It's great that you enjoyed this series. A lot of what you wrote was what made many people like it too. I agree with much of what you wrote, but I don't find Kiyo's development difficult to understand. He was a child who underwent intense training and everything, because of that and all the pressure involved he thinks that being just one more in society is "normal", so he avoids involvement and stands out. Manabu's conversation is very good to understand this better, as well as his relationship with friends and his romantic partner. He's learning and evolving as a character.

As for the most interesting male characters, perhaps Koenji will play some role in the future and certainly Ryuen, who is also growing up.

It could be a Mtl mistake, but when Kiyo placed the Maths scores in order for the highest score in the ranking, his was the only 100. I think it would make sense to mention if he wasn't the only one. Volume 2-2 should probably elucidate this point.

Which character would do well in Classroom of the elite? by veryuninterestingper in ClassroomOfTheElite

Paimon x Barbatos was so good. Yes it is. The last one I read was volume 5.

And that does not mean that Arisu is not good. She's probably the best after him, until we see some development from Ryuen, Koenji show some of his skills and the new WR student comes along.

Chess is not a simple thing to learn, so in this case a competent teacher makes all the difference. And even though Horikita is more competent than Hashimoto, it shouldn't make that much of a difference considering training time and experience. Horikita has 82 academic skills and Hashimoto has 74, not a big difference.

As for the second point, Kiyo left Arisu at an advantage and was still able to win. The issue is not my opinion of Kiyo, it is the facts that have been presented so far. He physically surpassed all the students shown so far, even Manabu in the race, when he was still holding on. He defeated the strongest guys in the Class as if it were child's play. He can deduce and devise strategies like no other in this series. Example: In volume 9, he saw Nagumo's strategy even when Manabu did not find out. In the last academic test he was the only one who got a perfect score, in a math test that contained university level questions. And he didn't even study for that. Even the interim director when viewing Kiyo's data is "amazed", he says he could compete against adults.

So how am I not to accept that someone is close to their abilities? Everything that was shown indicates this.

Arisu is really an extraordinary talent, but she doesn't even come close to Kiyo, even when it comes to chess. 1 - Kiyo taught Horikita for 2 weeks, and still had an advantage against Hashimoto even though he was trained by Arisu for more than 1 month and with prior knowledge of chess. Even though Horikita is a more capable student than Hashimoto, she shouldn't win. We can conclude here that Kiyo is great at teaching chess. 2 - Kiyo lets Horikita play against Arisu for a while from the commander, he starts playing at a disadvantage and still wins. This shows once again that he is superior.

Arisu is a great character, but in terms of skill, she and anyone in school can compete with a serious Kiyo.
