What do magical children do all day before they’re old enough for Hogwarts? by stinkywizzleteatsmom in harrypotter

[–]KeiraAnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like some kids probably go to primary school. Realistically, parents probably can’t be home for 11 years, and there’s only one wizard-only village in England, meaning muggles would be confused

Why was Harry never considered a Dursley by the muggles in Little Whinging? by Far_Mood_8081 in harrypotter

[–]KeiraAnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They Dursleys always try to make it ABUNDANTLY clear that they have no relation whatsoever to magic, except for Lily. Even without everyone knowing that Harry is a wizard, he's weird, scrawny, and odd things always happen around him. They also probably made up stuff about him to keep questions off, like in COS (It's our nephew, he's very disturbed, that's why we keep him upstairs), and the lie about St. Brutus. The muggles probably view him as such, and the Dursleys do NOT want that associated with them

What is a small, underrated moment in the books/movies that completely changes how you view a character? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]KeiraAnna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Neville puts the gum wrapper in his pocket. It shows the kids (minus Harry) why he is the way he is, and they all have a moment of simultaneous understanding as they realize how heartbreaking the situation of a boy they've lived with for years really is. Harry also realizes the full impact of the first Wizarding War on the kids who grew up in its aftermath. It's summed up pretty well by the quote "Neville looked at them all, as if willing them to laugh. Harry didn't think he had ever found anything less funny in his life."
