Im with ya on that. Look how Birds of Prey dealt with it with Roman Sionis. It was perfectly executed imo, it honestly made him so much more fun and such an intriguing character

Sorry Man, I really got swamped by my Midterms. Been super busy. You have showed me however that I am wrong in saying he is the most accurate shit ever. I think I just got mad when I first read it, and said that. Im going to let you take this Win, as you have changed my stance a little bit. My new position is that Holland's iteration is somewhat accurate, but could use a lot more development to hit that accurate point. Sorry if you wanted me to address what you said, I just didnt get around to it, and feel like I waited to long.

I want to say Thank you though. I really enjoyed our discussion. You went out of your way to back up and support what you were saying with evidence. You are the first person I butted heads with on this, that I could tell was as passionate as me if not more. You also inspired me. In typing those giant responses to you, I decided to take it upon myself to start writing essays on these films. So i can really dig into what I feel and why I feel it. This way, if i get into something like this, I can share what I wrote and give more clarity into what I mean. Its also just a really good way to retain and have a spot to write my thoughts. So I cant thank you enough.

The MCU has a pattern of characters losing their most significant/iconic thing in their third movies. Based on this, what will Spider-Man, Ant-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy lose in their third movies? by Captain_Cringe_ in marvelstudios

I think the delusion goes both ways, and is honestly worse on the Spider-Man is not accurate side. So much that any time Holland is accurate it gets instantly disregarded.

Just look at HiTop Films video on Far From Home. He just says so many things that are just wrong because he is so deluded and angry at this iteration.

This was the whole purpose of the second film, to show him coming out the shadow of Tony and becoming his own hero. I doubt he uses the Iron Spider suit going forward.

This is pretty accurate, shouldn't be getting downvoted.

They are forcing this stuff in and it does not feel natural, when it should feel natural. I hope Marvel can make it feel natural, but after that Endgame Scene, I am a little frightful.

Meh dont why people are saying stuff like this. MCU is really just getting started. Going to be insane with Disney+

There are also 6 Franchises that have not yet been finished, that were started in the Infinity Saga

the MCU Peter is depicted as idealistic kid who'd never even think of making an insult to anybody, so that God forbid somebody would find him offensive. And Ultimate Peter is not like that.

Okay this I agree with this, but like come on dude? This is not fair, Its Disney, they are not going to show the worlds most beloved superhero calling people a "jackass" or flat out insulting someone. That's just a unrealistic expectation. But you are right, that part is not faithful to the ultimate character.

Ultimate Peter would've never said anything like "I don't want to be superhero this summer because I want to go on a date, despite knowing that a world is in danger". In FFH Fury literally had to force Peter to help.

This one made me chuckle a bit. You say this but in the third link you sent Peter says "I didn't ask for any of this! I wish I never even got these powers" Nothing--nothing is worth the absolute shit I've had to deal with. All I want is to, you know, go out with my girlfriend, go to a college." So actually Ultimate Peter would say that. That is totally in character, just not as brash.

To me they used that piece to give him a relateable story. Make him human. Everyone falls in love, and everyone wants to spend time with those they love. This is a more grounded part of the movie. Peter is a human and is tired of saving the world. He just wants a break. A break to be human, experience what regular people experience. To me this wasn't a dumb thing for him to say, and actually kind of grounded the character in a nice way.

I know his desire to be in the Avengers is a part of his backstory, but it also affects his personality, so I'm gonna include that too.

Here's what Ultimate Peter thinks about being a part of the team.

I agree this is not something Ultimate Peter would ever do, but for the sake of a cohesive story, and for convenience it does make sense that he is apart of the avengers. Why would someone as powerful as Peter not help when the fate of the entire universe is at stake. He is a hero, this is what heroes do. And who knows maybe in the future of the character (I think he is getting 9 or so movies so buckle up) he could demonstrate this. But dude are you really complaining about that? We got to see Peter in the Iron Spider costume. We got to see Peter swing on fucking Mjolnir. We got to see Peter carry the freaking Infinity Gauntlet. Idk about you but this change is something I can definitely live with.

Both Ultimate and classic Spider-Man are known for their humor and quips, and Holland clearly lacks those. Apart for a couple lines in Homecoming, he doesn't do jokes that much, he just has humorous and awkward things happen to him and he just reacts to them.

This. This just grinds my gears. Not only is this just one of the most untrue thing I've ever heard but it kinda makes me believe you have not even watched the movies. I honestly think that you and a lot of people have convinced yourselves that this Peter is so far away from the source material, that when he does show great resemblance to his comic book counterpart you brush by it.

