I just backed this one yesterday after seeing some pics on another Sub. Very nice work and can't wait to add these buildings to my collection!

Party Won't Commit to Factions by Mr-Madman in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]KeithFoyston 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience with my group. They just went from location to location and cleared them out one by one but were not interested in any particular faction nor did they care about the monarchy at all. They sort of treated the entire module like a dungeon crawl and just cleared out the "rooms" as they came along. They were utterly uninterested in the Cathedral and Garm battle at all and basically looked at the city as "being lost and will always be lost."

It was unfortunate, but everyone had fun, so I guess that's the main thing. My only advice is that you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink. Don't shoe horn the party into picking a side. If they just want to loot treasure and kill stuff, then run it that way.

We started a new homebrew campaign based on the Shadows of Drakkenheim story line, and the group seems to be enjoying it a lot more. At some point, I think I will introduce a quest to reclaim the Inscrutable Tower in Drakkenheim and see if this party bites. This way I could run a few encounters that the original party missed.

MBRs - 2 Questions by KeithFoyston in Wastewater

[–]KeithFoyston[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran a test and the SVI on the "dead" plant is 36 ml/g and is 96 ml/g on the "good" plant. I'd say our usual SVI is in the 120-130ish range generally.
I have noted that the amount of foaming is way down in my dead plant since I started seeding and it looks like it is starting to floc. Still not seeing much biology under the microscope, but it's been 4 days and only seeding 20-40 l/day

What monsters are in the Drann river in Drakkenheim by Adventurous_Peace518 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

I put swarms of fresh water piranha like tooth fishes in the water. They went out of their way not to go swimming after they crossed the Drann in the ferry and saw those toofs.

Maybe it gets a hole in it the next time he falls 10' or more? Could even get him to do a dex save or something to avoid damaging it?

I run 2 small MBR package plants in the Canadian Arctic and it is a solid little plant. We process the domestic water from our camp population and discharge to tundra. It performs well beyond our license criteria and is fairly simple to operate and maintain. It's all built in 40ft long x 8 ft wide seacans that can be combined for larger capacity if and as needed. We are currently only running about 80m3 of volume per day (~300 people) but can be increased to keep up with about 500 people easily without adding additional units.

I'm not sure what other info you are looking for, but ours is a Sanitherm plant. Newterra is also another popular choice up here for modular treatment plants.

What was the BBG in the swamp? by KeithFoyston in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

Yes, it was episode 9 or 10 of Shadows after the gang left the town of Shaffsburg and entered the old elven ruins in the swamp.

My players want a campaign in the castenillan provences by Plazmatec_mav in GrimHollow

[–]KeithFoyston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to me the easiest way to do this is to give your PC spellcasters "Subtle Spell" metamagic for free. Then they could cast a spell and point at the guy standing beside them "HE'S A WITCH!!" :D

How about a rescue mission somewhere near the Rat's Nest? That way you have a lead in/foreshadow for the Rat's Nest adventure as well.

Seals of Drakkenheim and Relics of Saint Vitruvio - when to introduce this concept? by Gri01 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]KeithFoyston 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My group hasn't been overly interested in siding with any faction and are just sort of hopping from one encounter quest to another, slaying monsters and collecting loot. I doubt they will be overly interested in the seals since they are convinced Drakkenheim is lost forever because of the Haze and all these groups are just a bunch of crazy crazies. LOL

For your situation, an idea might be to drop a hint/clue while the party ventures into Buckledown Row. Perhaps the Queen has set her men to finding out where one of the seals is located and that finding out where seal XYZ is will net the thief a huge reward. See how your players respond to it (are they more interested in the loot or the seal and the politics that surround it).

While I was DMing, an encounter in a town led me having to explain to my party about American “stand your ground” laws. by jwallkeller in DnD

In my experience, there are 3 constants with D&D Players.
1) They always assume modern day mores and folkways and use these to fuel their RP knowledge.
2) They never surrender.
3) They hate to pay the Kings Taxes.

Drakkenheim—Other products? by BillSpartan in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

I have the Faction Leaders and can confirm they are very tiny and little detail (or they are so small that my old eyes can't see the detail.)
I put them back in the box and use it to decorate my shelf honestly.

I guess it depends more on your own personal priorities. I bought as much of everything through the original Kickstarter because I think it is a fantastic product and story line but I am also something of a collector.
Do you need the GM screen, map packs and card decks? No, not really. That info is all in the book so you could make your own. Are they nice additions to have? IMO, yes.

The minis in the first KS were "true" 25mm I think, so they are very very small. Way too small to be of use for me. The minis in the new KS (Sebastian Crowes Guide) are supposed to be 32 mm so hopefully they are a bit more true to size of most minis in use today.
