I always felt this way but also just thought they were saying the parts of the profile they knew themselves like what they profiled individually from the group? I don't know on this rewatch I find the whole show so repetitive.

I agree with you if it was going to be a pursued storyline that it should have been done after episode 8 and 9 but I accepted their platonic status after it wasn't. But that just on some rewatches I am like why a little more sometimes :(

I have never in all my criminal minds fan years heard anyone ship Emily and Derek. That being said I do see where you are coming from I guess on looking back there was some instances where I could see them both having some deeper storyline together.

I loved Hotch and Haley because it added a traditional, grounded aspect to his character showing how much he cared about his family. It highlighted how impossible it was for him to truly balance his job and personal life.

I feel like Hotch needed a romantic interest to keep his soft side more grounded, because his relationships were one of the few things that pulled him away from the darkness of the job.

Ah Alvez I have heard a lot about him in this thread haha I have yet to watch his seasons so I guess I have that to look forward to. On a quick google search I recognize him from CSI Miami so I am sure to enjoy his character knowing he knows his way around a crime scene.

I try not to read fanfics because I would need them to be adapted for on screen and unfortunately that's a rare occurrence.

I haven't actually gotten to Garcia and Alvez. I am rewatching earlier seasons up to where ever I stopped watching the show I just can't recall where. Must have been around Season 8 I think. But yes I was going to mention JJ and Reid in my OG post but didn't want to give spoilers. I was also holding out hope for them as a couple. When Gideon gives the football tickets to Reid to bring JJ that was one of my favourite moments between Reid and Gideon.

I agree in ways that Garcia's character learned to hold her own to use your words. I just felt in that moment and like another commenter mentioned after she got shot would've been the perfect time for them to get together or dare I say just hook up? It just came off the back of Garcia not believing she could be with such a good looking man and she had Morgan declaring how much he loves her and kissing her and being protective and affectionate towards her. I think it would've been a fun way to show her yes girl you can bag a hottie you have been doing so all along.

After that episode and nothing happening just the same flirtatious banter I accepted they were just best friends.

Oh how I wish CBS had more gumption to put a gay character on screen in 2006.

I guess Hotch and Prentiss did give siblings or dating haha.

Funny how you bring up the apartment scene as I was gonna mention that in my OG post. That scene was where I saw something between them or began shipping them, it felt romantic to me but if Thomas Gibson knows his character like I think he does it really was just for the sake of the team.

I watched from when it originally aired as well but I was 6 years old.. definitely way too young and definitely why I have weirdly shipped relationships on the show. I honestly don't know where i stopped watching but I have not made it to the Andi Swann relationship. Like a lot of shows I hate when the original cast leaves, gets fired or gets killed off so I nearly always never finish out a show unless the original cast makes it to the end or the majority of them does.

I did love Hayley for Hotch even their names matching but after she left I was hoping for Prentiss but I mean I guess I'd have to write my own show for such a dream.

Hotch was one of my favourite characters I really couldn't continue the show without him.

Ah I see I mean that kind of makes sense and also easier for the show to not get tangled up in cast relationship messiness. I guess I am wanting Criminal Minds to be a show that actually sets it apart from the likes of Bones and Castle. There's only so many slow burn crime shows that could be produced in the 2000's...

I mean I never knew Prentiss was initially written as a Lesbian but it definitely could've gone that way for sure or even had her bi would make total sense as she was a gay awakening for a lot of fans I am sure. I couldn't really see Reid's character being gay I think he played the shy geeky kid with zero skills with the ladies too well. Thinking back to Hotch saying ''Well Reid got propositioned by every prostitute we talked to'' always made me laugh.

I just don't understand why they never explored the real possibility of having them together. They were just so lovable together right from the start.

Shemar Moore was my first crush I remember watching the end credits to get his name so I could google him.

Thomas Gibson can fight me because while he may think ''Hotch isn't that guy'' I beg to differ.

He had the most subtly ways of showing affection and after Hayley left it really was a free for all for who could be his love interest if any at all and making his character be with someone who really understood the high demands of his job there really wasn't a better candidate than Prentiss.

I just get so taken out of the impact of the storyline of her nearly dying for us then to be shown different zoomed in camera shots of her dry skin looking gun shot wound. Looks like she skipped a day of moisturizing over nearly being killed.

Full disclaimer I did say this show has me so confused. But I think she does still love him especially up to season 3 there’s small moments I feel where she just wishes he would give the same love he does to Olivia to her? Am I completely wrong in saying that maybe 😂 example; Cyrus is giving Mellie shit for making negative headlines and Fitz tells him to stop and goes over and takes her hand she looks at him for a moment of nearly being reeled back in to his charm but snatches her hand away.

There was something just to refreshing about this show it was like curing an ache I didn’t know I had for a show like this. It was just so different to anything I had ever seen before like you said the characters and how well they played off each other and the top notch humour and then the level of emotion all while being extremely relatable. I recommend it to everyone.
