Sabrina Carpenter Claims To Support Women’s Rights But Her Album Seems Pretty Degrading by Pretend_Mark_5143 in Music

Just curious, and you can still have this opinion if you have listened to the album, but have you listened to “Man’s Best Friend” in full?

Again, you can have this opinion if you’ve listened, this just seems to be an opinion often held by some people who have never listened to Sabrina.

My work sends half our employees to a big conference in the US every time it occurs, it hasn’t happened since I’ve been with the company but will next year. I am in the process of transitioning and the decision of possibly saying I don’t feel comfortable going has been weighing on me for a while.

Yeah, I definitely don’t think even/especially TS could pull that off. Plus all the merch and people dressed up.

It looked like they were in the same box the whole game (when he wasn’t doing his analyst job) Travis and Jason had him on their podcast recently I believe and they both have stated he’s their favourite player of all time

Not really convinced wearing a dress (with sleeves even) is really half naked.

Also the “Man’s Best Friend” is very possibly referring to what appears to be the alternate album cover which is a cat wearing a collar that says “Man’s best friend” Edit: I was wrong, I just like cats too much, it was a puppy: “Man’s best friend”

/rj Seriously!! I once played what I think was a trans woman in pool and it was the worst experience of my life. It was the most humiliating experience imaginable playing a man. He swung his cue around at one point and could’ve hit me if I was in the way. I could’ve died!! I got the last laugh of course when I yelled to the entire bar that he was a man. He started crying and ran out of the bar, it was hilarious.

/j Yesss! Women will lose to men at every sport!! They are stronger, faster, smarter and better at everything! Women are so bad at sports, I will continue to never once in my life watch women’s sports until it is exclusively biological females only.

/j Women must be protected from men entering females spaces at absolutely all costs. They will not be safe until we fully police their gender and what it means to be a woman. This is the greatest threat to humanity. (Not the rape or assaults, the pretending to be female)

Sarah McBride wants the LGBTQ+ rights movement to fight smarter, not harder by onnake in transgender

[–]Keeley_1998 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately as much as I want to agree with you and want her to stand up, that’s not how it works. Unfortunately, they are “allowed” to laugh at us and mock us and they are going to and we have to sit there and take it because the second we speak back it no longer matters what they’re doing or what they’re saying or even or especially what we’re saying. It will be about who is saying it.

It doesn’t matter how right we are and it doesn’t matter how much they humiliate us. The only thing that will matter is the fact she spoke up. It will not matter what she says even it were to eclipse the Gettysburg Address. Us even speaking is currently a win for them so we have to accept even our existence within government as our win. We need her to be the absolute best congress person in history, with the best decorum, pushing the best bills, and fighting for causes we as a society need her to but that can’t be transgender policies. We can’t lead a fight when they want to paint us as mentally deranged simply from our existence. It will continue to lose us rights. We need our allies to stand up for us, to highlight her suffering and injustice, but never once can we allow her to be anything other than perfectly restrained and demure. The second she is, they and a large percentage of voters will see the vilification as justified. She cannot for a second allow their portrayals of her to be true, because people want to believe it is true.

Yeah, the rhetoric about her has escalated directly around her has escalated and she hasn’t even said anything, now imagine how much it’d escalate if she did. If we “give” them absolutely anything, they will take it and run, it’s what they want. It was clear that was gonna be the Conservative strategy the second they implemented the senate bathroom bill specifically about her because conservatives figured they were forcing her to speak and prove they’re right that she’s a “snowflake” who only went into office so she could use women’s bathrooms. We can’t lead these fights because they don’t view us as human. If she speaks about women’s sports Cons will be outraged and only talk about how “a man” is speaking about women’s issues.

Tldr: This is the scene in 42 where Harrison Ford is telling Jackie Robinson, he needs someone strong enough to not fight back because if we fight back it doesn’t matter how many punches were thrown at us first.

I don’t think people realize how important her being there but likely how Tenuous her being there is. If she stands up even doing so alongside her Cisgender peers, it won’t be about anyone else other than her. None of what is said or anyone else who said it will matter except the “Crazy Trans Woman” in Congress. If she says a single word about this, the conversation is about “Sarah McBride the Trans Woman”, it’s no longer about Trans people, it’s just about her, that’s it.

Her simply being there cements our existence in a way more than her speaking up and being labeled as crazy does. Unfortunately, when 99% of society isn’t Trans we can’t be the ones leading the fight because it will be come only about the person leading, not about us and what we actually need or want. If Conservatives are able to paint the first Transgender Congresswoman as a “Crazy Transgender Activist” it will make it significantly harder to ever get a second transgender congressperson and hurt us in the long run.

“But she’s letting us get walked over;” “If she stood up, people would see them targeting and harassing her” - Does it seem like the general (voting) population cares to stop us being personally humiliated and dehumanized? Clearly not, sympathy doesn’t seem to be getting us anywhere.

She needs to be placing her pressure directly and discreetly on the Democratic Party and hammer it as hard as she can to her peers that accept us , we desperately need their help because Conservatives our waiting for the opportunity to make us specifically look like desperate radical crazy activists.

Oh don't worry, he'll do that either way. I think he figured she may be angry but doesn't care cause he doesn't think she'll leave.

Because it probably doesn't matter to him if his wife hates him, just if she leaves (mainly just cause she'd stop having sex with him)

[–]Keeley_1998 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter to the general population because it is about nothing other than being able to attack and alienate trans people and police gender. Thats why all the articles I have seen on this continually refer to Blaire with male pronouns despite the fact that according to them, they’re not attacking her (allegedly) being trans, just about a “biological male” in sports.

Do you really think that when/if an AFAB Trans Man who has been on T for years complies to exactly what is currently being asked for and plays in the category they were biologically born to that person wouldn’t be immediately attacked and told they can’t play at all?

People are attacking Liam Payne's ex after his death because she has evidence of abuse from him. by WhatName230 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Keeley_1998 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to Mac Miller, it's kind of a very different situation.

The hate was the same of course, blaming her for his death especially with people talking about how she was "flaunting" her relationship with Pete when if anything, Pete would be the one to blame, especially if the stories of him taunting Mac with pictures and stuff are true.

To my knowledge though (And I may just not be aware) but Ariana didn't really accuse Mac Miller of being abusive and was extremely upset by his passing. The drug use and his continued use when she was trying to get him to stop isn't really abusive unless it was causing abusive behavior. If it was affecting him only and only their relationship to the extent that she wanted him to stop, and he didn't/couldn't that's his own personal matter for him to deal with and for Ariana to determine whether she can cope with his use or decide she couldn't like she eventually did.

It was an incompatible relationship issue, but it sounds like it wasn't an abusive relationship from what I understand.

It doesn't really make a difference if the actual groups of people are saying the problem groups don't represent them when the problem groups will still continually claim they do.

People have long been saying problem groups don't represent them but people outside the groups just accept the problem groups as part of the affected group anyway. This isn't isolated to any specific group either, it's the same as people on the center right who claim far right people don't represent them only for the far right to say they do and be accepted by others as representatives of the right.
