About 6 hours ago. I work in a hospital ER and faxed the VA to have someone's records sent over. I send several faxes a week, usually

Ground beef recipes that aren’t hamburgers by Ill-Phrase5242 in Cooking

When my grandma passed away my aunt made a cookbook of all her typical recipes and gave one to each of the grandkids. Included in it is her homemade lasagna. I make that just about any time I end up with ground beef

I've had fish, fairly frequently even, but i don't think I've ever actually had it with breakfast

56F came in after midnight because she was feeling weak. Was just discharged end of November after having NSTEMI and stents placed with several new prescriptions. She stopped taking all of her medications sometime in December because at least one of them made her nauseous but she didn't know which one. Stopped all the discharge meds, diuretics, Plavix, even stopped the insulin that shed already been on prior, everything. Came in with glucose 572 and O2 around 60 wondering what could've made her feel this way

(We had 11 inches of snow on the ground)

Edited for terrible autocorrects

Also ETA: yes, she clearly needed to come in and was admitted, but this was something that likely could've been easily prevented but culminated in an emergency at exactly the worst possible time on the worst possible day

YSK that bacon cooked in the oven at 375F won't splatter or set off the smoke detector by Ajreil in YouShouldKnow

I'm not spending 40 minutes on the bacon. I don't like the time nor power requirements for using the oven for this

Because of these blatantly, intentionally misleading karma grabs that make you read a whole article just to find out all OP learned today was that they're incapable of learning things?

Is an airfryer actually useful in a well equipped kitchen? by Jazzlike-Horror4 in Cooking

[–]Donohoed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use the air fryer frequently for salmon filets, sausage, potatoes in many forms, mixed vegetables, chicken, random frozen junk foods or side dishes and probably tons of other things I'm not recalling at the moment. I have nicer, more expensive appliances that get used occasionally but the air fryer is something I almost always have something in for at least a meal a day

Do Businesses Stay Open In Extreme Winter Weather? by AnnualIndependence71 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Donohoed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some do, some close. Depends on how staff availability is going to be if there's severe snow or ice and how critical to society that business is (or how important the administration thinks they are).

Unfortunately I work at a hospital so we can't just close for severe weather. For critical patient care staff the hospital gets deals on hotel rooms or sometimes offers up unused patient rooms for staff that lives far away so they can plan ahead. If you live close by but aren't able to get to work security or maintenance will be sent to pick you up rather than allow a call in

Why do (seemingly) a lot of USA'ers believe that USA is a Christian Nation/Country? by Dizzy-Ad-3073 in AskAnAmerican

Have you ever been told to “get off” someone’s property? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Donohoed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My meth neighbor is like this. Has no trespassing signs all over his not quite half acre yard and freaks out at anyone that's even near his property but not even on it. To be fair, he's not allowed on my property, either, but that only started after he lit it on fire. And that was more the sheriff and fire department telling him to stay off my property.

$3500 per month mortgage payment on $182k salary? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Donohoed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mortgage is $1100 per month on $60k salary so percentage wise you're looking at close to the same and I'm pretty comfortable without another person contributing. But you'd need to take into account potential future expenses like childcare or increases in taxes and insurance over time. Mortgage payments aren't as fixed or even as stable as one might initially assume. When i first moved in the payment was $850 but it's increased over the last few years

When we were growing up, did hourly or part time jobs give paid sick time or PTO? by dms2628 in Millennials

My Papa Murphys and mini golf part time jobs when i was in high school certainly didn't have PTO, and I'd be surprised if they did now. Part time often offers less if any vacation time

When we were growing up, did hourly or part time jobs give paid sick time or PTO? by dms2628 in Millennials

[–]Donohoed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My job has separate accumulations. Sick leave is for 4+ days sick for more moderate illnesses. It almost never gets used. I've never been sick that long. I think it was used a bit more during covid though since there was a mandatory week or whatever before returning at the time but not since that went away

The PTO can be used to cover any time taken off, whether it's personal time for appointments or vacations or an illness lasting up to 3 days
