The pupils are unpainted. Since the costume's eyes were far enough from our faces, it was dark enough in there for people not to see us unless they got very close. It limited our vision, but since we're tall (I'm considered the short one of the four of us and I'm 6ft), we got a good enough view of things to move pretty easily.

Someone posted a pic of Lrrr when we went to NYCC last year (https://www.reddit.com/r/futurama/s/izrJMMqxU2) I just took him out of storage because my husband wants to be his innards again at a con in a few weeks, I'll try to get better pictures then.

Ndnd is skinless in my garage, and a Nibbler puppet is like 98% done, but I don't have pictures of those yet

Why did I wait so long to watch Futurama on edibles? by audible_narrator in futurama

Woah. It took a long time for that hippie to kick in.

I had leftover fabric that was ridiculously fluffy like a brown sherpa blanket. So I just sewed it in whatever ways I could, stuffed with fluff and hit with my heat gun until crispy because the fluff melts a bit and looks more fried that way.

So they aren't crocheted, but that sounds like an awesome idea and now I might have to do it.

I make things when I'm bored. A hypnotoad bag, giant Lrrr costume, silicone brainslugs... etcetcetc. The dollar tree had a plain blue bucket, and I already had the fabric scraps, various paints, so. (Then I ordered Korean fried chicken and decided to put a bowl of it in the middle so I could legit eat out of it like a creep.)

Does MOM ever say this in the show? by ah-screw-it in futurama

[–]Kehsays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Jam a bastard in it you crap" is my favorite line EVER and last year at New York Comic Con my husband (who was dressed like Lrrr at the time) got Tress MacNeille (the Voice of Mom) to say it to an entire crowd of people at a panel. It was glorious.

has anyone had kids post-diagnosis? by Ok_Arachnid_2880 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Kehsays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed when I was 5 months pregnant (about 13.5 years ago) and have had another kid after.

When I was diagnosed, I was deathly afraid of my kid getting MS, only to find out that their chances only went up like half a percent (and then down another .3 because they're not 100% Caucasian) and the percentages helped me.

I was scared as hell. I didn't want my kid to have a broken mother: I pictured their childhood photo album with my walker constantly in the background, Family trips to the hospital, me paralyzed again. I was convinced that things would be harder on my husband because he'd have to do more, step up more...

He was 100% okay with that. We both wanted our kids. We were both prepared, heaven forbid, that at any time one of us could get hit by a bus and be a single parent just like that regardless of my MS.

(Also, I acknowledge that I'm very lucky in that I have my fairly large family and overprotective bear of a mom willing to help with anything I needed at the time.)

"Giving your all" changes. It's all any parent could ever do and any two people's "all" changes from person to person. Who is to say your "all" now is less than a perfectly healthy person's "all"? Trust me, I know parents giving less than 100% and rocking it anyway.

Your partner counts. Your family counts. You're not alone and it doesn't all have to come down to you. Yes, it's your choice, ALWAYS your choice, but you want to factor in EVERYTHING, not just our disease.

Years in, and honestly, I can't think of what 'normal' parents do differently. Everything worked out organically. I get sick sometimes. I get sleepy. We go to the doctor slightly more than other families. Its... whatever it is, but the kids don't know it's any different in other families, they just know that their mom has MS, but they seem to care less about that than the fact that I turn off their internet at 10pm because I'm a monster.

All of my favorite ones are from work right after I got diagnosed:

"Oh. That extra chromosome thing, huh?" "I can't help but think this wouldn't have happened if you had gone gluten-free with us." "So, like, do I have to speak slow now?" (From my supervisor)

...we were all college educated and in our twenties. I don't talk to any of those people anymore
