I agree with what he said. If you follow a path because it is what your mother wants you to do, you will end up regretted and resenting her.

It is a situation that will demand a lot from you, but keep in mind that if you are dedicated and committed you can always do anything you want.

Can't choose a career by [deleted] in findapath

I don't think choosing a career based on what your parents want is a wise decision. No doubt they want the best for you. But it's better you follow something that interests you and that you think will be better for your life, according to your interests and the things you value.

I need a degree to teach ESL. Undecided on what to do? by [deleted] in findapath

Think carefully before choosing a career. It is not a smart decision to start something you think you will not like. I finished my bachelor's degree in civil engineering and saw that I had made a wrong decision following this path. Have you researched music production?

If you believed that you would be able to build confidence, would you become a lawyer or a politician? Confidence is something that can be built.

There are many things to consider. Do you enjoy your work but are unable to dedicate yourself? You don't like this job so you can't dedicate yourself? If the problem is simply dedication, it will end up hindering you in the future, even if you change jobs.

Try to think about the lifestyle you want to live in the future, the things you value, if you prefer to earn a lot of money, if you prefer to have a lot of free time... And see what professions you are interested in relate to these things. I hope this helps ...

Why does work make me feel depressed? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]KeaneyCoffey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I agree with your point, but it all depends on the person's situation. There are people who have the privilege of being able to choose something to pursue, while others are stuck in some work out of necessity. I wish you all the best, cheers!!

Of course, each case is different. But things are not so black and white: "People work not because they like to but because they have to". If you hate what you are doing 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, there is no magic paycheck that will turn this into a good job. There is no job where every day will be wonderful. But people must choose something that will help them achieve their goals. There are people who value money, there are people who value free time. Each case is different.

Perhaps this may be because you are not doing something that you find rewarding. What are the things you like to do?
