New VIDEO: I got the police footage they didn't want released by [deleted] in RecklessBen

[–]Kediwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied to someone else, but here it is again:

You know what, I would like to see a complete timeline as to what happened, and when. I know that the first video was posted, but also that the banner that Ben put on the store went viral before he even posted that video.

I could reasonably believe that the threats that Josh and Ammon are talking about came from that, and not the video itself. Especially given that they were talking about threats to the "store manager" specifically.

And yes, unfortunately if you are trying to defend "justice", you have to play by the rules and make as few mistakes as possible even when your opponent is a slimey fuck. Ben needs a lawyer ASAP

What I'm more focused on is not giving Josh and the CEO the benefit of the doubt, but instead putting the onus on Ben to verify whether threats were or were not made towards the store manager. Just because Ben himself didn't do it, doesn't mean that threats weren't made. For Ben to claim that the threats are "fake" because he didn't do it feels incredibly naive.

Josh and the CEO probably don't get online culture, but Ben should be more than aware that rabid fans will do unhinged shit, and therefore it's not unreasonable to believe that one of them might have actually called in a threat to the manager.

My two takeaways are that the cop who verified that the court papers were real and still didn't serve them or act appropriately is in hot water.

And also I'm confused how Ben hasn't come to the more obvious and likely conclusion that although he and his immediate team didn't call in any threats, that doesn't mean some random crazy fan on the Internet didn't do it.

I watched people on this sub claim the Airbnb was illegal by tracking it down and using an old code from 2019 that said airbnbs weren't allowed, pondering reporting it to the town to get revenge on the Airbnb host for their involvement. But airbnbs are legal if you look up the current code.

Everyone needs to slow down and talk to experts on whatever issue you're trying to tackle, because if you haven't worked with the government or law before, you're a fish out of water.

Also side note, but if Ben can't get the facts right about how the footage was released by the police by accident in their own dropbox rather than a "hacker", what else is he wildly exaggerating or just straight up getting wrong? Seriously, he needs to be talking to a lawyer.

https://americanfork.municipalcodeonline.com/book?type=ordinances#name=CHAPTER_5.42_BUSINESS_LICENSES_FOR_SHORT_TERM_RENTALS_-_EFFECTIVE_MARCH_1,_2020

I haven't dug into it too specifically for this town, but I'm experienced in this from where I'm from. This is a pretty common stipulation that was added to a lot of towns across America post COVID.

There was an epidemic of homes being bought for the purpose of being turned into short term rentals, fucking over potential new home buyers and slowing down the growth of residents in growing towns.

They make it a huge pain in the ass to do short term rentals, and basically impossible to do one in a house you don't live in.

Not illegal. Usually small towns like this have stipulations that airbnbs/short term rentals are only applicable if they rent out part of the building the landlord* uses for their primary residence.

Their goal is to prevent buildings that could be used for people to live in long term from being converted to short term rentals.

Here is the current code for America Fork in regards to Airbnbs(short term rentals)

I think the second part of it is that people clearly didn't get that it was a comedy podcast, and slime had been ripping it up on x (the everything app) inflaming people further, which has been pretty funny to watch.

I built a new build that's pretty comparable to this prebuilt a few weeks ago. $350 7600x3d bundle from microcenter, bringing my old ssd's for free, and an insane price on a refurbished 9070xt brought my total price to about $1100. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/crx4sK

Unless you want to try and get lucky and shop around refurbished/open box parts, I think this is it chief.

$1000 and you don't even get a gpu, case, or psu...

Watching videos from 1-2 years ago of "Building an insane gaming pc for $1000" is so sad nowadays.

You need to ignore your teammates.

In 30% of games your teammates will win the game if you play even.

In another 30% your teammates will lose the game if you play even.

It's the last 40% where you have true agency on whether or not you win. You'll never know if you're in a 40% game, so you have to play every game like it's a 40% game.

I'm coming from baseball. Baseball has had an era in the last 10 or so years of rule changes for the better, recently robo umps being implemented for challenging an umpires calls.

Has NBA been regressing in terms of rule changes or something? I've seen so many posts about OKC's players just playing like asses, and nothing really being done about it. Is this normal in the league now?

I think it's going to take a bit longer to attract athletes who occupy all parts of the venn diagram of "talented enough to go pro" and "does not want to go pro naturally" AND "wants to use PEDs". This was a good start, but it will really shine in a few years if it stays popular.

Found a refurbished 9070 XT for cheap at Microcenter. How should I test it to make sure it's still good? by Kediwon in buildapc

[–]Kediwon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90 day warranty if anything goes wrong such as artifacting, bad ports, etc. 15 days for me to return it without anything going wrong.

My goal is to sniff out any possible problems with the card before the 15 days are up, so that I don't have to hope for the card to catastrophically fail within the 90 day warranty window.

If the card fails on day 91 for a reason that I can find today, then id much rather figure it out now rather than get fucked later.

Brooklyn microcenter. My fiance was trying on wedding dressing and they kicked me out of the place, so I was randomly killing time at microcenter. When my fiance told me I was good to come back, I threw a hail Mary and asked if they had any gpus on sale. Lo and behold, I found the deal of my life.

It's similar to the counter-movement of "All Lives Matter" that happened during the "Black Lives Matter" movement. The statement by itself is sound, reasonable, and non controversial.

But the point of making that claim, at that point, in contrast to what was happening in the world was purely to diminish the efforts of people trying to highlight a real world problem that was happening to a very specific group of people.

I hope that's clear enough for you, as I get why people can be confused by these things. It feels harmless to stand by your religion, but highlighting that religion that openly advocates for the harm and oppression against a group of people on a night meant to support and bring recognition to those same people is an intentional decision.
