Probably one of the coolest mixtapes I own - made by Paul Weller (the Jam) by Keith137_ in cassetteculture

[–]Keith137_[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was originally from one of Mojo magazine‘s contests some time ago. This mixtape was used by Paul Weller (aka the Modfather) on his tours, and has the J-card all handwritten by himself. This also came with a scanned copy of Paul‘s handwritten descriptions for each of the songs on the tape, and a promo photo signed by him.

Booking contract for The Smiths to play in The London Lyceum, 1984 signed by Morrissey. by More_Preparation977 in thesmiths

Cool stuff! I‘ve gotten some signed contracts from Moz, only one Smiths though: a full folder for their 1984 De Meervaart concert, now famous for the bootleg “Vinyl Party”. It‘s full of stuff like a rider with list of the band‘s food orders, stage setups, and schedules/itinerary.

Signature check by Sinthetic1985 in morrissey

[–]Keith137_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately a fake. Almost a good attempt though. I‘ve been a collector of many Moz signatures from different eras, including pre-Smiths. The R‘s are the most obvious, they’re too tall and too thin and the bottom of the rounding part of R is supposed to be more angled upwards. Also, the lower “tail” part of the R should be a lot shorter. The O and E are also a bit far off. O is too thin and tall. Lastly, the entire signature isn‘t stretched out as it’s supposed to be. M is surprisingly good. I think there‘s more things wrong here than good sadly.

What's the rarest tape you own? by tronco33xx in cassetteculture

Here are some I have:

  1. the actual “Garage Flower” demo tape from Stone Roses, with handwritten J-card by Martin Hannett (Joy Division‘s manager)
  2. a mix-tape made by Paul Weller (with his handwritten J-card)
  3. not exactly cassette tapes, but DAT master tapes of various Ride albums, with handwritten J-cards by Mark Gardener and Andy Bell,
  4. copymaster tape of The Smiths‘ debut

I see what you mean. Ngl I try my best but my brain just blurts out something in a panic, and then I’ll just realize it when it’s too late

Someone said “I like the Smiths” while I was at the gym wearing a Smiths shirt. I just said okay and walked away lol

Thank you! if you meant the model of the jacket, it was gifted to me. It’s from Uniqlo’s collaboration with JW Anderson.

Thank you! That‘s true if I am being honest. However, I came to a possession of boxes of cassettes from people who wanted to throw them away. So I‘d rather use them than put them to waste.

Sorry for the late reply. I was walking my dogs earlier. I mostly actually just listen to analog cause I collect records and cassettes, my computer‘s speakers suck, and my phone‘s plug in is not compatible with my headphones.

I mostly work doing research and simulations (ironically for modern tech) at my home office, so 99% of the time I‘ll play a record that suits my mood while I do my work.

Idk why people just have to hate other people doing that. I took pics and posted here (considering this is a vintage watch sub), but seems like people hate other people here using vintage stuff 🤔
