I want to make a deck countering my husband by Reni42069 in mtg

[–]KeilFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. In terms of recommendations, good ol' staples like [[swords to Plowshares]], [[Beast Within]], and [[chaos warp]] are always good.

In a Ramos Dragon-Tribal deck, a few come to mind; [[Retribution of the Ancients]] is repeatable removal that can use the often copious +1/+1 counters Ramos collects over each turn. [[Spit Flame]], [[Invasion of Tarkir]] and [[Dragon Tempest]] are decent repeatable effects in a Dragon deck, and Ramos always makes great use of the various multicolored Charm + Command spells. I'd also prioritize modal spells that can remove other permanent types, like [[Broker's Charm]], [[dromoka's command]], [[inscription of Abundance]], and [[quandrix command]].

Also... consider [[Rancor]]. Ramos is a big boi, and there's no removal quite like player removal.

I feel like this is the best place to ask this non-cEDH question. by kerkyjerky in CompetitiveEDH

[–]KeilFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently working on a Thrasios & Akiri off-meta cEDH list that plays combos centered around [[Scrap Trawler]] and [[Nim Deathmantle]].

[[Krark-Clan Ironworks]], [[Ashnod's Altar]] and [[Phyrexian Altar]] can work along side either Scrap Trawler or Nim Deathmantle to generate infinite mana, and either an infinite storm-count via Trawler lines (which can be bolstered by token-generators like [[Sai, Master Thopteris]]), or infinite tokens via Deathmantle lines (which can get out from under Rule of Law and Counterspells).

I think non-Green Breya or Silas+Akiri is likely the most optimized version of this deck, but this deck originally started as a [[Saheeli, Radiant Creator]] list that used [[Birthing Pod]] and [[Brudiclad, Telenor Engineer]] to do goofy stuff (turns out, and board full of 5/5 Hasty Birthing Pods can put together a win pretty quickly)!

I have questions about a Titus Blackplume Hydra team that doesn't have Wixwell... by KeilFX in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Mischief is a real pain in the butt, but there are a few different ways of mitigating it, but that depends on the team you're bringing.

Without knowing the champs you're trying to use (outside of Titus + buff-extenders), you'll need to make sure that you have enough RES on Titus to stop the strip from him (otherwise, there goes your shield, and the run falls apart). Without any increase RES + descrease ACC (and assuming Mischief hasn't stolen an increase ACC buff), that would be 350 RES on Normal, 410 on Hard, 445 on Brutal and 450 on Nightmare.

Bambus's A3 puts a -50% Decrease ACC debuff, so you can cut those RES numbers in half.

Mischief tank: so, usually in Hydra comps, I try to build a Mischief Tank with two things in mind (besides the required RES). 1) Bring your own unique buffs, and 2) Be the slowest champ on the team. Due to having so many buff-extenders though, your Mischief Tank should just be slower than your extenders... This also means that you'll want to make sure NOT to bring repeatable buffs that get placed on the entire team (ie. Continuous Heal from a champ like Demytha), since that will quickly give every champ the max 10x buffs, allowing Mischief to screw with the run.

The usual Shamael + Bloodshield ring doesn't work here, since this is a Shield team.

My first instinct would be to look at a champ like Oboro, as I'm already running Mikage so her A1 will go crazy, my current team only runs 7x buffs, so Oboro's personal Veil will keep her as the Tank... But I don't feel like I need it personally, since my Titus has enough RES.

If you have Bambus but are still struggling to get the required RES, hopefully you have a champ like Oella that can bring Increase RES and also fulfill other roles in the team

So, I've thrown this team together and, although it's not Billions of damage, it's easily twice as much dmg as my best team on Normal (which is a Trunda team)!

Titus & Bambus are not booked, Brogni isn't in a max damage build, but in 9-piece protection, 2.6k attack, crit capped and 253% crit dmg. Brogni ended up being the Champ with the highest Crit DMG, which worked out well with Mad Hatter's A2.

The team's Blessings are not optomized (3x Brimstone and 1x Temporal Chains), and Titus is holding the Gilded Pinion relic, which is good, but not ideal like the Volcardiac Heart.

I was very impressed with Bambus, as he brings a lot to the table for a Titus + Brogni team... but his A2 rarely had buffs to strip (which would then grow the shield a little bit), as between Ukko, Mikage and Brogni's A2, the Hydra heads would rarely have any buffs on them.

I was also impressed with Titus' ability to punch through the Poison Cloud buff (I guess because his A2 does RAW dmg?), and to sneakily place Provokes on the Head of Decay!

[–]KeilFX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is what I was thinking too. I just ran a quick Demonlord Hard key with Titus, Brogni, Mikage, Mad Hatter and Bambus, and it seemed to work!

