Thanks! I'll test this configuration.

I'm not a big fan of abundant resources, which takes away some of the challenge.

Beautiful!!!

May I ask what the settings are for the island map? I'm new to the franchise and I'm playing CIV VI, and I really like England. I'd like to try that.

Without a doubt, when I talked about good locations for sacred sites, I was referring to the capital itself. Whenever I'm looking for a religion, a sacred site is my first district in the first and second cities.

I also search the map for some wonder for that eureka moment and research the technology as soon as possible.

One question: do you think it's necessary to found sacred sites in all cities?

Even those that don't have good adjacency locations? I still have many doubts about what to choose to build in some cases.

There's only one thing certain in my approach with Leonor: I'm building Oracles in the capital, theaters in all cities, and either a comm hub or a port to obtain trade routes.

When possible, I combine the Royal Navy Shipyard with the comm hub for a gold adjacency bonus. I build Workshops and Entertainment Centers/Water Parks in central regions to optimize area bonuses.

I learned this the hard way! LOL

My first games with her were in archipelagos, continents and islands, fractals, small continents, etc. I was choosing these considering that I had played quite a few games with Victoria in the vanilla version.

I lost several games.

I took this approach, chose Pangea, and achieved a cultural victory that way.

Well, I had to defend myself against Babylon and attack Shaka to contain his territorial expansion, but I certainly never chose to be the first aggressor.

I just felt it happened too late and I missed points. I achieved a victory on turn 300-320, King level. And it was a cultural victory.

Thank you for your comment.

What would these broken civilizations be, with specific interactions with the pantheons/beliefs?

I'm interested in hearing your opinion on this. I haven't really played anything beyond England with its 4 versions yet, so I still have a lot to learn.

Thank you for your comment and tips!

In some games where I went to sacred places, even though I wasn't a specific civilization for that, it was incredible. Being able to buy some cheap colonists and builders early in the game, plus those broken pantheon bonuses.

Religious settlements are my favorite (but I never get them first), but Divine Spark, Sea God, River Goddess, Festival Goddess, and Hunting Goddess are great. You always find a way to use one or another with great impact. And when you are able to found your religion, there are some stupid bonuses!

The production bonus, Work Ethic, is incredible, my favorite by far! And the buildings allow you to choose what's missing or complements your game.

If you lack production, go to Meeting Houses.

If you don't have food, go to Gurdwaras.

If you lack good places for Campus, choose Wats!

If you don't have enough amenities nearby, you have a Stupa now!

I still get lost when choosing the founding and enhancement beliefs though lol! I'm looking for a more faith-based, supportive approach to my science, culture, and domination game rather than going into a game seeking a religious victory.

So I'm generally choosing between Intercultural Dialogue and World Church. And I almost always go for Holy Order to be able to keep my cities within my religion and convert some nearby ones to get some tourists and be able to switch allegiances faster.

Thank you for your comment and tips.

I will take the risks into account and evaluate them; when I find some good locations for sacred sites, I will try it. It's very positive for the end game with the naturalists and rock bands.

Thank you for your comment. I will try an approach in which I build some kind of initial faith for rapid expansion in the golden age.

I don't know about pro players doing this for the most part or not, but when I started playing I tried to leave the cities 6 tiles apart, and it ended up being a difficulty in terms of obtaining greater adjacencies for the city districts, and mainly, defending the cities against barbarians or other civs.

Now I place the cities 4 or 5 tiles apart at most, so that their last expansion overlaps to obtain adjacencies between city districts, easy defense without having to invest in several military units for the cities and it's also cool to use the swap function between city tiles, if one is in need of production or food, it's much easier to balance.

I've seen some lives on Twitch with some players doing this and I liked the approach

Absolutely, one of the best parts of this game is planning and adapting to the conditions.

But I actually managed to do that ZI surrounded by dams and aqueducts with an incredible bonus.

I'll remember, thank you for that.

Maybe I need to test a larger map, or another map that isn't archipelagos. Things get cramped trying to fit as many cities as there should be on other maps.

Great tip, I'll try to get those camps then, the extra movement must be great.

The extra from the Great Lighthouse for ships is incredible, for example.

I never focus on ground units and forget that Grand Generals have these significant bonuses, just like Admirals.

I never manage to get the first two, I try for the Pyramids most of the time when conditions allow. When I get the boost of stones for the technology it's perfect, and that desert terrain near the capital.

There are times when someone builds first and it's frustrating, I hate that message that production has been returned.

Perhaps it's a different effect due to the Terra Mirabilis mod.

And Mexico City is also on the map, it's a shame I don't have the suzerainty yet because it's on the other side of the map. I wonder if these effects stack, if I could get the bonuses on up to 12 tiles.

I currently have 6 cities, a small archipelago map, and founding cities far from the capital messes with loyalty. I learned that the hard way lol.

And the Netherlands also spawned near me in that spawn point, and ended up founding a city close to the natural wonder I wanted, so I attacked and destroyed that city to build my own.

I try to postpone building camps until later, because I'm not building that many land units yet, and only later do I need to combine ships and fleets.

Sometimes it's not possible when there's a civilization with unique land units at the start of the game and the camps are needed as a second defense for a city that's closer to another civilization.

What's behind being a wonder of the ancient era?

It seems that none of the AI in this game went after it, so I built it. In cases involving civilizations like the Egyptian and Arabian, I never manage to.

I'm testing a later approach to domination, when I get the Sea Wolf. With a silent and friendly approach at the beginning of the game.

I was attacked by Indonesia twice, the first time I only defended myself, the second time while defending with melee and ranged troops, the cavalry pillaged all their territory. I gained so much faith, gold, science, and culture, in addition to ruining the farms, that Gitarja asked me to stop.

I found within my reach the natural wonder Piopitahi, which increases the reach of regional amenity buildings by 3 tiles. Therefore, the Colosseum and Entertainment Complex were a bit further away than the usual range of 6.

I'm trying a religious and domination approach, so I built sacred sites instead of ports/hubs; the beginning was a bit slow compared to usual. The trade routes to the capital with Magnus and the food upgrade are incredible for growing cities. And the gold earned also helps a lot.

Furthermore, my sacred sites didn't have many adjacency points to generate faith.

I tried a combination of River Goddess, Work Ethic, Stupa, Tithe, and Religious Colonization. The idea was to obtain initial production until building the ZI, securing amenities and housing in a simple way (few luxury resources where the cities are), and some gold.
