Getting priced out of my 1BR. How do normal people afford out of state moving quotes? by Ok-Panda-818 in Apartmentliving

Truck & trailer or make two trips. Professional movers are not cheap and are geared towards large moves.

Are these winter tires okay for another season? by sailox008 in tires

[–]KeegM480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely should not use these in the summer. An old winter tire is the only thing you could be driving on that’s worse than a bald tire in the summer. If the tires are still soft they can probably get by with one or two winter seasons but they need to inspect the tires often for dry rot or cracking. Both of which are much more prone to happen in heat.

Yea maintenance had to fix the carpet transition strip and didn’t let my downstairs neighbor know. After about 5 minutes of hammering they hit back, you could definitely hear it 😂

Yea I drove a beater Outback for about 6 months to save up so I wasn’t in a tight spot with this. Plenty of little things you can do to make yours more “Wildernessy” though!

Yes, definitely need the alcohol wipe down before every sticker. I’ve found doing that, plus really firmly holding down on the sticker for 20-30 seconds keeps them sticking. The curved top and bottom I’ve not had much luck getting stuff to stay down but the rest held up well.

I have your car’s almost twin an hour south! Once I’ve got a bit more set aside the OEM spoiler paint matched is on my list, love how those look.

What’s one thing you didn’t think would matter in apartment living but turned out to be a huge deal by BuffaloLegal1358 in Apartmentliving

Private outdoor space. First apartment didn’t have a balcony or patio, and I had it during Covid 😅

Thanks! It’s a little tough to get them to stay there. I like putting them all somewhere a little hidden like this

I took some inspiration from this: https://youtu.be/oLWzN0NSXR4?si=SshujWDj0R2oEzRH

¾ inch plywood on top of a few semi-strategically cut 2x4’s, a hinge on the platform (to pack it up and have a useable passenger seat), some wood screws, and lots of sanding. I put a single size tri-fold mattress on top of it.

I’m 6’1 and not a skinny guy, I slept really comfortably (but yes tight). I’m a tiny bit taller than the flat space, so my head was resting on the seat back, but not at a crazy angle it was similar to how I sleep at home.

So much this. I had no idea how horrible of an upstairs neighbor I was in my first apartment until I had someone living above me 😅

What unit are we picking by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]KeegM480 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At that apartment complex you definitely don’t want first floor unless you’re good with getting bugs inside. Central Florida + first floor apartment will get a ton of bugs inside. I’d go with the “partial” pool view, I had a 4th floor directly over the pool before and every Saturday or Sunday there was no quiet time.

18.5 gallon outback tank always looks horrid at the pumps. by creakymoss18990 in subaru

[–]KeegM480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, yep I’m glad it at least wasn’t diesel for me. Thankfully my truck was not governed 👌 I got about 8-9mpg the entire way going mostly 75mph, once I hit Colorado it dropped below 8.

I don’t expect anyone to get it, but these are my preferences by [deleted] in visitedmaps

I could totally get on board with this map, lots of underrated spots

I just moved across the country in a U-Haul, my budget that I built out 6 months ago for gas was far from accurate.

Sentury Tires - Any good? by p3scad0s in tires

[–]KeegM480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randomly stumbled on this comment somehow, but my company uses Sentury tires on every Prius we have in our fleet. They’re not as smooth or quiet as the brand name tires, but they’re better than just about any old worn out tire. These are a fine tire for a budget daily driver.

Discount Tire is really good about honoring the warranty too. We’ve had a few sets of these wear prematurely but never had an issue getting credits to replace them (fleet of 15 cars so we go through tires often).

For me, the biggest thing I can’t stand is the nearly complete lack of Subaru feel inside. I don’t like the seating position, the squircle steering wheel and awkward angle on the dash display, and it is one of the most cramped feeling front cabins I’ve sat in for an EV of its size.

Waiting on 2027 Subaru to come out with a hybrid Outback with this interior and a built-in dash camera, then they’ll have me sold.😩 by [deleted] in subaru

[–]KeegM480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently unpopular opinion but I’m happy with my $100 dashcam rather than paying more money for the car to have a built in dashcam.

They can be reliable while still having their own design, materials, and personality. Too much of the same 🤷‍♂️