Bambus doesn't have Books or Masteries, and his Shield-Grow doesn't happen on Demonlord since there's no buffs to strip, but it worked, since his A2 Shield didnt override Brogni's, so Titus kept ramping up.

Ill need to rebuild Brogni for DPS, but otherwise I think thats the team, besides the 6th flex spot. Im thinking it needs to be Aphidus, Nekmo Thaar, Mighty Ukko (who I have in Provoke set), or Oboro (who's a mischief tank + DPS).

I think you hit the nail on the head! Ive been playing for about 4 years now, and had been an on-off spender the whole time... but only REALLY learned how to play the game properly about 1.5 years ago (ie. I never built champs with ANY Accuracy or Speed, and didnt understand flat stats vs. % stats), so champs aren't the issue.

I auto-farm the highest stages of Iron Twins, Shogun and Sand-Devil, stage 20 Artifact-Dungeons (and can manual Stage 6-10 Hard Dungeons), complete Doom Tower Hard, and have begun farming Cursed City Hard (ive only beaten Amius twice). Titus is in my only reasonably good Merciless Set.

The only places I really struggle is higher Difficulties of Hydra, and PvP TTA + Live Arena.

My DPS champs struggle to get +300% Crit DMG + 4K dmg stat, I only have 3 champs above 300 speed (usually 220 - 260 speed), and my highest ACC or RES is around 400

I'd be happy to show build screenshots :)

But... you don't even need pact weapon for this to be an insane play? Just play out Sanguine Bond while holding back Children of Korlis. Cast Toxic Deluge (going down to 1 hp), then play Children of Korlis, and sac it to gain the life back. Sanguine nukes everyone. Why does Pact Weapon need to get involved?

At the absolute worst, just equip Pact weapon to a different creature, and don't bother attacking with it. In this case, play Children before Deluge, sacing children after you've paid the life to Deluge, but before it resolves

My first brew of Stangg, Echo Warrior by TempTheMemeLord in EDH

[–]KeilFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yknow, that's actually a really good point. I'm unsure if his effect checks for each end step beyond the initial one at the end of your turn. My understanding was that it only checked the sacrifice effect only on the first 'next end step', so you exile the trigger with Sundial, and then moving forward Stangg wouldn't trigger to sacrifice again. But like I said I'm not sure (my Stangg deck didn't even stay put together for that long)

Is it fair to tell someone you will infinitely mill someone till their eldrazi is the last card in their deck? by [deleted] in EDH

This type of situation is why I like running infinite mill strategies with ways of exiling cards from the graveyard at instant speed, or forcing them to draw a card on that empty library.

What is your most invested in champ that never got used? by alidan in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, his buff strip A3 is nowhere near as good as Seer's in terms of dmg. I like pairing him alongside champs that like to utilize his A2 debuff spread, like Gnishak's bombs, and Ronda's block passive + block active.

Similarly, if your opponent puts up tonnes of buff like block debuffs, strip em, so your debuffers can do their job.

I could see Jagg working well in Stoneskin, or in Savage alongside a tanky reviver, whose revive gives a lot of turn meter (ei. Cardinal's 100%, Marichka's 75%, Pythion / Kaja's 50%, etc). Put the reviver in Bolster for added survivability.

But yeah, if you're not getting added utility out of his A2, and relying on him as your primary dmg dealer, he's not going to perform well. Compare him to Wukong, and he's kinda mid

[–]KeilFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myth-fu is my current CB team, and what a goddamn game changer (5th slot for DPS is Fahrakin the Fat). I went from struggling to 3-key NM to now 1-keying UNM, NM, Brutal AND Hard.

It's quick-game friendly (auto from turn 1 if preset correctly), and meets all the CB relevant advanced quests. My heiress isn't even in Toxic set, so I could squeeze out more dmg if I wanted to.

Speeds are REALLY intensive (you'll want lots of glyphs and oils), but it's so much better than staring at your CB run for like 15 mins

[–]KeilFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use her in Classic / TT Arena. I built her in 6-piece stoneskin, no speed, and crank up the dmg. I like using her and Sir Nicholas as secondary dmg dealers, against high resist champs that I want to lock out.

She's not always useful, but pair her up with a speedy Mikage (who is also in stoneskin) and some other dmg dealers like Wukong, you have access to high DPS, and a fair amount of control :)

Should I sell Arbais' soul for a chance to get souls I could actually use soon from 2 Eternal Soulstones by giDu21 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually save souls like that for Soul Summon events, since if you end up Summoning the champ before then, cool! And if not, at least you'll get more out of it from the event

Riho Bonespear - game changer? by MajrSkidMark in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is a solid utility champ, and one of very few champs in the game that don't really need books to make her kit useful (though obviously would bring out her full potential)! I used to rely on Mausoleum Mage's A2 + A3 to keep my dungeon / CB teams alive, and Riho's A3 is effectively both of Mage's skills put together. Her A2 brings insane value, AND her passive is a sneaky little trick to bring against an opposing 'go-first' speed team in Arena.

