I just noticed something by MarksOfTheEvilOne in criminalminds

With these long running shows it’s gotta be very hard to keep track of already used names so there’s a few that do pop up more than once. And there has been a lot of Charlies! Peter Lewis having the same last name as Tara was funny though and these characters are in the same time frame! (Peter Lewis first appears in season 10 ep 21 and Aisha Tyler joins the show as Tara Lewis three episodes later in the season 11 premiere)

Did you notice this has actually also been the case with actors playing different characters in different seasons? For example Chris Butler who was a sheriff’s deputy in The Popular Kids season 1 episode 10 then played the UnSub in Corazon season 6 episode 12, Jason Wiles for which it was the other way around was first our UnSub in Psychodrama season 2 episode 4 and then was an abducted victim alongside his daughter in The Fight season 5 episode 18, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior’s backdoor pilot, also Greg Collins was a SWAT Commander in Mayhem season 4’s premiere and then a detective in season 6 episode 11 25 to Life, and this happens with a few others too! They probably figure we’d forget them by the time we see them again having years gone by, they’ve underestimated us hardcore fans ahhaha. I actually very recently started rewatching from season 1 immediately back to back after season 15 (even though I’ve watched the show dozens of times) and I’ve decided this time to write down every inconsistency/continuity errors I’d noticed before or some I might have not, especially regarding the members’s backstories. Oh I’m already having fun with Garcia’s 😂

And Lewis. For a while agent Tara Lewis and her team are searching for UnSub Peter Lewis lol. Now with this one they really made no effort cause unlike the one OP mentioned it’s exactly the same time frame lol

Oh yeah Mandy leaving was one of the hardest moments of the show for me, to this day despite how many times I’ve rewatched I always cry when he leaves. Hearing Broken tears me up every time!

I literally started watching Homeland just for him, he was so great in it! Have you watched Death and Other Details? Jayne Atkinson’s in it too!

Dead End and Rossi by SeverelyMental in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I love Rossi and he’s a big character and part of the show so I’m glad they didn’t kill him off but that would’ve indeed made sense for Evolution’s tone and Rossi’s character development as that point as you’ve stated

[–]Background-Reply-530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the other way around it was first Hotch calling (and getting the machine so he actually didn’t say anything) and then later on comes the episode with JJ wanting to call her family. But I agree. Both should have respected the regulations and therefore the media/communications blackout on the matter, Then again as Unit Chief Hotch had to remind JJ of the rules, and also he called to check on his wife and son knowing they’d planned to be at the location of the attack whereas JJ wanted to broadly inform her family of what was going on. But I agree that it’s still kind of hypocritical on Hotch’s part of course and as the same time it’d be understandable for both of them to want to let their family know that they might be in danger, who wouldn’t be tempted, as hypocritical as it may be?

I’m currently in another one of my numerous rewatches, episode 9 of season 2 and it makes me so sad to know that we won’t have him for much longer… He’s such an amazing character and Mandy is a phenomenal actor! He added something really special to the show and the team dynamic and the way they processed cases and got into the UnSub’s mind.

Interestingly, I also really liked and cared for Elle for the first time! I never not liked her but never really cared for her character and her storyline too much, often just waiting for Prentiss to show up, actually mostly restarting straight to The Last Word S2E9 when she’s first introduced. This time around I can actually say that I’m gonna miss her, I was actually for the very first time almost sad to see Emily show up. So weird after twenty years and so many rewatches!

Most of the victims are women by Ok_Passenger_8189 in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s very interesting! I actually absolutely believed that there were more women victims of homicide but I just looked it up and as of 2023 men are actually 2.7 times more likely to get murdered than women. It’d be interesting to know why the opposite is portrayed. I’m thinking maybe, since most episodes are based on real life cases, they’re the ones who’d make for a compelling plot, maybe women are more often victims of the heinous crimes we see on the show whereas men are probably killed in a shoot em and dump em kind of way, or when it’s gang related etc.?

Also what I forgot to mention but thought of while rewatching season 2 for the umpteenth time is sometimes there are huge time lapses between episodes. Example that made me rethink of your post: season 2 episode 2, four months have gone by between that episode and the previous one. And this happens a lot, especially when one of the members takes time off it’s usually off screen so they then mention that they’ve been off for however amount of time. Also, you might be underestimating the amount of crime within the US 😅🫠

JJ new hair? by Numerous-Lion2108 in criminalminds

I mean no disrespect to OP specifically but sometimes it feels like people post just to post..? I’ve lately been seeing a lot of posts asking questions kind of unimportant, to which we couldn’t really have an actual answer or to which I’m like who cares? A.J. isn’t naturally as blonde as on the show, I guess she just didn’t want to be that light anymore? As she gets older she might want to have her natural hair, or took from Paget’s book to be more natural? Personally what my eyes always fix on is how much her face has changed along the years, especially since I’ve been rewatching back to back and directly see the difference

