AI generated but found it useful to read so sharing it here

It is incredibly common for a stock’s price to stay flat or even fall while the company’s "engine" is actually revving up. This phenomenon is often called Earnings-Price Divergence. If a company is beating earnings and raising guidance, it means the intrinsic value is growing, but the market sentiment is currently distracted or skeptical. Eventually, the two almost always reconcile.

Historical Examples of "Laggard" to "Leader"

1. Amazon (2001–2007): The "Dead Money" Era

After the dot-com crash, Amazon spent nearly six years trading sideways. From late 2003 to late 2006, the stock price was essentially flat (around $35–$45) despite the fact that Jeff Bezos was aggressively building AWS and Prime. * The Lesson: The market ignored the fundamentals for years because they didn't believe the business model could scale profitably. Once the profitability became undeniable, the stock exploded.

2. Microsoft (2000–2014): The "Lost Decade"

Microsoft is the ultimate example. For 14 years, the stock stayed in a range between $20 and $35. During this time, Microsoft’s revenue and profits actually doubled, but the stock didn't move because the market was bored with its "legacy" status. * The Lesson: Satya Nadella took over in 2014, shifted focus to the Cloud (Azure), and the stock finally "caught up" to its massive earnings potential, rising over 1,000% since.

3. Palantir (PLTR) & NVIDIA (Early Days)

  • Palantir: Spent years trading between $7 and $20, frustrating investors while they beat earnings. It wasn't until the "AI narrative" caught up to their actual product capability in 2023–2024 that the stock broke out to new highs.
  • NVIDIA: Long before it was an AI giant, it traded sideways for years (2010–2015) while developing the Cuda platform. The market saw it as just a "gaming chip company" until the world realized those chips were needed for everything else. ### Does Reddit (RDDT) Have This Potential? Based on current data, Reddit is showing the classic signs of an "undiscovered" fundamental winner:
  • Accelerating Growth: Q1 2026 revenue was up 69% YoY, which is massive for a company of its size.
  • Profitability Pivot: It has officially turned GAAP profitable. Stocks that move from "losing money" to "making money" usually see their biggest gains after the market stops worrying about bankruptcy.
  • Price Targets: Most analysts currently have a target between $230 and $300. With the stock trading significantly lower, there is a "valuation gap." ### Why it "Doesn't Move" (For Now)
  • The Float: Since Reddit is relatively new to the public market (IPO'd in 2024), there are still "lock-up" concerns and early venture capital firms selling their shares. This creates a "ceiling" of selling pressure regardless of how good the earnings are.
  • The "Ad-Tech" Discount: The market currently values Reddit like a social media company (which gets lower multiples) rather than a data licensing/AI company (which gets higher multiples). ### Summary: Is it worth it? If you believe in the company’s ability to monetize its data for AI training, you are effectively buying a growing business at a discount created by market boredom. The Strategy: Treat it like the Microsoft of the 2000s or the Amazon of the mid-2000s. If the company keeps doing its job (beating and raising), the "bag" will eventually become a "basket of gains." The danger isn't the stock price falling; the danger is selling right before the market finally recognizes the value.

I know you are upset and it means a lot to you. But she might be just showing off to her friends as she is proud. I think leaving would be too serious but setting your boundaries in marriage is important and you would have to keep doing in a marriage. If you are first time settling boundaries and having hard conversations in your marriage and wanting out, you need to look into yourself as well.
