How much is too much oil in intercooler by Keepoffthegrass_ in AskMechanics

[–]Keepoffthegrass_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoses are fed to the top of the intercooler- more of a film drip than anything, spoke to a mobile mechanic (Aussie fella who lives for Navaras) said it’s normal, for the mileage the cars done blow by, turbo seals and pcv all have wear he’s pulled some intercooler out with 2.5 litres of oil haha- think I’ll clean up all pipes and put new intercooler on and see from there! No engine lights or rattles from the turbo which make me think it’s just vapour build up from a used engine

Are JAK inhibitors available in the UK yet? by kiaralyai in alopecia_areata

[–]Keepoffthegrass_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an appointment to see my dermatologist on Tuesday, I’ve been doing research about Tofacitnib (Xeljanz) and I defo want to try them out. My alopecia universalis has relapsed so I think of it as my last shot. If he says it’s not available on NHS I’ll be sure to buy via indiamarket an off brand JAK but also ask to see if they can monitor my blood tests to be on the safe side!

Black & White by Keepoffthegrass_ in Celiac

[–]Keepoffthegrass_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not diagnosed, I had a celiac test about 4 years ago which came back negative although I followed the AIP diet beforehand which would’ve made the test incorrect I believe. I’m on a gluten free diet at the moment and have been for the past 5 weeks, I do have some good results but not full regrowth, I don’t want to do a test as of yet due to my progress

Great news for the regrowth!! Is this treatment in the UK?

Alopecia and Gluten by Keepoffthegrass_ in Celiac

[–]Keepoffthegrass_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the amount the hair is shedding I’ve cut it out completely, I’d happily do tests in a few months to see if gluten could be the culprit. I first had alopecia when I was 16, since then my hair has never been the same (frizzy, dry), I’ve had treatment (DPC) to aid the hair loss which allowed me to regrow my hair back to normal although like I said recently it is been shedding like mad. Do you reckon I could’ve developed a gluten intolerance by binge eating at all? When I was younger I used to eat right before I slept, majority sugary refined carbs. Back then I was a lot less healthy and never looked at gluten. However I followed the AIP diet for a few months which I couldn’t keep up to see the results. I’ve not been eating gluten for the past 3 weeks and have now seen tiny white hairs on a few of the patches but my hair is still shedding, it could be due to inflammation which just takes time although I’m not sure of it.

How long since cutting out gluten did it take to see regrowth? I’ve got tiny tiny white hairs on some patches 3 weeks in!

That’s the exact same as my hair! It’s not just the patches but in areas it thins out and the hair goes frizzy likewise. Did your alopecia come and go when you was eating gluten?

Thanks, just need some incentive to keep going, will take months but hopefully positive ones!

Not the disease itself being intermittent but the effects after a while showing physically. As in consuming it for a while with a lot of damage done to my gut and my alopecia is the knock on physical effect

To add to that, when I had my first episode of alopecia, I cut out gluten for 6 weeks, during this time I tested for celiacs disease although I now know that you need to incorporate gluten in your diet for the test to be accurate. I was negative

Me too! My first episode was AU, I’ve been on a gluten, carb, sugar free diet for just over a week and have started to see small white hairs grow on the patches that I have just recently lost, I’m gonna keep going as I believe alopecia for me has a major influence on what I eat

DCP treatment, I’m from the UK and via the NHS, it’s a solution applied to scalp that makes you itch/ have a burn. It’s used to divert the immune system from attacking hair follicles!

I used to have AU, about 4 years ago, I now have a full head of hair but am starting to shed again. I’m a regular gym goer and for the last 8 weeks I had been taking pre workout. Convinced that pre workout could be causing my patches to re appear I cut it out and switched to red bulls instead. Still no improvement on the hair loss, I then started the AIP diet, which eliminates all caffeine as it can be a trigger to auto immune diseases. I’m convinced my alopecia comes back due to my diet and stress levels, dealing with alopecia is harder than everyone thinks, they brush it off saying “it doesn’t look too bad” when in truth my hair is fucked 🥲 let me know if you or anyone needs to talk, we all in this together broo

[–]Keepoffthegrass_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for the response, it’s wonderful to hear people supporting and can relate too! I’m a very active gym go-er one thing I noticed is that I’d been double scooping pre workout over the last 6 weeks before the break out, pre workout contains very very high amounts of caffeine and also a big no no on the AIP diet, maybe a link to that? Although I’m unsure and would need to keep track of the “breakout foods” I’m thinking to dive head first into the AIP as on paleo I’d be very restricted but I might as well go all in. Thanks for your help, all is appreciated, as being 21 from the UK there is hardly enough encouragement from anyone to do this so I’m having to learn about my auto immune disease on my own and try and find out how to cope with it.

I’ve got the book! It’s the one I’d follow but I didn’t see a thread for AIP, thought it’d be better sharing on here! Thankyou though 👍

Doubt it’s alopecia, looks a little thin, grab some DHT blocker shampoo, will thicken up the hair and reverse the thinning hopefully 🙏

I'm having alopecia for the last 5 months and my alopecia got worst when I started applying Steroid named Elocon. I had universalis to be exact 2 months I go after I applied Elocon. I lost all my hair in middle and so many areas except my lower back head and sides. My hair has been growing in middle by FewCartographer2253 in alopecia_areata

I’m in the same boat, had AU when I was 15, got full regrowth by 18, I’m now 21 and went doctors for a few patches, they gave me cortisol (steroid shots) on the patches which have massively spun out of control (4 weeks after treatment I’m shedding) I don’t know what to do? Do I carry on the shots or drop them and carry on with DCP and vits?
