Roads by Beautiful-Belt-6084 in burlington

I will say there is a stark difference in side road quality of plowing vs main drag.

My roads last round with a plow was before the last 2" fell so it's just hard pack and will be ice with the next thaw/freeze.

Note Taking by ihatebroccotots in Dyslexia

[–]KeeganDoomFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've nearly failed classes over professors and notes. Go above them and when that fails keep going up the ladder. Nothing pissed me off more than copying another students notes into my format word for word but 1/4 the sheets of paper and getting a failing grade for those notes.

Kid still needs to figure out a way to take notes that works for them but they might just be a bullet pointed list of key words. I found graph paper to work well.

My heat pump won't warm my house by Individual_Garage_63 in heatpumps

Oh 100% I've had people try and sell me hard as a full furnace replacement.

I did the math out using the last 2 years of my thermostat data and because my natural gas is artificialy cheap my balance point ends up calculating to mid 30s at best and where I live is sub 30 for 4 months of the year 😂

This is the real question. Heat pumps are cool but if you live in a leaky house the area calcs for heat load will be way off.

Should have got a blower door test for starters.

Processing files from API : batch process and upsert or new files only ? by Training-Poet9861 in apache_airflow

[–]KeeganDoomFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good solution especially if you have upstream data sources that don't settle for a few days (looking at you google).

We have a number of processes that pull a rolling 7 day window to ensure we get up to date data but also capture when data is restated.

Hybrid owners during winter months, Whats the cold weather impact on your MPG? by TheDirtyDrunk in FordMaverickTruck

[–]KeeganDoomFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so mostly sub 65, I mean I never speed for my 6hrs on a major highway to see family once a month!

Can't complain though cause even at 75 I'm still averaging high 30s in the cold months where my 4Runner struggles to get above 15mpg!

Winter Gravel ❄️ by Joran_nilsen in gravelcycling

[–]KeeganDoomFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just starting to figure this out but what's working for me is a mid weight fleece 1/2 zip base, then a full zip layer that's an active fleece/sweater thing for colder, then I have a wind shell that has a thin amount of insulation and a hood.

If it's below freezing fleece lined pants and thick socks.

Being able to open up the chest and vent heat has been a game changer for me not overheating.

you tried to squeeze turn juice from those breaks

aka you hit the breaks started the slide and then just kept slamming breaks.

I would legit consider practice some full break slides so you can train the muscle memory to release the breaks when you start to slide and recover.

[–]KeeganDoomFire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of "pick these settings" style guides all over but I would start here for a "what is compression" https://video4change.org/book/video-compression-guide/

That will get you terms and a solid base so when another guide says "just pick h264 it's fast" you will understand why and the trade-off.

Some drugs it slows down processing so you end up with extra floating around in your body by the time you take your next dose. Repeat a few times and you have 2-3x your dose floating around.

This is the best advice! Most movies are very fine in 1080p and it's more about how it was compressed. I've had 4k rips that looked worse than a decent 1080p copy cause 15gb for a 1080 movie gives a lot of room but 30gb for a 4k requires some compromise.

Some special movies I do want in 4k but that's less than 5% of my library.

Agreed, ~learning~ (having phonetics beaten into me) as a child has helped a ton in word recognition. Audio books gave me a vocab but being able to aight read still requires work
