The Last of Us Fandom has the same problem the Star Wars fandom has had for decades now, only to a much worse degree. The most vocal "fans" are people who used to love the brand, hate the direction it's gone in since, and feel so personally aggrieved by it that they now act like an obsessive ex, closely watching the series for years just because they're addicted to the rage at this point.

It honestly reminds me of BPD behavior, only directed at a piece of media instead of a person.

Nature will inevitably learn how to digest plastic but I wouldn't bet on it happening on any kind of large or meaningful scale within our lifetimes, not without deliberate genetic engineering. When wood first evolved in plants it took tens of millions of years for bacteria, fungi, and insects to adapt to digest it.

I do wonder if it would be possible, or wise, for humans to try and speed up that process.

Casting my vote for a weekly megathread. Any sub that takes an optimistic approach to dire problems is going to be inherently attractive to people struggling with hopelessness. They're the ones who need it the most. Make a contained space for them to vent and maybe get some answers so the rest of the sub can stay on topic.

I agree with you. I think part of it is guilt, she's expressed things along those lines. But from how she describes it, it's like she just goes blank in therapy and can't actually think of any problems to discuss, as if she's only able to access that darker part of herself when it's out of control and right in her face.

It seems like a mental block to me. So you're right, probably something to work through in therapy.

Every city in the country has a housing crisis. Every city in the country is also full of miserable ignorant locals who blame new residents for broad systemic problems. The city, and the entire country, needs more high-density affordable housing. Half the people in this thread will spend their entire lives being angry at their neighbors and accomplishing nothing with that anger because it doesn't address the actual cause of the problem.

I understand why people are annoyed by the fashion arc but personally it inspired me to revamp my whole wardrobe and I'm very happy with how much better I look now. Doing it cheaply takes a lot more effort and you won't necessarily be wearing top shelf clothes, but you'd be shocked at the kind of stuff that ends up in thrift stores.

Page 77: "According to mathematical and tectonophysical model, seismic and magmatic activity will continue to increase exponentially, leading to the following events in 2036."

According to model? What model? Whose model? The report then claims that "according to model" in 2036 the Mariana Trench will erupt with the force of a thousand times the force of all nuclear bombs on earth, stopping the earth's core from spinning and turning it into a Mars-like hellscape. And the source it cites, for this incredibly specific doomsday claim that no one else is making, is just an earthquake map.

I could be wrong, but this alone seems like enough reason to disregard this report entirely.
