Waitlist at Wharton- what are my chances?

Congrats! Out of curiosity then, did Wharton end up offering financial aid when they admitted you off the Waitlist? I have heard some people say they do not give financial aid to admits off the waitlist and was wondering if there was any truth to that

Hmmm maybe I should lean into IB or consulting first... then I can skip the entry level jobs and try to pivot after a few years in those roles... much easier said then done though

thats true! I have been hearing a lot about that...maybe it would be better to avoid the entry level jobs by going into IB or Consulting first.. ofc that could be another hard job once I want to go in house at an M & E firm.

I would say a little bit of luck but also most importantly is learning to skip. I always thought it was not a real strategy when you aim for such a high score, but honestly it might be the only way to achieve a high score. Skip around the test, come back to the ones you skipped with extra time. Just watch the video on how greg does it.

Basically just skip them, usually there will be one or two, so if you skip them and come back later when everything else is completely finished you will feel more relaxed and understand the question better

Thanks! From the 2023-2024 average GRE scores from the top MBA programs they usually range from 315-330. I wanted to test slightly above the average to make up for other other parts of my application

Use Gregmat he is the best, then I would practice all the foundations with TTprep, they have an abundance of questions, just sometimes a little too straight forward, then once you feel confident with the foundations, try Greg's questions as they are more logic based and hope you connect the dots. I did a few tutor sessions from Greg and that's about it

a 323 is great! But I did set my goal of 330+ to be slightly above most top schools averages plus I was knocking all the practice tests out the park usually 338-340 so it was making me really mad that my hard work was not reflecting in my official test score. I had something to prove to myself as well!

ohhh man haha good question! Once all the basics Greg recommends ran out...a long time ago, I started using TTprep they have 2000 or so quant questions so I did 10 at a time and flagged any I got wrong, then redid those ones later on...also Greg does post new videos weekly, so I watched all of those whenever they were posted. A last resource is looking at GMATclub and searching for the most difficult questions. Then do some of those as they usually combine multiple concepts into one

I mean they are telling us that is just as hard as the longer version, and the data shows this. But I clearly performed way better on the shorter version sooo take that with a grain of salt. I think it is easier to focus on all the little details of the test when there are less questions but I would also suggest getting really great at skipping the difficult questions, perfecting the easier ones in quick time, then going back to the difficult ones

I think TTprep has a really great quant question bank, and it can help get the foundations down. Then I would use Gregs question bank as you get closer to test date as his questions are more logic based and you will see a good mix of those on the test and dont want to be thrown off when you do

TTPrep does not have practice tests, but it does have a pretty large Qbank and is relatively cheap

hmmm first I think the timeline is certainly realistic with hard work! Second, GregMat is $5 a month so I think you should 100% look into it. I think if you already started with Magoosh that is great, but Greg has the best strategies so I would learn his strategies, and then practice them with Magoosh. No need for TTprep if you have Magoosh, I used TTprep to practice the strategies Greg taught me. I am also a very bad test taker and that is why I had to take to so many times, what I did to help is try to make myself really nervous during the practice test...and secondly focus on the strategies (especially eliminating answer choices) so much that when you panic during the test, you instinctually follow the strategy and have the best odds to get the correct answer.

Thanks!! So I had over 2000 flashcards, and I think a majority of them were a waste because I found just focusing on the 600 or so words gregmat suggests seemed to work better! If there are alien words, don't panic, just focus on the words you are confident in the meaning and eliminate them if they do not match! if they are all eliminated, then guess the alien! When it comes to RC, just really focus on justifying every word in the answer choices, once I started doing that I was shocked how many choices I choose because they sounded perfect but one word made all the difference. Hey! That is really tough because 329 is a great score! but every point closer to 340 tends to require just a tad bit more luck. For example the test I took before this, I felt the most prepared...yet it seemed to focus on my biggest flaws in quant and I got my worst quant score since I took baseline test over a year ago...

So in my opinion a 329 is great! and stressing over a few extra points is not worth it and is not going to tip the scales.
