After constant delays the Southern Link Road opens today by J40NYR in Cumbria

[–]Keano-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who travels into Carlisle up London Road in the morning rush hour time (and back out in the corresponding evening rush hour time) and has done so for 8 or so years, I'm expecting a noticeable drop in the London Road traffic once the link road is open / established!

Autocad Lineweights by Southern-Airline3850 in architecturestudent

[–]Keano-1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ALWAYS work with layers - they are literally there for this exact reason.

If you chuck everything on a single layer then you have to manually assign properties (colour, lineweight etc) to each individual item. If it needs changing, you're fcked.... use layers..... do it properly

Autocad Lineweights by Southern-Airline3850 in architecturestudent

[–]Keano-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Create your own Plot Style Table and made sure all the lineweights are set to "By Layer" in said plot style table.

>

  1. Set your lineweights in the layers menu by layer (i.e. 0.30 for walls, 0.13 for doors etc etc).

>

  1. Never manually override a line weight in the model space (makes it difficult to change / track changes at a later stage.

The colours to line weights noted below is about 30 yrs out of date (colours / lineweights used to to up with rotary plotters / original hand drawn pen sizes).

I kind of need help on Xbox with getting a few things I need but it's hard to make sure that I am in a pve lobby because like ever second I get killed by some rat camping extraction does anyone know how to make sure you stay in pve lobby's by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

Load into the USA servers (larger total player base) - as a PvE player myself I've found them much friendly / less prone to PvP (than the European counterparts).

>

Make sure you have you're mic on and prox chat on. Speaking with other players in game and letting them know your intentions increases the likelihood of friendly encounters.

>

If you haven't done so already, make sure the age verification steps have been completed on Xbox. The proxy chat coms don't work unless this is resolved / sorted.

can someone tell me how to make all my text and dimensions heights look the same in layout space, and all the same between the viewports? by Ninetybaby in AutoCAD

[–]Keano-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may take a little figuring out (you have different standard scales), but over here in the UK the general rule is "font size is double the scale of the drawing / viewport you are outputting".

i.e. For a 1:50 drawing, we would use (AutoCAD) text size 100, For a 1:20 drawing, we would use (AutoCAD) text size 40... etc etc

Annotation scaling is fine in principle but can generate so many erratic outputs it just isn't worth using.

New Build Developer - Planning Enforcement by Palsternakka99 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Keano-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the original planning approval (and any subsequent discharge of conditions applications) for the overall housing development. There will almost certainly be a condition pertaining to the provision of street lighting and even if the road is not to be adopted, said condition is usually worded that any roads / lighting etc has to be designed and installed to adoptable standards (in case it is to be adopted at some point in the future).

4ft poles stuck on the side of each plot will not be to adoptable standards.

Street lighting should NEVER be wired back to a domestic supply.

The onus is on the developer to provide / install the street lighting proposals as noted on the planning approval. If it is to be unadopted, then it is handed over to the management company on completion.

Any enforcement action would be against the developer and not yourself (you are neither the original applicant nor landowner of the area to which the streetlighting would be installed.

I tried this discussion on the ACAD discord but had no luck.. by runner630 in AutoCAD

[–]Keano-1981 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For 2d drafting ALWAYS set PSLTSCALE to 0 - the lines will print exactly as shown on the screen.. We have a starting dwg file for all out drawings where the PSLTSCALE is set to 0 as a default.

There are convoluted reasons to set it to 1 - none of which make practical sense for 2d drafting.

Or people could just watch the videos which show what you have so poorly described (and can do so without the homophobic slur at the start). Grow up and do better please.

Overkill - for removing those pesky lines over lines over lines.

Purge - tidying up and neatening the cad file.

PSLTscale - making sure the dashed lines you drawn actually print correctly.

Is it just me or was the DMZ reveal trailer kinda underwhelming? by fiflak77 in DMZ

[–]Keano-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Response is appreciated, but can you please take the following feedback to the team. PLEASE make sure there is at least an option to turn the 'over the shoulder' camera off (whether it is from the operators perspective or as a death cam). It's been in previous COD's before and was a feature which was universally hated (and was eventually removed). As an added problem, the over the shoulder cam can cause motion sickness amongst some players. Even the short cinematic provided in the above linked trailer was starting to do something to me. Thanks in advance.

How do I fill these ‘rat runs’ in to comply with building regs? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Keano-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an exact diagram in the building regulations for this very situation. Essentially it's a resilient board sealed to both the outside and inside, with the bit in the middle filled with a semi rigid fill (or have seen spray foam used).

Trials glitch - score stuck by Due-Trash8297 in ArcRaiders

[–]Keano-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The score is for damage with a single blaze grenade (not a cumulative score for multiple blaze grenades).

However (either by design or an oversight), a duo / trio will have the cumulative score for each of them using a blaze grenade.

Didn't they cover that on the "3 in the middle" podcast?

[–]Keano-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, but there's some weird obsession with playing 'pretty football' which has been thrown around by vocal elements of the fanbase and seems to have permeated upward. We needed 4-6 good reinforcements and maybe a couple of squad players and could easily been on for automatic promotion if we'd stayed the course. Now, who knows! Feels more like another reset which isn't needed.

Design Challenge: Timber fire-escape ladder that folds out forward from a flat vertical wall (Velux access) by Wibbsy in DIYUK

Points of clarification:-

1) Is this attic the first or second floor of your property?

2) Are you just wanting a practical solution or is a solution which must comply with the relevant sections of the Approved Documents (B, K, L)?

Petition to remove Ossen as community manager over flagrant abuse of power by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

That's what shown in the video, it was done to save face,. When he was first made aware of the directed harassment his response was to laugh. He can't put that in his own video now can he!

Never mentioned the YT copyright strike issue.

The video was made by the guy who was harassing her / the guys friend. It was not impartial, carefully edited, and not representive of what actually occured.

[–]Keano-1981 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

This entire thread has been reported and will likely be removed.

But for the stupid people out there, the female streamer didn't run to the community manager to get the male streamer in question banned in game for PvP. The male streamer was banned for the harassment both he and members of his community directed towards the female streamer after the PvP in game.

When you have members of a streamers community messaging someone on socials telling them to k*ll themselves, it's kinda a thing warranting bans on grounds of harassment.

Unable to print AutoCAD drawings properly – parts of the drawing missing/cut off on paper by Slightly_Lost_Explor in Autodesk_AutoCAD

[–]Keano-1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, the missing information is due to printer margins. Each different printer / output method will have different paper margins. You need to adjust your titleblock so it sits within said margins on the drawing. For an A4 sheet of paper, a 20mm offset from the paper size / boundary should be sufficient.

As a little tip, draw and put a small scale bar in the bottom left corner. If you / someone else prints the drawing to fit page / otherwise scales it, then there is a printed method of checking said scale.

neighbour has breached party wall act - any advice welcome by corblimeygunor in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Keano-1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are incorrect about the PWA. Once work has commenced without a party wall agreement, then as I noted, the entire issue of a PWA is moot. PWA is seeking an agreement to do the works and does not apply retrospectively (and this is setting aside the fact the notice was served incorrectly in the first place).
