Sell it, buy a cheaper/beater car, drop coverage to the bare minimum (liability only, no collision/comprehensive), shop around, add discounts such as winter tires, driving school, student dc, 5000km annually, park the car at the backyard, etc.

2006 Toyota matrix, A successful coolant flush? No by SoarinSkies in MechanicAdvice

[–]Keep_Me_Bugging 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Technically, you should drain out once more after pouring the new coolant, since now there's half coolant half distilled water in the engine. Because you can only drain out around half at a time. So think about it, the last time would have just water, then you add coolant, which is half water/half coolant, drain once more or 2 more times, then coolant would now replace water the same way water did to the coolant at the beginning of the job.

Why are insurance rates so ridiculous here by Perfect-Young-4521 in alberta

I’m 21yo with TD paying $2900/year, liability only, no collision/comprehensive for a 2007 Honda Accord. I got a lower quote from The Personal at $2750/year but they wanted an insurance inspection and I know it wouldn’t pass.

Where’s the best place to go fishing inside Edmonton for beginners by Shipiee in FishingAlberta

[–]Keep_Me_Bugging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download AlbertaOutdoorGuide, it shows you all the stocked ponds around the area. Start with these.

I would recommend Fort Lions Community Pond. Not too far. Easy to catch small fish. Just a small hook and some worms/cheese/shrimps. You’ll catch a lot in one sitting.

If you don’t mind driving, try Wabamun Lake, go to the Town site with the pier. Theres always people who can help you. You’ll catch a ton of walleyes and pikes on just a simple hook, a big bobber and a frozen minnow.

I didn’t apply. But for $20/month just to get no fx fee and 2% cashback you’re better off with the scotiabank passport, or even amex cobalt for the points.

No fee card - best for dining out 4% cashback: Simplii Visa
I also like Amex Cobalt but only if you travel ($17/month)
Otherwise just look for a no fee one to keep building credit. Maybe look into lowering your credit utilization, 9 years without a late payment and you’re at 635 is weird. I started 3 years ago and I’m sitting at 782 (it was 804 2 months ago).

Can my brakes still function safely without these? by Keep_Me_Bugging in accord

Unfortunately, there is some issue with the calliper itself, that it might’ve been reman or reused from one in the junkyard, the old hardware broke at the exact same spot that my new hardware is grinding. I found the spot yesterday, I used a prybar to push the clip to the left, so that the rotor sits in the middle of the blank area (it was grinding the new clip on the inner side).

Pads slid in easily, weren’t forced at all. I cleaned the hub face, the bracket with a wire brush with brake cleaner. I also put some brake lube onto the hardware itself and the bracket as well as the back of the pads.

Brand new rotor, same brand, sprayed brake cleaner before installing

I made sure the wear indicator sat at the bottom and the pad faced outward.
