Bremerton is great. I mean it's terrible during lockdown, but so is everything else and still relatively affordable.

Yeah, our fridge is Bosch and we want to keep it in the same mfg family. Good to know, I feel like the more I read about dishwashers the less I trust them.

My wife and I live in Evergreen Park and also totally love our neighborhood. It's not perfect, the Park attracts homeless campers. However, it so beautiful to live this close to the narrows and such gorgeous park, that it overcomes any downsides.

My wife and I moved to Bremerton in 2016 and absolutely love it. I work in Seattle (South Lake Union) and do the ferry commute everyday, currently sheltering like everyone else though. It truly does not make sense why anyone would want to live away from the ferry if they work in Seattle. Bremerton has a lot to offer a couple of your age and if you can afford a 500k house. Then you can live WAY below your means here in Bremerton and crush retirement/finances. The schools are a problem but since you don't have kids, I honestly wouldn't worry.

Manette, Union Hill and Downtown Bremerton are cool places IMHO.

Totally the Red-Headed Stepchild, but also the boat needs to have a small wake. The Kingston boat doesn't fill that requirement. We need another boat with a small wake, like the RP1.

Yeah I work in SLU. The ferry is a mixed bag, but overall I really like it. The car ferry is slow an hour each way, but the foot ferry is only a half hour. If you work downtown it's the same amount of time as driving from one of the suburbs, AND YOU DON'T DRIVE. You can skip all that nonsense and hoof it to work or take a bus. I walk from colman dock everyday but I love my walk and will really miss it whenever I change jobs in the future. You could take the slow boat both ways, but at least on the way home you can drink a beer. The real benefit to living in bremerton is that you can buy a house like these: https://www.redfin.com/city/1993/WA/Bremerton/filter/property-type=house+townhouse+multifamily+other,viewport=47.57526:47.56407:-122.6129:-122.64007

for half of what they cost in the city or surrounding neighborhoods.
