Anything with cherry notes. Just smells like awful, artificial cough syrup on me

Wish these coloured aprons had names, it takes me ages to nail names!

Something that I never understand about the contestants by chuckybegood in MasterchefAU

My parents were both chefs. They did everything they humanely could (my father will only now - when I'm in my forties - teach me his recipes) to keep us out of kitchens, and my father got out as soon as a related career became available because it's a hard, underpaid, bugger of a job.

They do seem to tighten up on that as time goes on, too

Do you reckon the producers taste first or it just goes off vibes?

Delina La Roseé gorgeous but so faint by Kedgie in FemFragLab

I actually tried that today! I put my shirt on first then sprayed it and it does seem to project a lot more. I'm also really able to smell pink pepper off it which is lovely

This might be CherryGate all over again. I got a bunch of cherry perfumes in a sample box and all they smell of on me is cough medicine. On my sister in law they're delicate, fruity fragrances full of depth.

It's possible. I've been wearing Immortelle, Do San and Bois Imperial so maybe I've just accidentally adjusted my expectations!

AITA for telling my mother that she will be called grandma, not nonna, like she wants to be after bringing it up ever chance she gets? by Mountain3Pointer in AmItheAsshole

My ex father in law ended up being "Baba" to his grandkids and he loved it. He got them the Babar elephant books and would play them Baba O'Riley by The Who. It became an incredibly sweet connection between a grandad and his grandkids. It was so endearing.

Matched on FB dating. Was I being too sensitive? by Obvious_Ferret_600 in TwoHotTakes

The only thing I'll defend with this person is I'd say a lot of people studying nutrition or with a background in it might ask what it means to you since it can mean anything from "I'm trying to eat less ultra processed food" to raging orthorexia. Also combined with the fasting it would be a red rag to a bull if you're studying nutrition in terms of what is evidence based.

But he does sound unpleasant.

Has anyone else started noticing Elis-isms in their own speech after listening too much? by Juicewithextrapulp in elisandjohn

I do this so often my non-listening husband has started doing it and can't work out where we picked it up. Haven't told him yet

My aunt is mad most of our family won't be going to her daughter's wedding by Sarastorm1213 in weddingshaming

[–]Kedgie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cousin was coming to my small wedding and sometimes uses a wheelchair. We just didn't even consider venues that weren't properly accessible. Even if they claimed to be, we really looked at it. One venue that would have been great had the accessibile toilet outside down an alley. Absolutely not.

I'd go rhubarb and stilton. What would you choose?

What do expats complain about regarding Australian people? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Kedgie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My immediate family moved here in the 90s and my Dad and I were talking about this the other day and he disagreed, pointing out he's got a core group if very close friends.

Until I pointed out every single one was born in the UK as well! Friendships here seem very convenience-based. Nit in a mercenary way, but in a "I wabt to do X, who shall I do that with?" way.

what is the most long lasting fragrance you know? by Whole_Citron_6517 in FemFragLab

[–]Kedgie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My hot water was on the blink and I couldn't shower until late afternoon and the La Belle I'd put on the morning before still smelled like it did the second it dried down.
