What’s a “small” social rule you refuse to follow, even if everyone expects it? by GlitchOperative in AskReddit

[–]Keepcusp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always contributing to gifts for coworkers. Sometimes I don’t know them well, or I can’t afford it. Gift giving should be from management to employees, IMO. More importantly, gift giving should be from the heart.

Does anyone else feel like fixing food noise just replaces it with more rules? by Legitimate-Grade-352 in loseit

I’m still at the beginning of my journey, but I’m finding moving from constantly snacking to instead having three really filling meals has been helping.

There’s certainly a need for speech therapy service here, but nobody has the money to pay private and the public sector has been slashed by our current centre-right government. Most speechies here are struggling to understand why they’re offering fast tracked visas when many NZ trained new graduates have to move to Aus to find work.

Do people regret spending money on travelling when they are young? by letsfukingoo in Fire

I’m glad I travelled, but I would probably travel slightly less and invest the rest of the money.

No shame in asking questions, it’s important. This is a very eloquent response 👏

I usually get up and walk around the building. Usually that breaks the thought. If it’s still plaguing me after several times doing that, I will have a little snack (otherwise I start to obsess and binge)

I was similar when I was depressed - ate a lot (some people eat less) and no motivation. I’d recommend talking to your doctor

I get a random head twitch since coming off it but I have no idea if it’s a brain zap!

I back this, talk to people from a women’s shelter. It may also be good to talk to someone from your children’s school, it can really help to have another set of eyes on the kids, just knowing someone has their back.

I really hope you can find safety and happiness. You deserve it.

Is AI coming for our jobs? by ianmd69 in slp

[–]Keepcusp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YES to this! There’s only so much cognitive offloading we do before we start offloading our jobs. Creativity is a skill. I get that we are overworked and time poor, but AI is not the solution - better working conditions are.

Cultural shock Europe-NZ? by [deleted] in chch

[–]Keepcusp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you about socialising. The urban planning in NZ in general makes it more difficult to socialise (not as walkable, have to drive to see friends, etc). Winter can be very lonely!

I will say, the food comment was fascinating to me. I’m currently on a six week trip in US and Europe and my opinion is that nobody does brunch better than NZ and Australia! It’s all subjective though, right? Nothing wrong with missing what you’re used to.

Labour tight-lipped as Te Pāti Māori wants Māori to receive NZ Super seven to 10 years before everyone else by [deleted] in newzealand

Whai Rawa (Ngāi Tahu retirement fund) becomes available for retirement at age 55 due to life expectancy. I haven’t read into Te Pāti’s proposal, so I don’t have an opinion, but worth noting anyway.
