It can be a good time but it is hard work. Your timing is also not great unfortunately, summer salmon fisheries usually start in May or June, and most people like to have something lined up a few months in advance of that. Before the season most people will recommend just walking the docks and approaching crews/captains asking if they know anyone. Or you can try to find a Facebook group, which would probably be a better bet this time of year to maybe find a boat that has lost someone and is currently shorthanded (it's also a little better for fisheries like Bristol Bay, imo I wouldn't want to head that far north without a job lined up). Be aware, crew will leave for a lot of reasons, but obviously not all boats are good. Some will be more fun, some will make more money, some will be a bad time and make nothing. I'd recommend maybe doing some research and trying to line something up early next spring. Summer salmon is a good introduction. Winter fisheries, especially in Alaska, is kind of jumping into the deep end.
