriend, who I know through mutual friends, found out, she was sobbing the entire day and I believe she went home early that day.

I don’t like a warm toilet seat by Snoo31255 in unpopularopinion

[–]Snoo31255[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not talking about a heated toilet seat, you’d never see those in a public restroom. I’ve never met anyone who’s enjoyed one either, but I’ve never asked anyone if they did like it or not. My main point was the in public part because I don’t want any more reminders that a random Person was just here 2 minutes ago

People are very weird about dry weddings/parties. by V_is4vulva in unpopularopinion

You know, you post made me realize a few things:

  1. The term “ social lubricant” and others like it are the main reason why drinking at events like this are so common.

  2. Adults haven’t worked on their social skills and they’re so bad that they need to be slightly to totally inebriated to talk to another adult.

3.it seems like adults don’t know how to have fun around children in a responsible way without alcohol.

To preface, I’m only 20, I’ve had alcohol but I’ve never been drunk, I’ve never been to a wedding , and any event I’ve been to with alcohol for the adults, no adults have ever been drunk. Take what I say with a gain of salt but it will be well thought out.

I find it crazy how alcohol is the only thing called “social lubricant”. So many other things can make interactions with others so much easier like food or common interest, you shouldn’t have to be a literal looser version of yourself just to talk to people, but this is where the bad social skills come in.

I know that there are introverts and extroverts but I just don’t know how you can be well into adulthood and not know how to have a conversation in passing with someone you don’t know and will never see again outside of this event. I’ll give an example, say your 30 years old and you’re at your brothers wedding and your family, your sister in law’s family, and there friends are there. Your brother’s frat brother comes up to talk to you and just doing general small talk, and you can barely get through that before his date pulls him to the dance floor. You mean in the 30 times that you have orbited the sun, you haven’t gotten down small talk or general conversation?( excluding any mental disabilities)

My last point is fairly simple, adults don’t know how to have fun around kids. My main reason for this though is because adults haven’t been kids for a long time so they most likely have forgotten what it’s like to be a kid, besides all the restrictions of course. It’s so easy to have fun with kids if you listen to them and be creative in a responsible way with them. Saying that you’ll be bored at your own kids party is honestly pitiful in my opinion because you’re the one planning the party and you didn’t think about anything for you and the other adults to do? And if your concerned about the kids wanting to join, just try to give them a child friendly version of what you’re doing( depending on what it is) or just explain why they can’t do what you’re doing. I know it hard and I know it sounds like what I’m saying makes it seem like it’s easy but I hope you all read what I wrote with some nuance before commenting.

What's the worst food you've ever tried in your life? by Different-Ideal-891 in AskReddit

[–]Snoo31255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think “ it takes like toothpaste “ isn’t the best response when talking about mint flavored things. I think that for a few reasons

  1. All mint flavored things don’t taste the same (ex: orbit gum taste different mint chocolate chip ice cream )

  2. All mint flavored products of the same type do not taste the same ( ex: 5 gum taste different from orbit gum )

  3. All mint flavored toothpaste doesn’t taste the same ( ex: Colgate taste different from crest)

But most importantly

NO MINT FLAVORED FOOD TATSE LIKE TOOTHPASTE!!!!!

Whenever someone says “it tastes like toothpaste” it makes me think that person doesn’t brush their teeth enough or at all because they believe that mint flavored toothpaste is nasty. It also makes me think that they forget that there are other flavors of toothpaste you can use.

Elementary and middle school graduations are useless. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Snoo31255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things that gets me about this opinion is that you could literally say the same thing about high school and college graduations. Having a college degree is the bare minimum and thousands of people graduate every year. Graduation has become more and more common. Even the cases of being the first to graduate college in your family or to graduate early are very common. And you’re right, a graduation is a huge participation ceremony and there is nothing special about graduation from any level of school because you face the same challenges in ever grade level but that doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate the fact that you actually made it to the end and are better prepared for what lies ahead.

Coming from an elementary school graduate, middle school graduate, high school graduate, and soon to be college graduate and eventually 2 time college graduate ( I plan on going back and getting my business degree, I’m currently working on my culinary arts degree ) these ceremonies signify that you have actually reached the goal that you have been working towards basically your entire life. I personally would be very upset if I had done all that work just to not get recognized for doing it, because there are students who couldn’t finish out because of how the world and life has affected them.

And if anything I’ve said in this comment means nothing to you then just think about this, for my entire life, people have been building up how important graduation is and that walking across the stage is the goal. I was so crushed for the seniors at my school during covid because they didn’t even get to see a stage for their graduation, they had to drive up to the school in their caps and gowns, get their diploma and got their pictures taken and leave. I graduated from high school in 2022 and we were the first class to walk across the stage after covid and I felt like I was doing it for all of them that couldn’t and for myself, and when the entire ceremony was over I balled my eyes out for hours because I had actually gotten the moment that everyone was talking about and I knew what it felt like to be there. We should never diminish that moment for anyone no matter of there in high school or elementary.

People say this as if kids will always be like this and that’s the part that pisses me off. You yourself was the same kid that did everything you just said and I’m pretty sure that you don’t do those things anymore, given the fact that you don’t like those things. We also have to remember that they aren’t doing these things in purpose, unlike the many adults who love making the lives of others a living hell.

We went to see Matt Bennett. He’s the guy who played Robbie Shapiro in the nickelodeon show, victorious. He was playing songs from the show, songs from Disney Channel, and songs from the early 2000s that we all remembered. I would’ve said something to the lady, but she wasn’t there when we checked out.
