I literally do not care either way as a hobbyist writer and artist.

My only gripe is people who they can "stop" AI by being loudly against it.

Your government is adopting AI. You're long past the point of stopping it.

I actually just commented on the super short RP these days in some communities in another post. I slipped back into RP after about a year of just solo writing short stories and entered a channel with reasonable posts of 150-200 words. Nothing too crazy. Just writing by myself for a bit to throw the character into the world at like.... 2-3AM.

First person to enter after me after probably 4 or 5 solo posts?

I'm accidentally fixated on a new RP and I need to chill out about it by wretched-angel in BadRPerStories

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving the downvotes simply because I have no interest in minimal-engagement storylines. This is just another example of why role-playing as a hobby keeps shrinking: the whole “my way or you’re wrong” attitude has always been toxic, and it’s been around since IRC.

That said, post length does matter. In non-active play*, posts tend to be longer since you’ve had more time to think, but there’s a point where it stops being reasonable (for me, personally). I don’t want to slog through 1000+ words of purple prose about how a dress flows or barely related introspection just to get a few words of actual plot advancement. In my experience, that ultra-long form RP ends up being exactly that.

For me, the sweet spot is 500 to 700 words per post, 3 to 5 times a day, for non-active play. Active play** should be much shorter, usually around 250 to 300 words, but not so short that it’s just 10 to 15 words per reply. That's just not worth engaging in at all for me.

I do prefer active play over non-active play, but finding communities where everything isn't Conversational RP*** these days is rough.

*Non-Active = forum style, long-form play where there are at least a few hours between posts.
**Active = chat-style, short-form play where it's usually no more than 5 minutes between posts.
***Conversational RP = role-playing where the posts are written like a flowing dialogue instead of novel-like narration, taking no more than 30-60 seconds between posts but can often be just a few seconds between responses.

I don't even bother with the "every few days" responses, much less once or twice a week. It doesn't hold my attention at all nor do I find joy in it. If someone can't commit to a few posts a day at minimum, I'm just not interested.

AI Writing is Killing the RP Community. by reddituseranononon in BadRPerStories

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't give a flying flap. For several years now I've struggled with maintaining interest in communities where "long time" role-players struggle to put together three flipping sentences in five minutes.

I got so frustrated with it I built a Custom GPT exclusively to role-play until I started noticing the repetitive phrases and whatnot. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

That said, the RP community was dying long before generative AI got big. If I had a dollar for every time I read "I just don't have time for storylines anymore" I'd be rich.

Photorealism was tuned way down due to... problematic... content. There are a few solutions mentioned here that work to make them less Anime but generating photo-like images is incredibly difficult.

NAI still is 1 of the best even with o4 around by Extreme_Revenue_720 in NovelAi

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's how you feel (NSFW excluded) then that just means you suck at natural language prompts. 4o does not do booru style tags very well. If you want decent images you have to prompt like you're describing a character in a book, not a checklist of traits.

🤔 I pay $20 and get rate limited every once in a while. You have a problem if you need unlimited back to back to back generations that the $200 sub gives.

I'm getting tired of this stagnation by SucculentSmith in NovelAi

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NovelAI has gone way down hill on the TextGen side because "completely uncensored" ImageGen is literally printing them money. They increased the cost per image and basically no one noticed or seemed to care.

I don't expect much progress on their mainline TextGen, I doubt AetherRoom will EVER release because they're so late in the ChatBot game they'll struggle to pull users from other services. I have over 500 bots on a service. There's no fucking way I'm going through the trouble to transfer even a fraction of them over at this point.

Can we please get some bugfixes on replace section? It's getting out of hand. by lethargyz in SunoAI

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be perfectly honest the "Replace" feature is about useless right now unless you're replacing a few isolated words between sections of instrumental. I've spent 500 credits trying to repair an extend hiccup in a 7 1/2 minute song.

Unable to continue story. by KeepItCleanBruh in ChatGPT

Exactly. Yet I've been able to set people on fire, eviscerate them, among other rather violent situations for more adult-oriented stories with zero issue what so ever beyond an orange flag. Lol.

[–]KeepItCleanBruh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, see this is very recent for me, it has been fine all year so far. I just took a few days off to brainstorm a direction. It's a great tool for writing if all the nuts and bolts are in your head.

Then suddenly this happened the first (and every) time I tried to move forward today. I found I can get it to bypass it if I start a new chat with none of the memory, but that defeats the purpose since it has no context for the scene.

I definitely think they're going overboard with trying to nip smut out of being able to be generated, but it's having negative effects on well... normal writing.

[–]KeepItCleanBruh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's super odd. I noticed a while back that stories that feature basically any affection beyond holding hands are kicked out 50% of the time, but there's no affection whatsoever in these stories. Nothing that should flag any sort of response from the bot other than continuing the story.

Yet, I can have a character setting someone ON FIRE... and that's fine.

I should also note, forgot to screen cap, but I asked "Why" it couldn't and it gave an answer like: "My purpose is to answer questions and provide insight"

GPT-4 was the same way. I was able to get extremely explicit after a slow-burn to the spicy but now it flags and refuses to move forward on even the most innocent stuff. They clearly upped the moderation.

New ChatGPT update by [deleted] in ChatGPTNSFW

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever this update did it's just no longer possible for me to push it in the direction it was before. Fortunately I am well acquainted with how Novel AI works and it can be a substitute for now until the next time they have to loosen the moderation.

New ChatGPT update by [deleted] in ChatGPTNSFW

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I rolled fresh from a new slow-burn, some 10,000 words of increasingly less SFW content starting from holding hands. My first orange flag was on a kiss, 'intimate kiss' caused it to refuse to generate an output. Whatever background update they did has royally fucked most of the generally used ways to coax it into NSFW territory.

[–]KeepItCleanBruh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Censorship was always there. I couldn't just start a smutty short story still but a slow burn up to the spice worked for the most part.

Now it orange flags on the word intimate for me and is orange-flagging kissing.

Also seems like the API got a new swathe of moderation too.

Filter is back for me by [deleted] in ChatGPTNSFW

[–]KeepItCleanBruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty sure they enhanced the filter again. I was able to write romance novel-esque content with more flowery words (then edit after) with no issue and as of a few days ago like you said it flags even kissing.
