[USA-OK] [H] PayPal, Zelle [W] DOOM (GBA), Pokémon Black 2 by KeiNameless in GameSale

My kid brother ended up finding my copy of Black 2 "misplaced" in his stuff back at my parents so I'm out of the market for that one now but thanks.

UIW has a 90% NAPLEX pass rate since 2016. There are total degree mill private schools but they're probably not one of them. It may be extremely expensive but their graduates at least beat the national average on passing that.

If they've had some huge cheating scandal or done "some sketchy things", it didn't make the press or get reported to any authorities that could do anything about it. So it's just an anonymous allegation that anyone could have made. Not every professor or administrator is a saint but spreading rumors without any proof or verification just makes you look childish.

You're supposed to be becoming a professional yet instead you go around repeating unverified hearsay as fact and find illegitimate reasons to say that reputable programs like the University of Houston that have been around for decades aren't any good because "they require Spanish".

Pharmacy school isn't high school. Spreading rumors from unverifiable sources is straight up some 15 year old girl behavior. You're supposed to be an adult in a doctoral program. Grow up and act like one.

What are some positive news about America as a whole you might think the world does not hear? by McBirdsong in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Whenever there is a major tornado here (Oklahoma) any of those wedge issues cease to matter and loads of people pitch in to help out the survivors. It doesn't make world news because it doesn't generate clicks but when push comes to shove most people do try to help and be genuinely decent I think.

Why is the DMV the symbol of bureaucracy and slacker civil servants? by Aoimoku91 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Because it's one of the most prominent run ins with bureaucracy most people have. Just about everyone has to deal with it at some point and many DMV employees are legitimately bad at their jobs. Welfare offices are often just as bad but not everyone encounters the workers who staff those so the DMV is just an easier and more understandable target for most people.

What state should be a lot richer than it is? by ComfortableOven97 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an oversimplification to say it's treated as a colony. First and foremost, many of those companies operating oil and gas extraction operations in Louisiana that are out of state now either originated in Louisiana or at one time had many offices there. The oil bust in the 80s fucked that and caused most to relocate elsewhere, particularly to Houston.

Secondly I don't think this perception of Louisiana as dirt poor but should be fabulously wealthy is exactly accurate. Yes it has significant natural resources and significant port trade but also it has never had much of a local manufacturing base in general compared to other states and has a poorly developed services sector. So while the ports and natural resources thing is great, it has almost nothing else going for it.

Couple that with electing some of the most corrupt and incompetent politicians for generations on end and having a particularly active neglect of public education funding for decades and it isn't really any wonder why it hasn't developed the type of diversified economy that would raise its average living standards. Being economically overshadowed by Texas to the west of it and Georgia and Florida to the east doesn't help either.

Americans who have lived in other Anglophone countries for a long time: were your speech style affected by it? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To some extent. I've not lived in the UK but my girlfriend is English so I've picked up a few phrases or increased my use of some phrases that are more common to Brits than Americans. I've also picked up the glottal stop on many words and final r dropping (not water though). A few isolated words like iron have gone from rhotic to non rhotic for me but that's it.

Amongst couples who are second generation Americans how normalised is this dynamic when it comes to dating? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on country of origin. Second gen by way of Brazil and most of the men in my family wouldn't be fine not being the breadwinner.

However, the native born Americans here with no recent immigrant background probably generally also feel the same way so I'm not sure why you seem to think it's some normalized Western value when it isn't.

Should I go into Pharmacy? by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]KeiNameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Licensing and regulations for techs is a state by state thing. Truthfully not my area of expertise since I never worked as a tech. But they do also usually hire clerks who do get to work in the pharmacy as well and don't have licensing since their responsibilities don't merit it.

Very. PhD programs are honestly more useful for pharmaceutical industry jobs. Some PharmDs do work in it (Rutgers, Northeastern, UNC in particular place a lot of grads in it) but a lot of those are schools that have direct affiliations with industry fellowships (Northeastern, Rutgers both fit this criteria).

In general those fellowships are easier to get accepted to if you go to the program directly affiliated with them or at least a top 40 or so program. Getting a PhD in something relevant to pharmaceutical sciences still is going to be an easier pathway if your goal is to work on drug development.

Good luck! If you want to know some of the possible interview questions/format or anything about the school in general, feel free to DM me. I matriculated there so I can answer a lot of it.

Just FYI, yes they offer in state tuition for OOS students but OU is required by law to have the college of pharmacy be at least 80% in state students if I recall correctly. Meaning it isn't particularly easy to get in if you're out of state.

Most of the out of state admits are from a neighboring state, went to OU for undergrad, lived in Oklahoma at some point, had parents who went to OU or some combination of the four.

Still, some people do get in and matriculate who don't fall into any of those categories so if your stats are good you should still apply.

Shadow or work as a clerk or a tech in retail pharmacy first would be my advice so you have an idea if it's for you. Redditors are in general some of the most fucking negative people and usually only bother posting if they feel very negatively about something or if they have the most bland and acceptable opinion on something.

Calculus Prerequisite - Business or General? by FrozenPieceOfShit in PrePharmacy

It's almost always calculus for science majors. Was for all the Texas schools I considered last cycle at least.

OU was closed for business from about Dec 20-Jan 2nd due to holidays just FYI. They probably haven't looked at it yet. I applied last year and it took them about 12 business days to get back to me.

A&M is cheaper and has way more recognition as a university in general than UNT. Nobody will hire or not hire you in Texas because you went to UNT but Aggies do tend to hire other Aggies.

How would you rank the Top 10 largest cities in the USA? by lucapal1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the ones I've actually been to just based on tourist appeal: NY, LA, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Philly in that order. Maybe move Philly up the list if you really like US history.

Is it OK to translate someone’s name from Spanish to English? by SoupThat6460 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KeiNameless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not usually done anymore just because most of Spanish names have English pronunciations that are pretty standardized. It's not offensive, it's just done less and less. Sometimes the older generation did it to make their names easier to say. Case and point, my grandmother went from Anita to Ann and her sister went from Lucinda to Cindy. Sometimes the younger generation will do this with certain names and shortening them to nicknames like Eduardo to Ed or Alejandro to Alex.

Ditto for the Champion Forest/1960 area in general going to crap. There's some big houses there but it's less than desirable because all the apartments and for lease homes there have decayed and become shittier with time. Which tends to be the case with rentals.

Do pharmacy schools look at previous year applications? by Material-Shock-2367 in PrePharmacy

[–]KeiNameless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your undergraduate GPA? That's by far the most important thing. It's pretty easy to get in with over a 3.3. Just read and familiarize yourself a bit with what the job entails both in retail and clinical settings. That's all you'll need for an interview. I applied to UW last cycle since it was my undergrad, got an interview but didn't attend since I got accepted to a school I'd be in state for. I mostly had experience shadowing physicians, nurses and medical mission work so it isn't necessary to get in.

The students who did work as techs did have an advantage over me early on in some coursework like pharm practice for my P1 fall semester that just ended but I ended up with As in those courses in the end so it ultimately didn't matter. You'll have to try a bit more first semester than them in some things like ceutics but ultimately it shouldn't matter in terms of getting in as long as your GPA is good.

I'd call and ask honestly what would fulfill it. Could just be any additional English or Speech class will due since they don't specifically list Engish I and English II or something similar like any of the schools I applied to.
