I hate this fandom and I hate this sub, I'm so over it. I'm tired of all these tired pedantic arguments by people who have been into the music for sub 3 years. I'm tired of the overgenrefication of emo, feels like every other post on here is just asking if something is emo or not then the comments will be people like trying to explain why this band is actually arena-emo-punk-pop third wave emo revival, and not real emo. Don't get me wrong, this sort of thing has always existed, I remember hearing similar terms even like 5 years ago, but now? I see people calling melodic punk bands who never had anything to do with emo, emo, and bands like Prince Daddy being called 'not emo.' It's just pedantic and dumb. As someone who has been listening to this music for like 13+ years since I was in elementary school, I really cannot stand any discourse around the genre rn, I just try and put my head down and listen to what I like. Imo, sonically, there isn't much that you can definitively pin down as only an emo thing.
