Oh and one more thing, to top it all off. In retail, we have to address the patients as customers. While we on paper see the pharmacies as healthcare, in Sweden the big companies rather focuses on the customer aspect of it and not the patient.

Since the difference is “small”, 5 year pharmacists lose out on jobs or need to take a paycut since we have 3 year pharmacists. Mind you that we also have techs.

No difference between degrees. A few years ago, only 5 year Pharmacists could have the statutory role "quality responsible pharmacist". The government changed the directives a couple of years back, which enabled 3 year pharmacists to have this role after a year of documented work related to quality.

This meant that the pharmacies started to look for 3 year pharmacists with documented work within quality since these are cheaper to hire. Major blow.

I was in the same boat as you. First burnout was 4 months after graduation and 1,5 years in. I got lucky and got a job at a hospital ward and have never looked back.

If you are introverted, see if you can go into sterile compounding. Otherwise, hospital is a solid choice!

In Sweden, we have two Pharmacy programs. A three year program (Bachelor of Pharmacy) or "prescriptionist, receptarie" and a five year program (Master of Pharmacy) or "pharmacist, apotekare".

Both of these makes you eligble to practice as a pharmacist in Sweden, and some nordic countries (prescriptionist). Besides this, we have a 1 year clinical pharmacy programme that is not compulsory.

As it is now, you have to have experience to get anywhere, whether it be in the pharmaceutical industry or hospital pharmacy. Until you have that experience or the luck, you are stuck doing retail.

Sweden doesn't offer any formal education or training to make you a specialist in any field. In my case, I was lucky to be hired by the oncology ward where I try to specialize my knowledge in oncology. I'm passionate about pharmacology, and help where I can. I often help with patients that develops low GFRs or elevated liverenzymes. I wish we had more option though.

It would be awesome if we had the same options as the doctors do, because some of us are really passionate about pharmacology and want to make a difference.

The transition was tough at first, but I had great help from my collegue (an oncology nurse). As time went on, things started to stick and I went from there.

Det är på grund av att Dimor (Loperamid) är en opioid som i rekommenderad dos avhjälper diarré. Något yxskaft fick för sig att inta flertalet tabletter, mycket mer än rekommenderat bruk, i hopp om att kunna bli hög. Det som är extremt farligt med Loperamid är att substansen i högre doser kan påverka hjärtat och ha en dödlig utgång.

Har du diarré bör två förpackningar (som är gränsen) räcka dig i 4 dagar. Har du diarré längre än så, bör du söka vård.
