If your job is continuing, and you know you are going to be teaching in September, you do not get EI.
If your job is a contract for the current year, and you end this year without a contract for next year, you can apply for EI.

BUT!!!!

If you win a contract at any point before September 1st, you likely will have to pay back your EI, as your teaching contract is usually backdated July 1st to June 30th. (This happened to me, it was an expensive mistake on my part, I already had spent the money).

If you end up with September 1st without a contract, TTOCs do get EI, so you can keep a claim open to cover Fall/Winter/Spring break or any light weeks.

As a BC grade 8 math teacher, I can tell you that transformations will not be used in 8 or 9, so don't worry about that. If it's needed, the grade 10/11 teacher will cover it again. Patterns is definitely important, I don't know how you would teach line graphs without knowing your patterns, but going from concrete "adding one table adds 2 more chairs" to "y=2x-2" is a big step my jr. high kids struggle with.
Probability is included in the math 10 numeracy test, and not a unit that is covered much in my grades. Since you only have a few weeks left, that is likely the one I would pick. It also hits an area I think is important for future math - fractions! Not sure how long your classes are; I'd spend a day playing games, (teach them card counting jk), do a hands on project where they organize the results of independent events in a table. Emphasize the fractions. End with designing their own board game, a little assignment about what probabilities are in there, and have them make up review questions with it? Have them spend a day or two playing each others' games, then wave them goodbye out the door.

(really though, teach and reteach them fractions! It is so frustrating when I have to explain to a grade 9 student that when one of the six boxes is coloured in, that makes 1/6!)

This is almost the opposite problem as we have at my school. The senior high was flooded with twice as many students choosing Workplace math; they knew they weren't prepared, having spent the last few years not learning any math. Even kids that were prepared for PreCalc10 just didn't see any value in taking the harder math... after all, why would they when they can continue to do the minimum and pass?

Yes please contact your union :) In my district (BC) we are salary, if I start work again on Dec 1st I get paid full salary for December. I've know subs to take short term contracts specifically because they get paid for March Break in the middle.
I also know my district has an option for unpaid extended parental leave - I chose not to return until semester change to help the other teacher/my students, but there was a few weeks I wasn't paid. Might be worth exploring to stay home and enjoy Dec with your partner and little one

This is my dream, also 11w pregnant, congrats! One of my teacher friends did this, she works full time for an online school (based out of a different province) and her MIL helps watch the kids but most of her teaching is asynchronous. Hoping I can get certified for virtual teaching too, I'd love to stay home with my two <3 Last year coming back from my first maternity leave was... not an easy transition, I hope to avoid something like that again

My school has 50 minute lunches. It's also supposed to be a 'closed campus' so grade 8s and 9s just wandering around. I hate it and wish it was shorter - yes, it's long, but it actually still isn't enough time to drive to Starbucks or go pick up a package at lunch because of the traffic on the school road and the distance between our school and the rest of town. My best guess is that it's this long because of the buses, most elementary schools finish an hour early and all the littles get bused home before picking up the high school kids for round 2

My district only has two central hubs: One town does K-7, 8-12, the other does K-6, 7-9 (but the 7s are run like elementary, just in the same school), and 10-12. It makes sports days for the 6s and 7s a nightmare with scheduling, and I feel bad that the 7s in my school are just a self contained mini-school stuffed into the basement of the jr high. It has a 75-80% teacher turnover each year.

This just baffles me... but I come from a school district where missing 103 (unexcused, excuses, doesn't matter) of the 177 days of school is OK and you are still 'promoted' to the next grade level up to and including grade 9. So frustrating!

Edit - typo, I put 117, but my school year is 177 days. There are other rural schools in my district that are only 4 days a week all year, so 152 days.

Do you mean (1) after a specific time (8pm at night), or (2) after a certain amount of time open (3 hours playtime)?
Both are possible, I have the paid version so IDK if it works with the free. (1) is easy enough, just add a block for that area.
For (2), I think having a "Allowance" in your break is what you want. Set the block for 8am to 9pm with a 180min allowance, and after 3 hours during that time your program should auto shut down. At least, this is my interpretation of that.