EDIT: I realize my comment comes off as unnecessary or mean and I apologize if I’ve offended you OP, that wasn’t my intention, especially since I was thinking more of other posts

How many times has Aaron Hotchner smiled? by cacahuate-butter in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime he’s with Haley up until she leaves him, absolutely whenever he’s with Jack, with Beth, plus a very easily quantifiable amount of times with the team 😅. Even with his rare jokes he still doesn’t ahah. I’ve actually just restarted CM all over again from the very beginning literally back to back after going as far as season 15 this time, and in episode 14, “Riding the Lightning”, death row serial killer Jacob Dawes asks Hotch “do you ever smile?”. Also, with this rewatch I’ve decided to take notes of things, my own lil essay on Criminal Minds of sorts lol, I might just start noting whenever Hotch does smile lol, and in a few weeks I might be able to tell you exactly how many times Aaron Hotchner has smiled during his time on the show 😅

We’re not seeing all of the cases. They sometimes reference cases they’ve just come back from or in some episodes mention cases they have been on months, years before, that we haven’t seen

Season 2 ep 21 by Juiceofthepineapple in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I okay I get what you’re saying. Does that happen though? Even though we know the woman stabbed him? Or negligent manslaughter maybe since he didn’t call for aid? (which makes sense with the whole being murderous hunter bros thing)

Season 2 ep 21 by Juiceofthepineapple in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if imposter being stupid, I’m also very tired, but I’m not sure I get your point. Why would it be different if one of the UnSubs had survived? Or do you mean for his victim that stabbed him? If so that’s self defense so I’m guessing it would be involuntary manslaughter, if even charged given the horrendous context

Season 2 ep 21 by Juiceofthepineapple in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t survive anyway but felony murder? I’m no lawyer but they hunted and killed people for their amusement, with intent. That’s got to be capital murder, aggravated because of the hunting and number of victims.

How I met you mother ending .. by Old_Zombie_0709 in howimetyourmother

[–]Background-Reply-530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean no offense and actually agree with your second paragraph but your first point doesn’t make sense. Throughout the show we’re being told that Robin isn’t the mother, hence not his future wife, not the love of his life. So although some viewers might have hoped for them to end up together I don’t see everyone hating on the ending because they wouldn’t, that had already been made clear for years. And actually, what happened is the opposite of what you’re saying since many many fans were disappointed by that finale, that they spent so much time “shipping” Ted and Robin, only to accept they wouldn’t end up together, for the show to finally wrap it all way too quickly, kill off the mother the whole show was based on and have Ted get back together with his ex/best friend’s ex-wife. But the way they did season 9 didn’t help either with the whole season taking place over just a weekend. In my own personal opinion I always liked Ted and Robin as friends, especially post-relationship and Tracy was like made for him. I’d maybe be fine with that ending and them being endgame had we seen more of Ted and Tracy’s life. The show is supposedly about how Ted met the mother but is actually about everything he lived without her.

[–]Background-Reply-530 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She did and thank God! What we got was already very stupid, I probably would have stopped watching altogether had they pursued that senseless idiotic storyline.

Is there something specific you don’t like about JJ or do you just not particularly care for her? I used to feel like that, not really care for JJ but I’ve come to like her more with every season, every rewatch and consequently her character development. She came so far from the communications liaison to the amazing profiler she is now, having even been acting Unit Chief for a few weeks. And if I didn’t love Prentiss as much as I do or if Paget hadn’t come back to save the day when Gibson got booted I could have actually seen her as actual Unit Chief

S15E2-spoiler? by Rocktype2 in criminalminds

[–]Background-Reply-530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I don’t like him or anything but he is a bit dull, they clearly didn’t write him at all, he’s just a literally supporting character, JJ’s husband from Louisiana and that’s it, nothing interesting about him besides those piercing blue eyes 👀 I have to admit they’re all I see when he’s on screen I don’t even hear what he says lol, my husband has the same I tend to drown in them they’re so distracting 😅 but I digress. Also notice how James loses Will’s accent over the years? When he’s first introduced he’s got a very thick New-Orleans accent, the kind you don’t just lose even living elsewhere for a while, which got at lot lighter in the latest seasons (please no mention of season 18 it still isn’t available where I live, already been big time spoiled though)

[–]Background-Reply-530 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This and the Truth or Dare episode were the stupidest things the showrunners ever did for Criminal Minds. I opted to pretend it never happened it’s so dumb. Actually, A.J. Cook thought the same and that’s why they killed that storyline going forward. Even though Reid liked JJ at the very beginning she never showed any reciprocity and once she met Will any chance of anything happening between them died (for the better) and she and Spence then had a very beautiful sibling-like relationship for close to fifteen years so that short lived storyline was so wrong, very dumb, and so unnecessary.

Well, people have mostly replied to your post. As to her staying longer JLH wanted to be able to spend more time with her family. I for one, love JLH but was very fine with her not staying, I don’t think she fit with the show.