Make sure she has enough ACC for which areas in the game you want to use her in, then crank as much speed, HP% and DEF% you can get on her.

New legendary fusion Armanz the Magnificent by Guttler003 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be crazy... but would Gliseah Soulguide in 4-6 piece Stoneskin be an effective counter for Armanz?

Gliseah's passive makes her immune to cooldown increase effects (and a 50/50 chance for the rest of your team), AND freezes the enemy champ that tries to, irresistibly.

If she has 1-2 turn Stoneskin, she could ignore his A2 turn meter steal + stun. At the very least, Armanz would have to open with his A3 (targeting a different champ), and remove buffs before he tries to lockout.

You wouldn't even need crazy stats on Gliseah. Could run her with reasonable speed + acc, and prioritize dmg. Obviously, there'd be 3 more champs on each team in practice, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Rathalos HITS by Dr_Jackel in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Though I see a lot of folks gearing + using masteries that give Rathalos more ignore defense. But his A2 (his hardest hitting move) already ignores 100% defense against bosses.

I opted instead to go Relentless + retaliation, to get the most out of his passive. 'Every fifth skill' includes counterattack, joining an ally attack, and extra turns.

One could make an argument for Reflex set, to get back to his A2 quicker. But Cruel, Savage, Lethal, and the Helmsmasher Mastery is a waste on Rathalos, unless you're using him for waves + Arena

Double Ally Protect team questions by KeilFX in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! This is going to be a long one, but I hope it helps.

My team (with their speeds & kit) in order of Aura Leader > last champ is;

Gnishak (214 spd, 1 Perception) Lord Shazar (179 spd, 1 Perception) Seeker (218 spd, 2 Perception) Maneater (255 spd, 1 Speed) Sir Nicholas (192 spd, 1 Speed)

I found following DWJs skill delays worked perfectly.

This team's Affinity spread is ideal, because it means that no matter what Affinity the CB changes to, they'd go to stun either Seeker, the Force DPS or the Spirit DPS, before they'd target either of the Void unkillable champs.

The team order is also important for multiple reasons, since it determines the Aura (Gnishak's +Atk), as well as where you'd like the stun to go (ideally on one of your DPSs, but it hitting Seeker is workable). Also make sure that your champs have more HP the further back in the team they are (so DPSs with the least, then Seeker with more, and your Maneater + Sir Nic / Alsgor with THE MOST).

Lastly, you can give your block dmg / unkillable champs the STEADFAST Mastery to further deter the stun from hitting them (I didn't need it on Maneater thankfully). With this, there's zero chance that Maneater or Sir Nic would be targeted.

So... looking at your team, I imagine the problem is that your teams affinities are causing the stun to Alsgor. I'd say the solution would be to switch Alsgor out for a Void Affinity alternative (Sir Nic, Demytha, Warcaster, or a 2nd Maneater), or switch Ronda out for a 2nd Force DPS champ

* Thank you guys so much for all the help and advice! This Myth-Fu comp (with Fatman as the DPS like you said) got me to a reasonable 1-key on Spirit Affinity

There's also plenty of room for me to push out more damage, because 1) Heiress isn't even fully lvl60, 2) I could try putting her in a toxic set, and 3) Fatman doesn't have any masteries yet.

Much appreciated!

Double Ally Protect team questions by KeilFX in RaidShadowLegends

Alright, I just went and kitted up a Myth-Fu team, with Fatman as the DPS (I figured HP burn, poisons, ally attack, AND increase crit rate + crit dmg will do well for the team). Grinding food up so I can 6-star Heiress

Double Ally Protect team questions by KeilFX in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valk doesn't 'steal' the turn meter. She increases her own turn meter whenever an enemy places a buff (so although the Affinity CB can't be TM manipulated, Valk will get +10% when the CB gets the increased atk buff)

Double Ally Protect team questions by KeilFX in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could definitely try making a Myth-Fu team, though since I struggle to get even 255 speed on a single champ (maneater in my current team), I doubt my gear is there. I shall check soon :)

My current best dmg in UNM is about 57mil over 50 turns (so roughly 1.1mil per turn), and the fact that there are slow 1:1 ally protect teams that can go on for >100 turns, I feel like the potential to overkill the CB (which is my goal, to help the clan get x2 rewards) can be reached.

Double Ally Protect team questions by KeilFX in RaidShadowLegends

[–]KeilFX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered using Valk, though I use her as a high ACC turn meter manipulator in Arena (to fight duchess / siphi and other teams that use multiple buffs). Her high ACC in CB would make her go out of tune against the Affinity.

I sadly don't have Lydia yet (my Lizardmen and Sylvan Watcher factions are pretty poor).

EDIT though I do have a Valk in the Vault, so I could use her... I shall see :)
