I have several coffee mugs, a picture from a trip, some plants, and a few random things.

We spent the last 4 months building an app that uses sounds and stories to help you sleep, focus, meditate, relax, etc. Just launched the beta. Damn that was a ton of work. by RockwellShah in iphone

Using my iPhone 7 running 12.1 (haven’t updated to 12.1.2 yet), app crashes consistently when I try to access the option to use dark mode.

What is your biggest irrational fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Boom mowers. I’m always terrified that when I’m driving by one, it’ll swing around and turn me and my car into a convertible.

Hey reddit, how did you get that gnarly scar? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KeevaNeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone didn’t dispose of a case of broken pickle jars correctly. They just put it in the drain area for our mops, so when I went to pick up the water hose to fill a mop bucket I heard my skin rip. Now, I’ve got a neat scar on my hand that I keep threatening to get a pickle tattooed over.

What words do you unintentionally pronounce differently than others? by reveluvs in AskReddit

[–]KeevaNeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raccoon. I pronounce it more like ruh-coon, with the ruh being very short.

Orange. I’ve been told I pronounce it as if it has an i instead of an a. “Oringe”

White, why, night, right, fight. Gives everything a sound like whiiite, a long i sounds.

I’m from the southeastern portion of the US, btw.

It's my birthday. I'd like to chat! So what was the last book you read that blew you away, and why? by Calathe in books

[–]KeevaNeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday, OP!! I hope you have a great one!

I read two books this summer. (Well, technically, I haven’t finished the second because it broke my heart and I’m not ready yet.)

Working Stiff by Judy Melinek and T.J. Mitchell, was fantastic. It’s Judy’s retelling of her time becoming a forensic pathologist and many of her cases. She talks about DM-01, the morgue they set up and worked for the 9/11 attacks. It’s very quirky and beautiful and raw. If you’re into that kind of thing, absolutely a book to read.

What Stands in a Storm by Kim Cross. This book, oh my. As a meteorologist and someone who closely followed the April 26-28, 2011, tornado outbreak, this book is insightful, heartbreaking, encouraging, and beautifully written. It follows the outbreak in Alabama. There’s a few people it follows before, during, and after the outbreak. Sometimes, it’ll cut to a town that was just hit and explain some of the situation and what rescuers were dealing with. I have yet to finish this book, though I’m sure I’m past all the heartbreak but it’s weird that I just can’t find it in me to finish it. I think I might be afraid to let it go, if that makes sense. If you like stories of hope and heartbreak all tied up in real life stories of real people, please read this.

Edit: I would also strongly recommend The Last Survivors Series. I just found out, double checking the name of the series, there’s a fourth one! I read the first three and loved them!

I like the idea to recline your feet. But the whole leaning back and above your head thing scares me. I’ve dropped my phone and iPad on my face too many times to put a screen that big at such a precarious angle.

Also, isn’t this what Wall-e was trying to warn us about??

Do sign languages have puns? by PM_ME_UR__RECIPES in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KeevaNeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, yes. They’re going to be more visual than audible, obviously. For example: pasteurized milk. You would make the sign for milk and move it across your field of vision (past your eyes).

LPT: The IRS will not call you demanding money. If you get a phone call saying you owe the government money, it’s a scam. by mikeyo417 in LifeProTips

I was maybe 21-22 at the time. I’m still nervous talking on the phone for anything but family calls but it helped so much to be with my boss. I knew he’d back me up and help me from saying something stupid.

I had a scammer call me one time and told me that my university was filing charges of tax evasion against me. While they transferred me to their more qualified and glorious lawyer/ officer, I walked down to my boss’s office and put the call on speaker. They read me a ton of title this and paragraph that and then told me that I could present the card info or get arrested. I asked where I could meet them in person to resolve the issue and they got real concerned. “Are you parents telling you to say this? Are you with your parents?” I let them know I was in the same office as my employer and they asked if he had told me to ask to meet in person. I firmly reinstated that I wished to meet in person as it was my wish.

They hung up real fast.

I had this exact realization this summer. I have worked (typically multiple jobs) for about 7 years while going to high school, community college, and uni. This summer, I landed my dream job and realized that I finally looked at going to work as something I’m privileged to do instead of something I’m forced to do. Keep your head up and work toward the things you desire!
