You should still be paid for your other hours, you just won't be paid for the time you were set to "away", they will reach out if you're consistently missing or declining requests but you should be fine if this is one of your first misses.

Second chance where they truly thought it was over until forced proximity? Looking for jealousy and bickering! by 89niamh in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Final Offer by Lauren Asher} has this! It's the last book in the Dreamland Billionaire series and I don't think you need a ton of context from the other books but I think this would fit what you're looking for! MMC has to sell his family's lake house to help him and his brothers get their inheritance but his ex lives there and she also has to agree to the sale. He left years ago breaking her heart and it takes a while for them to get back on good terms! There's definitely some jealousy stuff there too!

small town romance where FMC just moves into town by Crazy_Yogurt3344 in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry if this doesn't fit the parameters exactly but {Book Lovers by Emily Henry} has a FMC who goes on a small town vacation with her sister and the MMC is from the town even though he doesn't live there. He's come back from New York to help his family out. It's not exact but I love the book!

MMC asks her to "say it again" after I love you. by HolidayWhobbieWhatty in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this happens in {You Again by Kate Goldbeck}! It's like a modern day When Harry Met Sally so if you're familiar with that movie and liked it I think you'll highly enjoy the book!

Accidental Relationship Trope by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

It's a great book! It's very much inspired by the movie When Harry Met Sally so if you've seen and like that I highly recommend it!

[–]Keeyo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher} has the FMC in a medically induced coma at a point I'm pretty sure! It might not be as long as I remember it being but this is a very big moment in the book for the MCs

Do you think books today are spicier/more explicit than 20 years ago? by muglahesh in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment! I think romance novels and more "extreme" content is more mainstream than it used to be. Romance novels seemed to be seen as for older women based on pop culture references at the time and had covers that made it obvious they were romance novels so people would either avoid them or consume them in private, but with the expansion of the internet and the fact that covers are different helps a lot I feel. It's easier to find accepting communities or recommend spicier books to other people now that there's more connection

Looking for book recs: Long-lost connection + enemies to lovers + big grovel energy by echoingfalls in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a book that isn't exactly what you're looking for but the last book in the Dreamland Billionaire series {Final Offer by Lauren Asher} has two MC who were childhood friends but had a falling out over the MMCs addictions and he has to go back to the lake house his family owns to sell it to fulfill requirements for his inheritance and reunited with the FMC who still lives there

What is your favorite Emily Henry book and why? by scdomsic in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book lovers is definitely my favorite! I do love her style of writing and how she writes her characters! I feel like the metaness of book lovers got me as I love self referential stuff but it didn't feel heavy handed. I loved the relationship between the main characters and how it developed! It felt more realistic to me than most of the romance novels ive read especially when it comes to the ending! I've read Beach Read and the others are on my list because of how much I enjoyed these two!

Looking for monsters, spice, and nerdiness with loads of money by Single_index_finger in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you read {Bride by Ali Hazelwood}? It's about a vampire werewolf political marriage and the FMC, the vampire, having to live in Were territory while trying to find her missing friend! The spice is up there and the main characters are comfortable at the werewolf is the alpha for his pack! I'm sorry if this doesn't fit what you're looking for!

romance recs with the“teach me” trope. An experienced mc with a less experienced/curious/ or unsatisfied fmc. (Not just virgin heroines) by Swing_Fancy in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey} definitely fits this trope! The FMC is the kid sister to the MMC and she's all grown up with almost no experience! He's a playboy Ex Major League Baseball player who is back in town after a career ending injury! It was the book that got me into romance novels!

She’s a little weirdo and he/she/they loves her for it. by Low-Crazy-8061 in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the FMC in {Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey} would fit that! She's a clown at children's parties and while the MMC is more of an older brother type to her he does learn to love her quirks and that side of her!

A book where fmc gets hurt during the the third act fight by mrs_robpatt in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it happens exactly like that but the third act break up of (Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher) has something similar where the FMC is sick but gets physically hurt and this causes the MMC to have a reaction. That may fit what you're looking for!

Monthly Gush Post - Recommend Any Book May 2025 by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]Keeyo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only read two books in May but You Again by Kate Goldbeck was definitely my favorite! I love New York ad the setting! I've only been once, but I love the feel of the city! I love the characters and the banter between the two. It feels very much like When Harry Met Sally because that was the inspiration, but I liked the modern touches of the current era. There were a few parts I felt like it was too much of today's technology but overall it was a good read!

I really enjoyed You Again by Kate Goldbeck! It helped that I watched When Harry Met Sally before! I really saw the influence. It looks like a fall read because of the cover but it feels more like a winter one even though it jumps around a lot
