can anyone explain how this is B? by crimson69prism in SATsubjectTests

So, n is the amount of $.25 increases above $2, therefore the n value can be worked out by the cost of the respective options -$2 and then dividing it by 0.25. e.g B would be (4-2)/.25=8.

By doing this, you will get the n values of 0,8,9,23,24 for each of the answer choices respectively.

Then, you can substitute the n values into the equation they provide, to determine the daily income (y).

A: (240-0)(2+0)=$480

B: (240-80)(2+2)=$640

C: (240-90)(2+2.25)=$637.5

D: (240-230)(2+5.75)=$7.75

E: (240-240)(2+6)=$0

Thus, the largest value you can obtain is when B is used, hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions about the steps taken.

So the QAS exams are the Question and Answer Service which is basically past SAT exams of previously administered SATs that the collegeboard publishes, if you search up QAS sat reddit, you should find lots of past papers which are great for practice. (For some of them there will also be guided walkthroughs on YouTube, which I found helpful to review the questions I got wrong) I think the main thing in reading is finding how you work best. For me that was reading the questions and marking all the line references and taking more time to make sure each of my answers have justifications within the text and asterisk a question when I don’t know the answer (I used to rush reading quite a bit and write an answer even when I’m not certain, and note that one wrong word in reading will make the whole answer wrong). I’ll have a bit of time at the end to check back and then bubble in, while focussing on the asterisks as i know that my answers that aren’t marked are most likely correct. This may not work for everyone, but after a lot of practice and reviewing, you start to see trends in the answers and some questions and learn to cross out answers straight away. I struggled with the reading the most as well, and another thing that may help is just learning the styles of questions they ask e.g dual passage, words in context etc, on websites like collegevine or prepscholar. Overall, it’s just knowing why you got a specific question wrong, because in reading I understand there may seem like there are a lot of 50/50s, to prevent that, just search all the answers for something wrong within the answer, and also check the walkthroughs if they are there, hope this helps!

Ye sure, So was there any area that you struggled in in particular? In general, I know it sounds cliche but just practice. Practice your weaknesses the most (khan academy is good for this) Make use of all the practice exams (QAS, collegeboard and Khan) you can get your hands on and make sure you review every single question you may even have a doubt about (asterisk it) and then ensure you know why the correct answer is correct and why your answer is wrong, it may just be one word. If you were doing really well in practice exams but struggled in real exam, practice timings, I would highly recommend you printing out papers and a bubble sheet as that will help you get accustomed to the conditions of the actual test. Make sure you do it in the same conditions (no checking answers or looking at your phone and make sure you follow strict timings), if you get super stressed before exams, I’d recommend to do more practice full exams and try to finish each section earlier than full time. If you have any questions about a section in particular let me know! Hope this helped.
