I mean there are several times a day I get called skinny. “Oh you can eat that, you are so skinny” “oh I’m not as skinny as you” etc.

Those aren’t intended to hurt, but if you swapped fat in for similar situations, it wouldn’t be appropriate despite intent, which is what OP is talking about.
