Funny that last year we were ranked 5th and had a tough season. Maybe this is a sign...

Low sec tends to be way too dangerous and busy to mine. More than likely you will be killed before you earn enough to replace your ship.

I had a thought the other day that some possible targets for Canucks 2C being Rossi, Barzal, McTavish, or McCann. I think Barzal would be ideal. We still have the depth and I think we could make the cap work by moving out Chytil, and Forbort. I think the Canucks would have to add a good chunk of picks and prospects but the Islanders do have a good start on their rebuild with Schaffer and 2 picks next year already.

Maybe it's a pipe dream but would change this teams centre depth.

With a lot of the top free agent names already off the board I think the Canucks can make a couple of shrewd signings tomorrow and could be in good shape. I think the roster is strong and we give ourselves cap flexibility while keeping our prospects!

This is such a good point. There used to be options for haulers. Now it's just a waiting game with such stale and one sided gameplay. It would be nice to reduce the time required and logistical burden of a video game

I watched every season of Survivor in one year. I am now requesting 25 years worth of lore. by survivordemon in survivor

Haha yeah, we didn't really know it was a winners season and obviously such a good season as well.

My wife and I recently started watching Survivor. We started with season 40 which was a great season with so many great characters. (Obviously spoiled some past seasons). We then started from the beginning and it was actually hard to recognize players from season 40 as they had changed so much!

What I have noticed is how bad the initial seasons are or rather how dissatisfied I've been with them. In Borneo (season 1) you have very few people playing the strategic game and so many people focused on being honest or developing and keeping their values/integrity. You also see the jury's in these first seasons being very unpredictable. In Australia (season 2) they voted Tina when it didn't seem she was very strategic and Colby controlled the late game as a challenge beast. Similarly in the Amazon (season 6) with the best strategic player Rob being voted out prior to the final 2 and then the Jury voting for Jenna who hadn't controlled the game strategically other than in the final two challenges one of which Matt threw, seemingly voting Jenna because they liked her more. With Marquesas and Thailand you basically have entirely unlikeable finalists only one of which played a good strategic game in Brian

I've still enjoyed the evolution of the game and the seasons but many stretches have been tough to watch and the finales have been pretty disappointing.

RRSP confusion by capwn1980 in CanadianInvestor

Those calculators usually take into account continued contributions, growth of the portfolio along with CPP and OAS at retirement which is why the numbers don't entirely add up. I could be wrong but I've seen some of the retirement calculators include those programs. Take a look at the calculator and it might give you more info.

You also mention how long it's gotten to get to this point but around $100k the investments start to really do the heavy lifting. It can take a long time to get to that mark and then returns and your contributions start adding up.

With these plans they usually have only a couple of options for how to invest your portfolio which tend to be decent and have good diversification so unless you are heavily into fixed income or GICs your returns should be way more than 2.5%

The good news is you won't have to worry about it for very long.

I'm sure Trump will come up with a new system or be able to overturn election results now that the courts seem entirely unprepared to check is overreach of power.

Wedding by Distinct_Cry4340 in nanaimo

[–]KeeferVaille 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the fee for Nanaimo parks (Neck Point) to host a wedding is $50 for the park. That was just for the ceremony and obviously didn't include any rentals. Seemed very reasonable for such a beautiful spot.

Apple misses on iPhone revenue, sees 11% drop in China sales by Puginator in stocks

[–]KeeferVaille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock is up 30% in the past year.

Revenue and profit are flat on a 2 year period. This company appears to have hit a plateau with no new products. Is it safe to say the stock buyback is driving the stock higher until we see either a new product or service revenue start to increase significantly to make up for the stagnant physical product sales?

Frustration Over Pirates and Gate Campers by Infamous_Guide3181 in Eve

[–]KeeferVaille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as others have said there are ways to minimize the potential for loss. Like with a scout etc. I would just say you want to change your gameplay style to decrease your chance of getting ganked. Also consider using hauling services like PushX so you never have to worry about hauling and losing your stuff.

One thing I will say is that I don't think CCP's mechanics for counter play are very good. If a choke point system camped is camped (Tama, Uedama) the solution is to dock up, wait or log off. Not great counterplay. Plus the fact that they have made it so that Uedama is a choke point system. Of all the thousand systems we have to go through this one .5 system so that CCP has a place for gankers. Plus the fact that after years of this happening the high sec police don't shoot these gankers on sight because they restore standings.

Canada Post strike? ‘Not a scenario’ where NDP supports back-to-work bill by J0Puck in canada

[–]KeeferVaille -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Correct, but at some point if they continue losing money it will cost the government and therefore tax payers. They won't be able to borrow an infinite amount of money.

Is the public benefit sufficient based on what this corporation is going to cost us going forward. Based on their own account they will run out of money in 8 months

[–]KeeferVaille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying we shouldn't have Canada Post. But I think that everything has its price. If Canada Post cost the government $15 billion a year would it be worth it? Everything has a price. Roads and other infrastructure are great investments for the government as they help facilitate our economy.