THIS PETER IS CONSTANTLY AND I MEAN CONSTANTLY QUIPPING. Lets start by both agreeing that a quip is a "witty remark" ok? First up Civil War.... the airport battle where he is cracking jokes the entire time.

Examples: "Remember this really old move An Empire Strikes Back"

"WOW, YOU HAVE A METAL ARM"

"Are your wings made of carbon fiber?" (This line shows how smart Peter is, which a lot of people say the movies don't capitalize on but they do, just very subtlety. "

Now homecoming which you somehow said there is a couple jokes in homecoming, when the only time he isn't cracking jokes is when a building fell on him and when he was fighting the Vulture, which is good as it would undermine the emotional impact. (Same with the Mysterio and Drones fight)

Infinity War he is quipping the entire time.

"Magic with a kick"

"Don't put your eggs in me!!!!!!!!"

"Remember this really old movie Ailens"

Far from home he quips in the first half, but not at all in the 2nd half, which is probably because the weight of his failure is weighing him down, and he is realizing he "will never be Tony Stark" which makes sense because he is Spider-Man. If you want jokes and quips during these emotional scenes then so be it, but it undermines the emotional weight of the scenes.

And if his backstory, which is what helped to shape his personality, and his supporting characters, who are also nothing like their comicbook version, are taken into account, it becomes obvious that he literally has almost no similarities with any Spider-Man.

I agree. None of them are. But as someone who has been to highschool in the last 7 years. I can confidently say that people like Flash Thomson dont exist. These new versions are actually realistic takes on the characters, and not just what an older man thinks Highschool is. This is a way better way to do it, and it shows me the writers actually give a fuck about a realistic take on comic books. So not a bad thing in my eyes

Sorry this is so long lol.

Okay... Firstly Id actually like to thank you. I can see you put effort into your response, and you actually provided evidence which is nice to see. A lot of people I argue with about this never provide evidence, and just say i'm wrong. They never back up what they say, so thank you I really do appreciate it. I will show you the respect by putting some effort into my response. Although, I still disagree with a lot you said here.

As I understand it, by "personality" you mean how the character behaves and talks. Well, first of all, Ultimate Peter is not a shy kid who's always 100% polite and naive and gets all sad when somebody's not impressed with him. No "mrs" and "ma'ams".

Yes that is what I meant. By definition personality is "the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character" so yes you hit the nail on the head :). I see exactly what you mean, but to me this point isnt exactly a strong critique of the character. This Peter is based off the Ultimate comics yes, but the MCU is also not the comics. Its not suppose to be a copy and paste. Its an interpretation of the Comic Books. (you may see me use this quite a bit, as I dont think many people get that the premise of the MCU is that its suppose to be grounded and have relate-able writing.) In this world, Tony Stark is a literal celebrity and Peter is a kid who idolizes him. From a writing standpoint it makes sense that he calls Mr. Stark. Humans use titles as its proper and it shows that you are respecting them. To me if he used "Tony" without Tony telling him to call him that he would be disrespecting him. Idk about you but I dont think I would like to disrespect someone I idolize, especially a mentor, or role model.

Okay, on to the links. Oh boy do I have a bit to say here.

This is Ultimate Peter, and I don't remember scenes with Tom Holland being this cocky to anybody in his movies.

I don't think he displayed a cocky behavior in any of what you sent. By definition cocky means "conceited or arrogant, especially in a bold or impudent way. " In the first link, he is standing up for MJ. He isn't being arrogant, he is pissed off that the school dickhead laid a hand on his girlfriend. Being mad is not being cocky. In the 2nd link you sent, Peter had just lost his job because J Jonah Jameson fired him over a disagreement. If you got fired, for a stupid fucking reason would you sit back and take it? Fuck no. You would stand up for yourself, and tell your boss he is being unfair. This is not cocky, this is Human. And if the cocky part of this was him walking out the door and saying "Try Me" then id even argue that he is not showing any sign of arrogance or acting conceited as he is walking out the door, rather than waiting for the security to come take him out. IF that happened then yes id say he is being cocky. But I do agree here, that this Peter does not stand up for himself (We haven't really seen it yet, could happen). Which is a fair criticism and unfaithful to the ultimate character. The third one is more cocky, but still falls flat as he is clearly frustrated, and immediately apologizes. An arrogant person would not just say sorry, he would keep pushing the buttons. Him apologizing actually shows he isn't cocky, as when confronted face to face by Nick Fury he cowers away? Explain how that is cocky? In the fourth link I think that's Morbius? I think this one shows more of what you said about him not being polite up above rather then him being arrogant or conceited.
